An opera where a 15 year old girl is sex trafficked, sold to a White American, and then abandoned wouldn’t be one of the most commonly performed operas and wouldn’t be classified as romantic.

ITS TRUE HOW DID I NOT REMEMBER THIS
I found this concept for a comic of Mozart and Metastasio’s La Clemenza di Tito by DeviantArt artist Rafaella Ryon, comissioned by the Vancouver Opera. Only the first page seems to have been drawn up so far, but I’d read this opera comic. :D
Hello! Thank you very much for your "Women Composers in Opera Week"! I didn't know most of these composers. May I suggest you "Céphale et Procris" (1694) by Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre? (Some gifogenic excerpts: youtu[.]be/aWoow1442_Y) Have a nice day!
What a gift! A link and everything!
Women Composers in Opera Week is over (aw), but that doesn’t mean I can’t still make gifs of women composers. Expect gifs of this very soon, and thank you very much!
for the women composers in opera week could you find the opera Simon Bolivar by Thea Musgrave :)
Hello, thanks for the ask! I really tried to find footage or audio of this opera, but I couldn’t even find so much as a picture from a past performance. It’s unfortunate, but it happens.
This reminds me, my list of women composers was larger than what I actually posted. This was because, in some cases, I couldn’t find anything except the name of the opera. Here are some examples:
Mama Dolorosa - Eunyoung Esther Kim
Die Quelle - Lin Wang
Die Fischerin - Emily Mayer
Diary of a Fool - Bernadetta Matuszczak
The Mother of Black-Winged Dreams - Hanna Kulenty
Eréndira - Violeta Dinescu
Monster - Sally Beamish
And etc. I posted these composers because even though I can’t find much on any of their operas, I can still find their other music, and that could be worth listening to.
Thank you everyone for participating in Women Composers in Opera Week! It was great fun. I'd like to do it again in the future, so I'll commence the research and digging.
Maybe it wouldn't take so much digging if more of these operas were put on by major opera houses (hint hint). I understand not staging contemporary works, but look at all these fabulous Baroque and classical operas from the likes of Caccini and Viardot! Maybe someday.
In closing, I hope everyone was as inspired by these women composers as I was.
Women Composers in Opera Week
Orpheus - Elena Kats-Chernin / Claudio Monteverdi
Kats-Chernin has written operas of her own, such as The Rage of Life, but her biggest opera production is her arrangement of Monteverdi's Orpheus. Think baroque with a swing, and accordion.
Women Composers in Opera Week
Pnima ... Ins Innere - Chaya Czernowin
A grandfather can't escape the trauma of the Holocaust, which plagues his inner life.
Czernowin has also written a modern extension of Mozart's unfinished opera, Zaide.
Women Composers in Opera Week
The Scarlet Letter - Margaret Garwood
Based on the book by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Arthur Dimmesdale is just as annoying as I remember him.
Women Composers in Opera Week
Papagenono. Eine Ausflucht - Johanna Doderer
Doderer wrote this mini opera as a collaboration with two other composers for a three act opera called Vogel Herzog Idiot. The story follows a baritone who explores his life achievements through his past roles.

Jeremias Fisher - Isabelle Aboulker
This is the story of a young boy who is slowly transforming into a fish, and who will one day move to the ocean.
