please don’t paint stripping as some privileged form of sex work lite – it’s not. it’s hard physical labor to dance all night, strip clubs are extremely exploitative workplaces, and we experience astronomical levels of sexual assault!

i have never once worked a shift without a man groping my breasts or vulva without my consent, ever, not in five years!

Umm I’m not sure what strip clubs you are working at or what strippers you’ve talked to, but it’s incredibly bad for any of the guys to touch any of the strippers in any manner at the clubs I’ve been to. Here in Canada at least, I’ve known several people that have been kicked out because of that kind of harassment.

According to the women in this study, almost all of the perpetrators suffered no consequence whatsoever for their actions.

Here’s the article directly, basically the bigger point of this bill is to try and save kids from being groomed and used for prostitution. The smaller part which is arresting the people paying for sex, which is something done in many places to begin with anyway. Honestly, it’s not actually going to stop prostitution full stop and never will. The only thing it’ll do is force them to get more creative in hiding it which could turn even more dangerous. In terms of prostitution by consenting adults, personally I feel like the best bet would be to make sure they are staying safe and using protection as it is the worlds oldest ongoing profession for a reason.
