Not book smart or street smart but a secret third thing.

Seeing people I know and like using AI is making me understand the protagonists of those old time sci fi dystopia's.
"Oh I don't normally use AI, I just wanted it to plan my trip"
You lived on this planet for decades, you know what you like, there are hundreds of websites where you can type into any search engine " things to do in [area]" and have at least a hundred different options.
"Oh I only use it so I can figure out what to make during the week with what I have"
The most popular website as you type in "recipes" into google have sections where you click dinner- quick and easy and those usually rely on staples + 1 or 2 items. I found 30 recipes on chicken alone.
"I had a writing idea, so I typed a few sentences into Chat GPT and I was able to write 20 pages with it."
Youdidn'twriteit.Youdidn'twriteit.youdidn'twriteit.youdidn'twriteit.YOUDIDN'TWRITEIT.YOUDIDN'TWRITEIT.YOUDIDN'TWRITEIT.
UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.
________
You will be remembered as a hero. ________
For those wondering about the fox. Grace has a subtle motif with this animal throughout the movie, but especially this shot where they pack this toy fox with his belongings on the Hail Mary. The pose of it looked a little haunting to me, thus prompting this illustration. __________ (Small/large prints are also available on my etsy ❤️)
i love this part so much theyre so stupid . look at them
ok I know everyone’s considered Ryland grace wearing an “I put the ace in space” t shirt but. have we considered the infinitely funnier option of putting this shirt on eva stratt
I had to draw this
having 40 minutes to leave the house is terrible because 40 minutes is basically 30 minutes and 30 minutes is basically 20 minutes and 20 minutes is basically fifteen seconds. but 50 minutes? 50 minutes is an hour, and an hour? ooobh thats plany off time
today I found out my mother doesn’t know what dandelions are and now I’m wondering what other strange secrets she’s been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you don’t have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
she’s aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
For comparison, this is a daffodil
See, folks in the southern US will tell you up and down those are buttercups, actually.
i don’t think so? i’m southern and buttercups are what we call these things (much tinier)
Wait I thought those bigger cup ones were Easter Lillies???
This is an Easter Lily. It is an actual lily and therefore deadly to cats.
They’re marigolds and I know a bitch when I see one!
This is a marigold:
….we need to start taking the phrase “go touch grass” more literally. go outside and examine a flower i beg u
“don’t take it personally” how would you like me to take it then? professionally? romantically? academically?
i dont think straight people should be allowed to do "enemies to lovers" i think if a man is your enemy you need to trust that you were correct the first time and slay him in battle
Listen can I be a sap for one sec? Can you hear me out?
Do you understand how much it meant to me that Stratt was never seen in anything other than comfy loose business clothes in the movie? Her every outfit is layers, loose pants, a turtleneck sweater, scarves. Ever article of clothing is about her comfort alone, literally not one bit of it serves any other function.
Do you understand how rare that is? What that means? To me and probably every other person who was raised to feel like their body was a display model only? Other characters that might have comfy outfits inevitably have this moment where they suddenly dress like a bombshell, like it's their debut as a romantic candidate.
But not Eva Stratt. She got to be interesting purely for the person she is. We got to see HER. Focus on her character and not her body. To this DAY it blows my mind. Every time I see her dressed this way that feeling of being bowled over by it renews.
Eva Stratt continues to take my breath away for all the right reasons. That woman is ethereal and I can say that about her character without every having known what her body even looks like. Thank god.
“Terf is a slur used to silence us” dang bitch I wish it worked shut the fuck up
no one cares that you shave your legs because of sensory issues shut the fuck up forever
really galling amount of people misinterpreting this post so i'd like to clarify. i'm saying that when discussions about patriarchal beauty standards and the way women are heavily shamed and coerced into eschewing their own natural state of being (hairy) are occurring, it is unhelpful (AT BEST) to interrupt and say that the reason YOU remove the hair from your body is because of sensory issues. that's not what we're talking about. stop asking for validation for doing something that society at large wants you to do. stop derailing the conversation because you feel uncomfortable about being made aware that you, for whatever reason it is, adhere to harmful, unfair and ridiculous beauty standards. you're stepping into the middle of an important conversation that needs to be had and making it all about you. shut the fuck up forever.
also quite frankly i think a lot less people would experience sensory issues if they let their hair grow out so that it isn't bristly and rough and irritating. and i cannot help but wonder why these sensory issues aren't as predominant in men. maybe you're uncomfortable with the hair on your body because you've been taught to be uncomfortable with it. just a thought.
So I’ve just finished rewatching Dark (2017) on Netflix, and I think it’s proof that it’s possible to deliver a high-quality piece of art if that’s genuinely the goal, and if you don’t let the prospect of making more money get in the way, because that show is objectively fucking perfect.
There are no plot holes, no filler episodes, and no room for useless spin-offs, because everything is resolved. You get the sense that the writers knew exactly what they were doing and where the story was going at every single moment of every episode. It’s evident they did extensive research across several fields of study, and yes, it’s crazy, but they still managed to make it make sense. It was carefully and deliberately written, with the story meticulously planned from beginning to end.
The visuals, references, storytelling, mystery, pacing, and symbolism were amazing. The casting was mind-blowing. And the show also had a finale that couldn’t have been better. Not only did it wrap everything up perfectly, but there weren’t even any fan theories that could possibly top it. There couldn’t be. It had to be done exactly the way the writers intended.
And even if there were other ways it could have ended, you wouldn’t bother considering them... because it was perfect as it was. Nothing could have made more sense.
That’s something I’ve rarely seen, if ever.
That’s how a show should be written.
i just finished playing lis reunion for the first time, i will FOREVER mourn what safield couldve been 💔
