the whole "insulting someone based on their appearance is bad because it could indirectly hurt people you like who share that feature" is a good start for unlearning body shaming but i do think we need to go further and remind people that even if there was some physical trait that was magically 10000% exclusive to conservatives and creeps and nobody else ever had it, we still shouldnt be insulting them based on that. because the problem with them is not their appearance its their ideology and actions. by insulting their appearance you arent just indirectly insulting others who look like that, youre literally not making the correct point. stay on topic ya know.

I am continuously astonished that people just don't get that LLMs, the basis of generative AI aren't new. We've have Markov chains for most of the 1900s. We coined the term "Neural Nodes" in the 1980s. We have had these algorithms with VERY LITTLE change for at least 3 decades. What's changed is the theft.

I remember when DALL-E first came out, trained on a research set of images and public domain. It only made nonsensical images and colors that almost looked like something but not quite right.

AND THAT IS STILL WHAT THESE ARE. THE PART THATS CHANGED IS THE THEFT. The algorithms have barely been adjusted at all!! THE ONLY THING MIDJOURNEY, OPENAI, ALL OF THEM DID WAS GO "Oh, what if we used a bot to scan ever image on the internet instead of sticking to the research set?" And whoop! Suddenly they were better. Suddenly they had enough training to make recognizable images. Stealing is the only way they operate.

They cannot get enough data any other way. Lionsgate already admitted this:

AI models need a lot of data.

Copyright laws come down on these motherfuckers and they'll be back to the days of images barely making recognizable figures more or less what the prompts actually say.

So stop telling me this shit is inevitable. One copyright lawsuit goes through and it falls like a house of cards. And it fucking deserves it. Copyright's entire purpose is making it safe to share your work without having to compete against yourself. No judge worth a strand of hair would doubt that AI uses artist's data against artists to do exactly that.

Stop telling me that they'll eventually be good just off of public domain, the day public domain is big enough for that is too far in the future for us to imagine.

STOP TELLING ME THEY LEARN LIKE PEOPLE. IT WOULD TAKE ALMOST 2000 YEARS to look at the 63 TRILLION images Midjourney is trained even if you only looked at every image for A SINGLE SECOND.
