Knuckles
Guardian of the Master Emerald. The Controler and the Balancer. Beloved child of Chaos/Order.
He/him or title.
The Guardian does not have a name; Knuckles was a nickname given to him by Sonic & Co., who either think that to be his birth name or forgot that it was a nickname.
Knuckles never says that "Knuckles" is his name-- he introduces himself as 'the Guardian of the master Emerald'. Then Sonic or Co. eater introduces him as Knuckles or he says he is called Knuckles when asked for a name.
Sonic and Co. are not the first people to nickname him "Knuckles" he was called "Knuckles" in language equivalents many times during his time outside the island. He was also called worse so "knuckles" is acceptable.
An echidna hatched by the M.E by chaos energy to be its guardian. It Loves them very much.
The last Echidna, the rest went extinct 2000-3500 years ago.
Immortal and unageing after his physical maturity reaches age 25, currently he is 17 physically and thought to be 17 chronologically.
Knuckles is unaware of this. He physically matures at the rate that the M.E. wants him to, and his aging has sped up to match Sonic & Co. kinda.
He does not know how long he was on the F.I., and everyone assumed he was older than Sonic but not a teenager when he was found by Eggman. Argo, he was thought to be around 12- early 13.
Before Sonic & Co. arrived, the flow of time was very hard for Knuckles to keep track of long-term. All he knows is that he is the only living echidna and sapient thing on Angel Island, and everyone was dead before he was hatched.
Knuckles does not know much about the life, culture, customs, and technology of the surface. Others either forget this, underestimate how little he knows, or don't know about this lack of information.
A list of people who know a lot about mobian/human culture to the ones who know almost nothing. a list
Sonic & Tails: they traveled so much that they picked up general cultural knowledge from everywhere they went, whether they use this knowledge is irrelevant, they know it.
Amy, Ms. Vinnila, the Chaotixs, or the avrege person.: knows the general rules for whichever culture they reside in, may or may not know another culture's.
Shadow, Blaze, and Sliver: have a culture or cultural knowledge like the current one, and friends know that there may be a cultural disconnect, but they may or may not know any do's or dots of the current culture, but they do know the basic rules and customs for modern society.
Knuckles. Working off of a 35,000-year-old culture that he never experienced with another person due to being raised by the M.E alone on an island with a lot of old books and a duty. The challenges he faces include having a different language to translate everything into, primarily because he does not know English well. Besides, People tend to expect him to understand the context of sayings and phrases, as well as how modern society and its structures work since Knuckles is very skilled at observing and making educated guesses of what to do in the moment. This assumption makes it difficult for him to grasp modern culture and common phrases.
Badass who's extremely Overpowered when not holding back due to his role. A Cryptid to the rest of the world.
English is not his first language, he is still learning the English vocabulary (most people don't release this.)
He was born knowing the ancient echidna language (Mam- is the language in Google Translate) he calls the M.E "Txub'l" or mother when speaking his mother tongue.
Why Mam? It originated from the ancient "Proto-Mayan" language, spoken by the Maya people thousands of years ago during the Mayan Empire. So it has ancient language roots that do not sound too much like Spanish or have -to me at least- any closely sounding words to any common language.
Also understands the M.E and chaos emeralds, they speak with projections of emotion and imagery. And speaking to them in this way can be called a second fluent language to him.
He can understand the written form of most ancient languages due to their being a dictionary of words, and phrases for each language or a "how to learn (...)"/ "a merchants guide to (...) culture" book for any of the ancient echidnas' trading partners.
He can speak ancient Babylonian though for a different reason. When the children of Babylon an alien civilization got stranded on Earth they explored and eventually found Angel Island, thankfully these people did not find the M.E. but they did kidnap knuckles off Angel Island to study and use him (gladiator pits, slave labor, testing his immortality when they found out about it,), this lasted until Knuckles broke out thankfully the Babylonians at that point did not truly care if he left or not. So Knuckles was stuck on the surface until he figured out a way back to Angel Island.
Lots of stuff happened during this time but the main points can be summarized into.
Knuckles got kidnapped into slavery and the gladiator pits again-- but for a shorter time.
Knuckles became an outlaw with bounty hunters after him.
During this time knuckles got his first foray into treasure hunting.
Knuckles lives on Angel Island.
A mythical floating island that can move, unknown to the world it can also teleport, and fade out of physical reality at either the M.E.'s will or Knuckles' request.
