i always thought of a king sized bed as being a bit bigger than a queen, but now that i have one, i can tell you that a king sized bed is an absurdity. i can sprawl out, and my husband can sprawl out, and the cat can sprawl out, and none of us are touching. i reach out in the night, and find only pillows and plush walruses. i reach further and eventually find his elbow. he rolls over the comforters to try and find me. “i have crossed oceans of bed to be with you,” he says. there is a vast expanse of bed untouched, unmapped, unexplored. the cat is still trying to sleep on my face.
This is the opposite of a creepypasta

Finding Good Sunglasses This Summer
In New York City’s trendy SoHo district, you can find the flagship store for Gentle Monster, a relatively young South Korean eyewear brand known for their experimental designs. The company has garnered a lot of attention in recent years for their strange aesthetic and streetwear collaborations – including things such as glimmering sunglasses decorated with gold-encrusted molars. And for being such an avant-garde brand, their line is surprisingly large. Two years ago, when they opened their first US store on Grand Street, they had a 500 square-foot room and a polished, diamond-shaped area that displayed 400 frames in backlit cubbies. Then, earlier this year, they moved to their new Wooster Street location, which is a two-story building with about 5,000 square-feet per floor. It’s nearly twenty times the size of their old space – and who knows how many more frames are now on display.
If a single brand can offer 400 frames, you can imagine how the broader eyewear market feels to the average consumer. There are thousands of companies, each with their own specialized aesthetic and seemingly ever changing collections. It’s no wonder why the internet is full of guides on how to choose eyewear, from how to match the shape of your frames to your face to which tints complement your hair color. All this is to narrow what seems like an impossibly large field for an accessory that’s more personally defining than anything else that could be in your wardrobe (they go on your face, after all).
Last year, I spoke to David Kind’s founder and CEO, David Barton, about what he thinks of these rules. “They’re just a starting point for the conversation,” he said. “It’s like saying someone’s a size medium, but that doesn’t necessarily say anything about what they should wear. The only universal rule is that the frames should be proportional to your face, so that the arms aren’t flaring out and the bridge isn’t slipping down your nose. Fit is absolutely critical. Above that, it’s about personal style.”

Menswear’s Last Big Moment
It was April Fool’s Day in 2010 when J. Crew presented their fall/ winter collection at New York City’s Milk Studios. The space, which is normally reserved for photo shoots, is emotionally cold and vaguely industrial. There are concrete floors, exposed brick walls, and sunlight pouring through the massive, factory-like windows.
Some of the outfits look campy in hindsight, but much of that has to do with the overeager layering – ties peeked out from the tops of crewneck Fair Isle sweaters, suit jackets strained from the bulk of trucker jackets stuffed underneath. But it’s hard to overstate the excitement that surrounded J. Crew’s presentation at the time. After all, the company had just opened their much-anticipated Liquor Store two years ago, which departed from their usual mall set-up and transformed an after-hours watering hole into a menswear-only boutique. Cashmere cardigans were draped over Globetrotter suitcases, rep ties rolled into lowball glasses, and Alden brogues neatly arranged alongside records from The Smiths. Dimly lit rooms were covered in oriental rugs, plush leather chairs, and dark wood paneling. In the corner of one room, a bookshelf stacked with masculine, Strand-issued classics – Kerouac, Hemingway, and Cheever among them – helped lure in men who yearned for a nostalgic past they perhaps never even lived.
The company’s fall/ winter 2010 presentation was similarly moody. Models were dressed in slimmed-up Donegal suits, raw denim jeans, and waxed cotton field coats. The color palette mostly relied on deep navy blues and stone grays, accented with the occasional bit of burgundy and burnt ochre. And while the studio space was sparsely decorated, you could tell everything was carefully chosen for effect. The models stood on top of distressed wooden shipping pallets and crates. The surrounding mechanical systems were left exposed. A crush painted photographer’s backdrop stood in the background. Even the press in attendance that day was served Dark ‘n Stormy cocktails.

HEY. HOW DID YOU GET SO BIG.
WHAT KIND OF DOG ARE YOU.
I HAVE QUESTIONS FOR YOU.

Dr. Tsunemi Kubodera, with the help of his partner Kyoichi Mori was one of the first scientist to film the giant squid in its natural habitat. They relied on sperm-whale paths to find this squid, as sperm-whales prey on giant squids.
Scientist have learned that the giant squid uses a more agressive hunting style than they thought.
Just imagine what else is still out there.
