When it comes to clothes, Alex's taste is aggressively utilitarian. She finds gaudiness and displays of wealth extremely distasteful. On top of that she's spent her entire life as either a soldier or an outlaw, with limited opportunities to play with fashion even if she wanted to.

Like most working-class people in the post-fall world and especially in Ironfrost, she dresses in layers, generally with a bulkier coat at the top and a tank top underneath. Temperatures can go from significantly below freezing outside to sweltering indoors in the poorly climate controlled furnace-heated lower levels of the city. She prefers baggier pants tucked into her boots because I like how it balances her ears character-design wise because she has short little legs and doesn't want snow getting into her boots.

Notably, she prefers muted, dark colors in colors and cuts socially associated with working-class men (the browns, grays, and navy blues hide soot and dirt from infamously grimy furnace and mining jobs better). Aside from the tank top undershirts, most of her clothes are made of thick bulky fabric and a size too big. She mostly dresses like her male peers, but does keep her hair long for plausible deniability (here might be a good place to draw attention to the fact that she cuts her hair short in her fantasy about escaping Ironfrost's clutches and living freely).

The weird high-collared neckpieces of the Old Kingdoms are a thing of the distant past, but echos of the style lives on in the thick, cable-knit turtleneck sweaters that are the default cold-weather apparel for much of Ironfrost'. Like Hyden, Alex is very familiar with having to trim her neck fluff to better fit a high collar (which then necessitates scarves to keep warm until the fur grows back).

The only "nice" items of clothing she owns are cold-weather work boots rugged enough to survive a second apocalypse and a heavy wool bridge coat. The latter is both practical cold-weather gear and something that can be paired with a Koivistolainen hat in a semi-fashionable women's style to pass unnoticed in wealthier areas of the Ironfrost.
