Sylvain didn't fear much and he didn't fear many people, but if there was any one person he did fear, it was Seteth. That man was a very strict man and he was very protective of his sister. When it came to Flayn, he had to be sure where she was and who she was with. And Goddess forbid she start dating someone, especially someone like Sylvain. It was unfortunate for Sylvain, he truly and deeply loved Flayn. She was one of the most endearing, honest, and kind person he has ever met. Dating her, would be the end of him; he knew Seteth would kill him.
What's worse, he knew Flayn reciprocated his feelings. And as much as wanted to process these feelings, he was trying his best to avoid her brother. He was always told that he had great battle tactics, but it didn't feel like it when he had many sleepless night trying to figure out how to sneak Flayn out of the monastery and make dates behind her brother's back. He even tracked the amount of near heart attacks he had in one week. It was three. He couldn't believe he was trying this hard for someone, let alone a woman. Sylvain rubbed his face, silently reminding himself that he loved her.
"Sir?" The florist called out.
"Yes, sorry," Sylvain apologized, taking the bouquet of flowers from her. "Thank you."
"You're welcome!" The florist smiled. "I know she love these"
"Yes, I know. Her favorite flowers are forget-me-nots," he nodded before leaving.
As Sylvain walked away, he began to whistle to get his mind of things. Right now was not the time to think of Seteth, it was the time to think of Flayn. He knew she was waiting in the forest close to the monastery. There was this nice little nook there that was hard to get to, but it was nice and private. You really had to look for it if you wanted to find it. His frown soon turned into a smile as he remembered that Flayn went and got them a picnic. He continued down the cobble-stone from the shopping town when his tune started to fade and his eyes became wide. Sylvain hid the flowers he got for his girlfriend behind his back the moment he saw Seteth. His heart began to beat very rapidly and his chest began to tighten.
"Hello, Sylvain," Seteth growled, his eyes sharpening to Sylvain's hidden arm.
"Hello, tech," Sylvain said with his voice shaking and his mouth turned upside down. He had no idea why he was sounding like Claude. "Sorry, Seteth, sir. Mr. Seteth."
Seteth pinched the bridge of his nose before shaking his head. "Is everything alright? You are being unusual."
"Yes, sir," Sylvain said, rubbing his face with his free hand. "I'm fine. I'm sorry for being weird."
"This attitude wouldn't happen to deal with me reprimanding you for staying out after curfew the other night?" Seteth asked, glaring at him.
"No! It wouldn't, sir," Sylvain nervously laughed. He had almost forgotten about that. He was sneaking back into the monastery from a lake night date with Flayn and wasn't quiet enough when he snuck back in. He couldn't believe how clumsy and careless he was. "I''m just nervous for a date that I have."
"Another floozy, I see," Seteth said, his eyes becoming sharper as he grabbed Sylvain's arm to reveal what he had. "Is this why you are hiding this behind your back?"
Sylvain's face went pale.
"Forget-me-nots," Seteth sighed, letting go of his arm. "I wonder..."
"These are for the floozy," Sylvain spit out, hating that he called Flayn that.
"Then take me to her," Seteth demanded.
"That is not necessary. You wouldn't want to creep a woman out," Sylvain pleaded, trying to scuffle away.
Seteth grabbed the back of Sylvain's collar, stopping the redhead in his tracks.
Sylvain began to panic as he led Seteth to a random woman neither of them met. "Hello, Elle, here are some flowers."
The woman was shocked, but as soon as she took the flowers, Sylvain ran off as fast as he could, leaving both her and Seteth behind.
When Sylvain lost sight of the two of them, he began to catch his breath. That had to be the fourth near heart attack this week. Thankfully when he reached Flayn, she was very understanding of the situation. He never knew how he was able to get a woman as great as her. The next few moons weren't any better for his mind and soul. He had to sneak around, ditch a lot of training sessions with Seteth, avoid every counseling session, lie to all of his classmates where he was to be with her. Though, it was well worth it for Flayn. They spent a lot of days fishing with each other, grilling said fish, lunches in the mess hall, study dates, and so much more. It was all so enjoyable.
Sylvain smiled as he finally finished setting up the dinner table. He didn't have the best culinary chops, but with the few times he cooked with Dedue he could make something in a pinch. He had a smile on his face, feeling proud of what he had made. It was a couple of the Flayn's favorites, grilled herring and saghert and cream. His smile grew bigger as she walked into the candle lit room and when he saw the shock on her face.
"Sylvain," Flayn smiled. "You did all of this?"
"Yes, I hope it's to your liking," he proudly said, moving a chair out for her to sit in.
"How very gentlemanly of you," she teased as she sat down.
"I would be like this for you ever day," he sincerely said as he pushed her in before sitting down himself.
"Are you feeling well?" She asked, immediately taking a bit of her fish. "You seemed unwell all last week."
