If you're a book reader and a fan of your local library, you should join in their summer reading challenge if it's open to adults - most are.
Not only do you have the opportunity to win prizes for reading, which you are going to do anyway, it helps libraries when they're seeking funding when they can show a high level of engagement with their programming. It demonstrates that the library is an important community resource.
Have fun and help your local library!
It LOOKS like a mug but is actually the latest in McKay-wrangling technology.

5- we need to stay focused with any ship pls!!
Prompt List Ask
We need to stay focused & McShep
“We need to stay focused.”
Rodney paused in the middle of what he was doing, ignoring the shaking of the ship under him and the blaring alarms so he could turn and stare at Sheppard who was in the middle of talking to the rest of the team. Ronon looked bored, and Teyla had the same neutral expression she always had on her face whenever Sheppard was saying something.
“We?” Rodney demanded, letting go of the cables so he could turn and stare at Sheppard whos eyes shot toward him, mouth opening but Rodney had been running on too little sleep for too long to let him get a word in. “What is this we you are referring to because it seems like we,” here he paused and waved a hand at himself, “are doing all of the work while we,” he waved toward the other three, “are standing around in a circle so what is this we!”
Before anyone else could reply, a loud explosion rocked the ship and sent everyone stumbling. Rodney, for once, managed to stay standing but any irritation faded in favor of turning back to what he was doing his hands working faster than his panic as he fought to bypass the security systems so they could get to the docking bay and into the jumper and get of off the ship.
It wasn’t even something they had done, for once. They had shown up, looking at a few things and then things had started exploding. Footsteps had Rodney’s heart racing as he shot a look over his shoulder, relaxing when he spotted Lorne and the rest of his team. “You couldn’t have brought Radek today?” Rodney snapped, turning back to what he was doing.
“Sorry, Doc. I’ll have a little better foresight next time,” Lorne said, unflappable as always. “Colonel, we have everyone accounted for.”
“Good, good, as soon as McKay gets the door open we’re leaving,” Sheppard replied.
In the end, it took Rodney another thirty seconds and two explosions to get the door open before he was being dragged through the door by Ronon and forced into a run toward the jumpers. They made it, the hatch sliding shut a second before the ship started to come apart around them, rocking them side to side but the shields held and they made it out.
Open space had never looked so good as the relief rushed through the jumper and even Rodney let out a breath at yet another call that was too close for comfort. But only one breath, because he had a bone to pick as he rotated the chair to look at Sheppard who already had a long suffering look on his face, as if he expecting this.
“What exactly did you mean, we need to stay focused?”
Anyone out there living with a chronic illness? How do you deal with it? It’s isolating and hugely depressing. The medication alone is a big challenge. I can’t do even basic stuff. I used to run around raising 5 boys largely by myself. I loved that time in my life.
Perfect contentment.

A few years back, I was on my way to a conference and going through TSA. An agent stopped me as I stepped out of the scanner. She informed me that she had to pat me down because I had a “suspicious crotch” I thought that would make a great name for use on tumblr and ao3.

You don't have any idea who I'm talking about, do you? –No, sir. Hell, it was you, first sergeant.
This is so impactful to me. I had sons who served.
I am once again begging people to realize that AI checker doesn’t work. it’s never worked. it’s notoriously known to have flagged human-made works as AI and AI-generated works as human-made. and by feeding it people’s works, you are feeding more works to AI, because apparently the machine itself is AI.
the only thing AI checker does is harm genuine artists and people in general too.

SHIT.