Also called the Floating Isle/island.
The island hangs out in the lower stratosphere to upper-middle troposphere normally.
The M.E. prevents the island from feeling the effects of such a high altitude.
Populated by chaos, common, rare, and extinct plants and animals including knuckles.
Wisps started to live on Angel Island too, after Sonic colors.
After the initial near extinction of the echidnas by CHAOS the water spirit, the echidnas lived on Angel Island guarding the master emerald. An unknown amount of time later these echidnae released that their species was going to die, so they set traps and wrote everything down -from children's books to medical texts to personal memoirs- with no regard for whether they were repeating others, then Organized this cultural library into subgroups and separate libraries for them to hide and lockup everywhere along with the M.E in places only an echidna could open.
There is a map on which each library, trap, and structure on Angel Island is located, along with books on everything upkeep, creation, and maintenance as well as a compendium and index for every topic. This is in the most secured library, trapped so only the guardian of the M.E can enter. This library contains sacred information regarding how to care for, use, and protect, the M.E and Angel Island, along with how to use chaos energy and the chaos emeralds, perform miracles, balance chaos and order, and the true origin of everything and the beginning of the universe.
Angel Island needs to go into stasis once every decade or so.
This removes the negative effect of prolonged exposure to the M.E. and converts it to a boost to everything on the island instead. This repairs and revitalizes everything on the island, including previously destroyed parts.
Yes, this would repair Sky Sanctuary.
This is a vacation for the guardian of the M.E. that lasts 6-ish months.
The M.E. does this by bringing the island into the lower thermosphere where any aurora Borealis is happening, pulling the island and whatever on it out of reality and essentially making it a mirage to the rest of the world.
Nothing can interact with the island during this time.
Knuckles has been putting this off since he befriended Sonic and Co. and the island started to need it.
biological and personality quirks
Biology
Echidnas are spiny monotremes... that I am adding Platypus/Chao traits too.
Can sense chaos energy and electricity with great precision around 1 mile wide for electricity and 5 miles wide for chaos energy with his electrosensors.
Range only applies to the surface world, on Angel Island distance is irrelevant. Knuckles will know the minute you approach even 5 miles of his island.
The electricity senses also count toward muscle movement and electric currents.
This sense is boosted by the M.E. beyond what a normal echidna can sense.
Has spurs on his index and pinky knuckle.
They move with his hand and also contain venom.
Both the venom and spurs are why echidnas (with spurs) wear gloves, it is so that they can punch people without killing them or causing chronic pain.
Gloves have padding and blocks so that the spurs don't inject venom or draw blood.
The venom is like a platypus-- extreme pain but nonlethal.
Has large claws great for digging and climbing.
His quills are sharper than hedgehogs (ex. Sonic, Amy, Sliver) but not as sharp as Shadows (alien).
86.4-91.4F average body temperature.
Can stand extreme temperature fluctuations without dying.
Very strong swimmer.
Can do a purr equlivent.
He can glide.
Why? How? idk the M.E. made it so.
It's a combination of his quills, the M.E., and the wind.
This is a knuckles-only trait.
tail
The bend is a joint that is in its relaxed state when bent (exe: sloth hands) the tail will straighten when Knuckles is shocked or electrocuted.
Can wag.
Omnivore, but with intimidatingly sharp teeth.
Has a normal diet of ants, termites, worms, insect larvae, and sometimes meat, with a lot of fruits and vegetables.
Has a long and thin tongue that can spike out a needle to skewer bugs.
Personality
The more nervous Knuckles gets without becoming frustrated or angry, the more formal his speech becomes until he starts speaking the ancient echidna language.
He can do handcrafts like, pottery making, weaving, metalworking (basic), woodworking (carpentry), stone carving, leatherworking, beading, and jewelry making.
Knuckles, despite this, does not consider himself a creative person.

Mirror AU:
Even separated by time and space, Emmet and Ingo somehow manage to match each other in more ways than just their appearances. It's entirely accidental... Until half a year after Ingo's disappearance when they realize that they can see each other in mirrors. From then on, they are a lot more hopeful about their futures. Nimbasa City, however, is not hopeful as the Subway Boss speedruns a transformation from a poor little meow meow to a full blown cryptid.