"I'm doing much better," he reassured her, taking a sip of his tea. "Your brother nearly caught on to me."
"Oh, did he find out about those flowers that you were supposed to give me, tipped him off," she teased some more.
"You're still on about that?" He gasped.
Flayn only laughed.
"Seteth is a very observant man, I was sure he was going to catch on as soon as he saw those flowers. There aren't many people who love forget-me-nots," he sighed, shaking his head. "The conversation we had after I came back to the monastery was not pleasant. He berated me for lying to him."
"I don't know how many times I have to tell him that his concern is unnecessary," Flayn sighed, looking longingly into her tea. "I don't know why he thinks I'm so frail and always needing protection."
Sylvain sighed, placing his hand on hers. "I wish he could calm down and leave you alone, but at the same time, I'm glad that he cares about you so much."
"Really? How do you deal with someone so overbearing?" Flayn asked, moving her gaze to his eyes.
"I have no idea, I don't deal with a lot of people being overbearing. I would ask Hilda, her brother seems to be the same," he smiled, squeezing her hand. "I guess I just wished I had a brother who cared. Miklan was a resentful man up until his death and cursed me when he died. Sometimes I think your brother acting the way his is, is the better alternative because at least he cares."
"That is true, but I wish he would ease up," she said, halfheartedly. "It would make us being together a lot easier."
"But you've been having a lot of fun sneaking around," he joked.
"Sylvain," she pouted.
"Sorry, sorry," he blinked. He took another sip of his drink, before giving her a genuine smile. "It would, but I don't think he would ever ease up on me."
"Yes, especially your history," she faintly smiled. She took a sip of her drink and took a few more bites of her fish and dessert.
"But I will take that heat, feel that burn if it means staying with you," Sylvain said, quickly eating all of his food.
"Even it meant for all of eternity?" Flayn asked with a scowl on her face.
"Yes, for the rest of our lives. You mean a lot to me and your worth feeling the blazing heat from Seteth," he said, reaching for her cheek.
Flayn smiled placing her hand on his.
"Now," he said, getting up from his chair. He held out his hand towards her. "Let's have a little dance."
Her smile grew wider as she placed her hand in his.
He place his free hand on the small of her back and swayed from side-to-side, swirling her around every so often. He felt his heart at ease for once. It felt nice just the two of them in room with only a few candles lighting it. He held her closer, slowly bending down to put his face close to hers. He could feel her hand move to his face to pull it closer.
"Who's in here!" Seteth called out, stopping the two.
"We better leave," Sylvain whispered, feeling his chest tighten.
"What of the dishes and mess?" Flayn asked, clutching onto his clothing.
"Leave it and I will come back to it," he said, rushing her off in the other direction of Seteth's voice.
"Hello?!" Seteth called out, only seeing a different door close. "Pesky children, not cleaning up after themselves."
Sylvain rushed Flayn back to her room, giving her a peck on her cheek, before leaving. He rushed back to the mess hall only to find his mess cleaned up and no Seteth around. He skedaddled back to his room, not getting any sleep for the rest of the night. Next time he sees Flayn, he should probably ask her if it's alright just to tell Seteth that they are dating. He couldn't take much more.
Hello SylFlayn shippers, I humbly bring you some food. I specifically bring food for Gaby in the art scuffle that we are participating in. I love Sylvain and putting him in situations where he gets heart attacks, so this is a perfect prompt for that. Hope you enjoy.
i’m sort of begging the general tumblr population who considers themselves against/above sports to think about why exactly that is. actually i think that there’s a lot that the Average Tumblr User would like about, say, baseball or hockey or basketball or football or volleyball or figure skating, etc etc etc. this goes for playing but doubly for watching. why do you preclude yourself from something you might enjoy. have you ever actually engaged with it or have you stereotyped yourself out of it. what would happen if you sat down to watch a game or competition of any given sport and enjoyed it. what if you found a bunch of other people that also enjoyed that sport. what if you picked a player or a team to follow. what if you let yourself get swept up in playoff season or the world championships. what if you allowed yourself to feel a little devastated when your favorite player loses the title or gets traded to another team. what if you experienced the full spectrum of human emotion and connection that sports could offer you. what then
I think I'm in the unpopular opinion that I believe that the best end for Maomao is to be Gyokuyou's lady-in-waiting again. I just like their relationship, and they truly do respect each other. On top of that, Maomao gets to do what she loves, gets to test for poisons, and Gyokuyou gets to have a trusted friend.
Had a bad depressive episode since yesterday afternoon, but some good highlights that have today better, saw art of Rhea from FE 3H as a rabbid, hearing one of my roommates belch out as she sang along to Chandlier by Sia as I was changing it when I got out of the shower, and accidentally scared my other roommate coming out of the bathroom from said shower.
