Kind of funny how when you're obsessed with a certain character their mere presence on your screen can lift your mood. Like yeah I have probably like 10 diagnosed and undiagnosed ways my brain works atypically but one of those quirks makes it possible for The Character to salvage my whole day.

you can, however, choose not to see these things by muting, blocking, filtering out tags
censorship has no place in fanfics or any other form of art
darkfics are not harmful
censorship is harmful
harassing real people over fiction is harmful
the fictional characters you try to protect are not real
artists who you harass for making art thatâs not to your approval and personal liking are real
harassing real people over fiction will never make you morally superior, it just makes you a bully
What the fuck is a kudos ratio??? Kudos are for the authors to know you enjoyed their work not for people to automatically discredit a fic because the âhits to kudosâ ratio is âoffâ?????

one of the best decisions Iâve made was leave wattpad for archive of our own
âwhatâs the tea?â wattpad is pro censorship and driven mainly by capitalism, any work that is taboo and work that is just âsmut without plotâ is considered against wattpadâs rules and it can get removed if someone reports it to wattpad.
wattpad is also literally full of ads. if you want an ad-free wattpad experience, you will have to subscribe to wattpad premium. this wonât protect your works from censorship, it will just remove ads for you â so you can read fics without getting interrupted by ads every time you move to the next chapter.
also I guess wattpad premium allows you to download as many works as you want to read offline. whereas if youâre on free plan, you can only download a few works to read offline.
I believe the platform recently updates their rules. nothing changes. you still get ads and censorship. but they just make the rules more strict in regards of smut without any real plot. so basically their new policy just makes things even worse for their own users.
mind you, on ao3, thereâs zero censorship. you can post the most filthy porn without plot fic on ao3. you can post the most taboo fic on ao3. ao3 was created specifically to host this exact type of fic. and also. no ads. you can download as many fics as you want to read offline. and everything is free.
as a former wattpad writer, I do not regret leaving wattpad for ao3. itâs a whole new world of complete freedom and creativity here. literally made by fans for fans. no ads. no censorship. no capitalism bs. thank you ao3 âĄ

hating a popular character is actually much more soul crushing than liking an unpopular character, as someone who does both constantly. liking an unpopular character gives you the chance to be the Number One Character Fan and everybody knows you as the Character Guy and even if the fan content is scarce, you are adding positivity to the fandom. absolutely hating a fan favourite character will have you twisting yourself in knots going yes yes i acknowledge their complexity yes yes i will never ever post hate in the main tags yes yes you're allowed to like them. when what you really wanna do is post about how much character sucks. but you Cant.

just love an unclassifiable weird intense relationship. what are they to each other well they're two of them. what are their feelings towards each other they're strong ones for sure. and of course this can only be improved when one or both of them are in happy committed romantic/sexual relationships with someone else entirely, and then there's whatever the fuck these two have going on.
i hate how much people care about their ships being "canon" now. spirk fans didn't publish zines full of fanfics in the 70s only for modern fandom to grovel at the knees of corporations and beg for things to be canon. use your imaginations, don't allow billionaires to think for you.
writer culture is going through every comment you've ever had while kicking your feet and giggling
love it when an extremely high-functioning and put-together character gets slammed with something that would topple any lesser person but continues to function in an alarmingly efficient manner while everyone who knows and cares about them flutters anxiously around them like "please lie down please rest please accept medical attention" while the high-functioning character just looks askance at all their concerned faces like "what are you talking about? I'm perfectly fine" as tiny cracks start appearing in their demeanor and facade
one of the most annoying ripple effects of fandom culture is the way so many people canât seem to keep it in perspective that at the end of the day theyâre just talking about art. it feels like i am trapped between people who are like âif you dare criticize the thing i like you are basically personally coming into my house and stealing my dog and shooting my jewelryâ and people who are like âglobal communism is being stopped from succeeding because steven universe is on the air.â and call me a centrist but i donât think either of those things are true