Prophet and Heretic AU:
Before he can join the Pearl Clan, Ingo goes to the rift on Mount Coronet for answers. Palkia and Dialga are too busy throwing hands to hear. Arceus does, though, and oh geez he should have thought things through before appearing before a mortal. By the time Ingo recovers from his holy fainting spell, he has all his memories back, spooky god powers, and a new headmate. At least Arceus promised to return him home in return for completing some quest to save the world...
Centuries in the future, a very lonely and remorseful Giratina approaches Emmet with a deal.
Paper Lantern AU:
When Ingo gets torn from his own time, he gets torn from his body as well. With nothing but his human soul, he possesses a paper lantern and invents a regional variant of Chandelure. His ace would be so proud. Meanwhile, Emmet is left with Ingo's alive but verrry much comatose body.
Ditto Emmet AU:
I just wanted to hit one of the boys with a shape shifter beam and Emmet is my favorite. A lot fun shape shifter things here. Like family fluff and body horror! And also Emmet copying the incarnation of time itself, hehehe-
Ghost Train AU (Danny Phantom Crossover):
The Distortion World is really just the Pokemon world's name for their version of the Ghost Zone. Ingo and Dawn get eaten up by a couple of natural portals, and two newly formed halfas arrive in Hisui a year apart. Arceus won't touch ghost child Akari with a ten-foot pole, but it all works out in the end anyways because Akari can't not help the nobles, and the Distortion World/Ghost Zone is a great medium for traversing time and space.
Submas Fusion AU:
Ingo and Emmet went to hisui together, but the distortion world said they can't have nice things. A man with no idea who or what he is woke up in a black and white coat in the coronet highlands, with only a handful of Joltik to protect him. He couldn't remember his name, but E and I came to mind. So, he guesses his name is Ei now...
Gear Session:
Homestuck au!
Arceus found a copy of Sburb in the Pokemon world and thought "that's not good" and sent the Nimbasa trio plus Akari on a mission to destroy the incipisphere from the inside out. No reckoning destroying the earth or frog breeding here, but there is a lot of temporary death. You know. Prototyping dream selves and questbeds and all that.
Fluff and Scales AU:
Hybrid au, but Ingo and Emmet are legendary hybrids.
Ingo and Emmet were born with black and white dragon wings. No one recognized them, so it was chalked up to a couple undiscovered species of pokemon and life continued as normal. But Drayden always suspected there was something more to them than that.
His suspicions were confirmed during the Team Plasma invasion, after which everyone and their mother knew what the dragons of legend looked like. And anyone who had ever been to Nimbasa could recognize the white fluff and black scales.
Also featuring Arceus hybrid Jackie and Absol hybrid Beni.
Tron AU:
Ingo got eebied to the grid instead of Hisui! He runs around the computer systems of Unova for about a month thinking he's a program, until he finds Gear station. The train autopilot programs, called ATOs, help their poor amnesiac User remember who he is, while someone unexpected brings Emmet into the digital world to help.
Thrice is a Pattern:
There were three skyfallers in Hisui. The first was an accident. The second was a failed rescue attempt. The third was the one who saved them all. Trainer Dawn never makes it back home after entering the distortion world, ending up in Hisui instead. Ingo is sent to the past to make it right, but he forgets his mission before he can even start. It's up to Lucas, now.
Kabaneri au:
Crossover with Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress! Instead of frenzies, Giratina unleashes a corruption on Hisui that turns people and pokemon into mindless zombies called Kabane. Arceus sends Dawn to cleanse the region, and promises she will be immune to the curse. He fails to mention that to do so, he will have to take away her humanity first.

God okay so I’m going to say this now; PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not risk your health or anyone’s in the form of getting a “cheap” binder of ebay or where ever. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save your $4-$10 dollars for those cheap ebay ones and put it towards a gc2b binder. Or if you want an Underworks go for that but I highly suggest gc2b. They’re about $40 (with shipping) and will last you WAY longer than any cheap ebay one. They are MEANT for lasting you. I wash mine many times week, wear it daily, Wear them daily. I have two. Had them for almost a year now. But I cannot urge you enough to PLEASE save up your pennies for a PROPER SAFE binder. Binders you can breathe in, binders you can move in, binders that don’t crush your ribs, binders that are comfortable, binders that are safe.

Used Binders
If you can’t afford a binder, don’t despair! Used binders are often passed on by post-op trans men or those whose binders may no longer fit. There are a few programs available that help distribute donated second-hand binders:
In A Bind – Started in 2012, to date In a Bind has provided safe compression garments to over 1500 youth in need. Trans* masculine and genderqueer youth living anywhere in the USA can apply to receive a free binder. In a Bind depends on donations. Recently had top surgery? Go up or down a size? Find a style that works better for you? Donate those binders you’re no longer using!

