I think the reason the brocedes crash is so iconic is that unlike almost every other Great Rivalry Crash (seb hitting Lewis / Michael hitting Jacques and Damon / Senna hitting Prost) nobody drove into anybody deliberately, nobody made a mistake, nobody dishonoured the sport, it is JUST good racing. They were racing each other that hard pushing each other to the absolute limit and refusing to give an inch. One gets pushed onto the grass and they're racing so close that it wipes them both out. It's about how it fits the whole brocedes narrative myth - even if that myth isn't real if it's a fiction created by an audience, this is the moment that it crystallizes.
