How to be happy
You know that tape that plays in the back of your head when you’re falling asleep? Maybe its a breakup, or a fight with your mom, or that time the kid across the room caught you picking your nose in sixth grade.
I want you to film over that tape with a moment that hasn’t happened yet. I want you to think about all the things that are the opposite of that. Being a rockstar and flying, and what you wanted to be when you were little. And make a movie in your head and live in that movie like you did when you were five and you thought about what it would be like to be a grown up.
Play that movie. Hold onto that moment, and every time you catch footage from the old tape rolling, film over it again. Force it if you have to. And most importantly, want it harder than you want to fix what’s already happened. And I’ll tell you from experience it sounds cheesy and it feels like lying at first, but the more you do it and the harder you want it to be true, the easier it gets.