MORF Binder Exchange – Since February 2011, MORF has been providing free binders to trans* masculine people in the UK and around the world. The free scheme (all you pay is the postage) has so far redistributed hundreds of binders. In 2014 alone, over 280 binders were sent out.

How to Choose a Chest Binder
If you still remember your old bra size, you can find out your binder size by using theBra to Chest Size Converter Tool. If you don’t know your old bra size, you can measure yourself the old-fashioned way:
Take a snug measurement of the fullest part of your chest using a tape measure (best if measured while clothed) and write that number down onto a sheet of paper.
Measure underneath your chest where the crease is and write that number down as well.
Add those numbers together and divide the sum by 2. This number will differentiate your size not only from brand to brand but from binder to binder as well.
Selecting a binder brand and style can be difficult: there are so many options that it can be overwhelming! Essentially, there are two types of binders: short ones and long ones. The short ones end right at your waist. The down side of these is that if you carry some extra weight, short binders tend to roll up and act more like a bra. Put your binder inside out and upside down.
Step into your binder and pull the bottom of it up, ideally to your belt line. The binder should still be inside out and upside down.
Use the sleeves as handles to pull the top of the binder (the end closer to your feet) up to your shoulders.
Put your arms through the sleeve holes and adjust your chest to your needs. You may need to pull the bottom of the binder out from underneath itself if you don’t want it folded under. For others, leaving it folded under may help stop the binder from rolling up.
Don’t be disappointed if you look in the mirror and it looks like you have one big boob in the middle of your chest. You just need to adjust your chest. Reach in from the neck hole and push your chesticles down and out. You’re basically pushing your nipple toward your armpit to achieve the flattest looking chest possible.
FTM Chest Binding Tips
Very important: When binding, you should not by any means feel as though you can’t breathe or like you’re going to pass out from a lack of oxygen.
Binders aren’t the most comfortable things in the world. To make binding more comfortable, and to reduce the possibility of the binder moving around a bit, some guys wear a light shirt underneath.
Depending on the size of your chest, you may need to layer clothing on top of the binder to get optimal chest flattening. You’ll find that some of the shirts in your closet require you to layer more than shirts in your wardrobe.
You can swim in your binder. Just wear a sleeveless or sleeved T-shirt over it. Don’t worry if your binder seems less effective after a swim, this isn’t permanent. Simply wash it and it will go back to normal.
Your chest will look bigger than it really is when you look down at it. Check in the mirror for a more accurate side view.
Not all binders breathe well, and the reality is that you’re probably going to get hot. If you’ve already started testosterone, you’re definitely going to sweat. The build up of sweat can irritate your skin causing rashes and sores. Wearing a thin cotton shirt that breathes well underneath your binder may help prevent this. If you find this uncomfortable, try applying corn starch to your body before putting on your binder to help keep it from holding in moisture. If you’ve already experienced skin irritation of some sort, take care of it the same way you would an open wound. Washing the irritated area with anti-bacterial soap will keep it clean and help it heal faster.

Imagine him shifting into a standard piglin form, watching, amused, as dream flaunts his admin powers, mocks phil, laughs at the weakness of the blood god. Imagine the horror of everyones faces as he survives the anvil, imagine their fear when it shatters, sending a thousand burning shards of iron cascading over the executioners. Imagine techno laughing, tearing apart the cage and walking to dream. Imagine techno taunting dream—“you reveal everything about yourself, dream. Yes yes yeS YES YES!!! t h a t is what im talking about!! Theyre powerful and everyone can tell—you dont get nicknames like that for nothing—but its nothing big, just being strong or seeming like they were holding back but every once n a while people notice them taking down a jungle tree with a casual swipe of their axe or how they heal a lot quicker or how their stories dont really seem to come from this century and they brush it off as techno being a history nerd or them just being old and then they reveal themselves and everyone just realizes how MUCH theyve been holding out, the sheer power and strength could be felt, even by people who arent that in tune with that sort of stuff and all of them just thank whatever powers above—god, thatd be techno, wouldnt it—that techno didnt do more damage to them. Gods get bored, apparently, and they dont take kindly to admins imitating them
