I fucking HATE Donald Trump. I hate him and I have sooooo much horrible things to say about him but I will never use ableism as to express that hate. Using ableism against ppl u hate makes you ableist.

Yes actually I do think we should be able to walk down the street with self injury scars and fresh scabs without the threat of being essentially kidnapped and imprisoned for having mental health problems.

No not "as long as...!" I think unconditionally I should be able to do what I want to and with my body (even if you don't think it's helpful or you think it's disturbing) without the threat of being kidnapped and imprisoned for having mental health problems.

It has long been shown that suicide rates go up when people are released from in-patient wards. There are quite a few theories on this, but mine is that stripping autonomy, restricting freedoms, forcably drugging, mandating ineffective therapy methods, disallowing "normal" human connection, restricting outside contact but encouraging family contact, denying addiction recovery care, and more are probably what's contributing to that rate increase.

I deserve to be safe and have access to all spaces and the fact I don't is atrocious and most ppl arn't talking about it and only notice inaccessibility once they themselves lose access to a thing/space.

Talking to another disabled person and their only complaint about their disability is "ppl saying I'm faking is so annoying." Sits a little wrong with me tbh

Happy disabled pride month. Within all the scary things happened in the disability community we need to recognize how far we got and all the people who have fought for us to have these rights. We need to keep up the work and keep fighting for us to keep our rights, and to help others keep theirs. There are so many more rights we still need to get. Medical care, access to all builds and towns

I love being disabled! it means I can't feel fully safe in any community that should feel safe for me. Disabled community? Nope. Internalized ableism and infighting over who is disabled enough for support, and homophobia. Queer community? Definitely not. Ablest, highly inaccessible and infighting over who is valid as queer, who is most oppressed ect.

As an undiagnosed autistic "girl" growing up I was never believed when I experienced EDS symptoms I was always told that I wanted attention or I just wanted to be disabled and just had a odd fascination with disabled people. I learned of the young age how to accommodate myself or how to push through it because apparently this was normal. It wasn't as hard with this at home as it was at school, I went to Waldorf School and Waldorf kind of just believes in guardian angels who will cure you. this is not a just Waldorf belief that kids are faking or just want to be different or are just moody and annoying. Kids needs arnt looked at to hold the same power or seen as having valid feelings as adults. And that becomes worse for the child if they're part of a marginalized community.

Stop comparing disabilities. Stop trying to one up disabilities. Stop speaking on disabilities you yourself are not even educated on, just because you are disabled does not give you the right or the knowledge to speak on behalf of somebody else’s disability that they LIVE with. We talk and talk about abled people’s ableism and their lack of knowledge and understanding and ignorance, but it is well within the own disability community as well and I don’t know why that’s not addressed with the same seriousness we give external ableism. You are not magically granted immunity from being called out just because you too, are disabled.

And this makes me feel very privileged to not have grown up disabled but also I did grow up disabled just without proper medical care.

Conservative beauty standards are back with a vengeance which means it's especially important to go out this summer with bellies out and bodies unshaved. Also be unapologetically disabled with mobility aids and wearable medical devices and stim toys and ear defenders and all that stuff. You need it. People need to see it. Everyone needs to be reminded that life is unquestioningly more enjoyable when you're not living inside an arbitrary set of rules created by people who are offended by all the wrong things.

Idk what person with chronic illness needs to hear this, but you can do things to make your responsibilities nicer for yourself. You can get an ice cream after a blood draw. You can sit down for tv time after an injection. You can pick out the bandaids that have cartoon characters on them instead of the plain ones. Being an adult doesn’t stop you from benefiting from encouragement. Go for whatever fits with your routine/abilities/budget and makes life a little better. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down etc etc
