Thereās a website where you can learn ASL (American Sign Language) on your own, free and itās a 31 Day program! The woman on there, her name is Rochelle Barlow, she runs the site and she actually is a homeschool teacher and teaches ASL. I am passing this on to some of you guys cause most of yāall on here is open-minded and curious and it is something important to learn.
I truly believe this site is helpful for some people who can not afford to going to ASL classes, or someone like me that just enjoys learning something new. This site will help with that. Once you sign up you will put in your email address and Rochelle sends you emails on tips on how to sign, gives you practice sheets, and gives you your weekly videos. And its all online. No need to paying for anything. (Unless if you want to she has something very different to this program)Ā
IMO and yes, this site is really amazing and is important because you never know if someone who is deaf or HOH needs help, if you end up losing your hearing ability this is something you will at least have on the back of your head, and it is just like any other language and should be taught.Ā
My mom just sent me this picture of my dogā¦I guess we got a lot of snow, then

I appreciate your devotion to the solitary lifestyle⦠however with all real estate the most important thing is location location location.

Gender and pleasure
So much of the Euro-American understanding of being trans (or anything other than 100% constantly identified with your assigned gender) focuses on discomfort.Ā
Some people take this idea to an extreme and claim you canāt be trans unless you hate your body and want every surgery available to you. As many other writers have said before, thatās not true. Itās perfectly possible to be trans with only mild dysphoria or none at all. Itās perfectly possible to be trans and have a mental map of your body that looks just like the one you already have.Ā
But Iād like to push even harder against the idea that trans=discomfort. Iād like to offer this: sometimes the exploration of oneās gender can be motivated by pleasure rather than discomfort.Ā
Let me give an example. Letās say thereās a person named Cal. Most people think of Cal as a boy, and Calās all right with that. So far as Calās concerned, a boy isnāt a bad thing to be. But sometimes, Cal likes to imagine being a girl and being treated as a girl. Those fantasies are always accompanied by feelings of pleasure, satisfaction, anticipation, and warmth. Eventually, having had these thoughts for years, Cal asks people to use āsheā pronouns in private and to refer to her as a girl. Cal does this for another year before claiming the label ātransā.Ā
Some people would say a person like Cal canāt be trans because thereās no dysphoria, self-hatred, distress, or even discomfort. Thereās just a pleasure-based preference. But why is distress necessary? Why are trans people supposed to be defined solely by our pain and self-hatred?
Itās my opinion that defining trans people solely by discomfort is an aspect of transphobia. The idea behind trans=discomfort is that being anything other than 100% cis is so awful that no one would do it unless the alternative were unlivable. Think about that: defining trans people solely by their experiences of discomfort means believing that being trans is so awful that only misery could drive us to it. And to me, that sounds like the thinking of someone who really hates trans people.
So Iāll come out and say it: sometimes transition or self-exploration of gender is not just about lessening discomfort,Ā but is about improving and deepening the pleasure we take in our lives.Ā
āThink about that: defining trans people solely by their experiences of discomfort means believing that being trans is so awful that only misery could drive us to it.ā
Alright thereās an ask I donāt really know how to answer in the ask box so just look at this; this is what I, Mod Quinn(blog admin) sticks strongly to. Read it please, its worth the read.
