Hello there! My name is Apollo and my pronouns are it/xe/they and my main blog is @i-never-grew-up!

This blog is heavily inspired by @our-gnc-experience, @our-queer-experience, and @our-transgender-experiences. I made this blog because I've noticed that there're not many specific safe spaces for GNC trans people, so as a GNC trans person myself (when this blog was made, not really anymore tho), I made one!

Intersex solidarity from a frat bro, of all people: a biology professor refused to stop using the h-slur because it's "a medical term". Cue the frat bro in the front going, "Dude, it's a porn term, you can't use it on real people - oh. Oh! You, uh, you know there's, like, support groups for that, right?" and for the rest of this entire semester he has treated this professor like a porn addict. I'm talking him signing the professor's email up for online support groups, educating people in class on how porn addiction works + how because porn addiction lights up a different part of the brain than other addictions normal addiction treatments don't work on it as effectively, and shutting people down who use the h-slur with "that's a porn word and porn shouldn't use it either but you definitely shouldn't use it since you're supposedly a grown-ass adult. like, are you going to use 'bbc' and shit unironically, too? grow up."

Apparently frat bro's best friend used to have a porn addiction and during her recovery process she learned the correct term was intersex and not the h-slur. And now said frat bro hears the slur and takes it as a red flag for addiction. But he's not all anti-addict or condescending about it, he just looks at people and goes, "dude, come on. You're better than this. Are you seriously going to let some videos on a screen control your life? Come on, man, you've got this."

The professor filed with the Dean of Students Office to say this frat bro was harassing him. The frat bro said he'd accept those charges on his record, no objections, if the school searched the professor's work laptop and there wasn't porn on it. The university searched said laptop. There was. There was so much on it. Including 15 gigabytes of f*ta/h-slur porn.

I wasn't expecting allyship from the frat bro who looks like every hiker bro you meet here in Colorado but I could not be more grateful. Lots of people on campus are talking about this and how the h-word is a porn term now. And I don't think we'd have had that happen if this man hadn't clocked the professor as having a bad vibe and stuck to his gut feeling.

This is intersex solidarity.

Does he do weddings? As the groom? Not only was he RIGHT, he wasn't condescending, he seemed ACTUALLY concerned and he was spreading the word around to stop using the slur. This is glorious. I hope this actually happened bc it just made my day 😭

My best advice I can offer to anyone questioning their gender (or sexuality or romantic orientation); choose whatever label fits best or don’t choose one at all. You don’t have to define it if it’s too confusing or complex.

I saw a post somewhere and forgive me because I can’t quote it word for word because I forgot so I’ll paraphrase, but it basically said that labels won’t always be 100% accurate and it’s okay to choose ones that explain your experience only 25%/100, or 75%/100, it all just depends on you. And I think that’s the best advice I could’ve heard because I was questioning my sexuality and romantic orientation once again during the time I read it. The weight was lifted when I found a label that works but doesn’t describe my experience completely, it’s as close as I’ll get, and I reminded myself that that’s okay.

Sometimes labels make us feel better and it’s valid to want to have one, but remember that they don’t always have to explain what you’re feeling completely. But labels are also only tools, so if you don’t need them or can’t find one that works then don’t use them. Or just create your own if you want to be creative.

Hey, just an update.

I recently realised that I am agender, and thus I don't really identify as GNC anymore (sorry)

I will, however, keep this blog up and continue to post on it as I believe that I can still keep a safe space for a group open even if I am no longer part of it.
