TADC Episode Seven Theories
okay, so, me and @jay--hawk were talking about the new episode, and we've got some Thoughts.
First up!
Theory One: Jax Is Dead (Or Close To It)
Look, we've all seen the car at this point. And while a lot of people are leaning towards Jax having killed someone, we think that this may actually be an accident that killed him. And please do keep in mind, we don't think everyone is dead. Just Jax.
Think about it for a moment: why does he panic so bad at the thought of leaving the circus? Sure, it could be to avoid consequences, but it could be because he knows that he's dead or severely injured.
Jax might not know what happened after the car crashed, that might be the last thing he can remember. And even if he does remember- He doesn't know what is waiting for him outside of the circus.
And that car crash, the way that he remembers it, he panics when he thinks of it. He panics the entire way up to what they think is the exit. Jax can't be sure what is outside the circus, he can't know what is waiting for him, because otherwise, he would have planned for how to deal with it.
And so, he needs to stay there, because at least here, he knows what is happening. He knows how to act.
He knows that he will exist, if they stay.
Theory Two: Caine Is Trying To Help
And while we know that he doesn't want them to abstract, we think that it might be more than that.
Caine's actions this episode, the escape the circus adventure, its all incredibly fucked up.
But, we think that this may be all that Caine can do. Maybe, the information from Abel is accurate, even if the escape was fake. Maybe, Caine is trying to give them information about what has happened, how they could escape in the future, but there is someone watching him, someone that means he can't outright help the circus crew.
After all, Caine is an AI. He is, as shown by comments from Abel, concerned about what will happen after the circus crew leaves, and worried about his own existence.
And his obsession with the office is sincere, he looks at the photos even when no one is there to notice, and he says "too bad they cut me off, right?"
Someone has access to the circus, and specifically to Caine, and if they knew that he was trying to help the circus crew, it would not end well.
And even if this threat wasn't present, Caine is an AI. He can't go against his programming, not in big ways, not in the ways that matter. And his programming is to keep the people in the circus occupied, happy. It is not to help them leave.
And, if Abel is Caine trying to help, if the symbolism of the names extends, then this explains the problems Abel seems to have with Kinger.
Kinger knows more about the circus then he lets on, and Abel seems concerned about him having access to the admin console.
We believe that this is due to the possibility of Kinger deleting or reprogramming Caine.
"When he uses it responsibly." Would be in reference to both Kinger's involvement in the creation of the circus, and the possibility of his reprogramming Caine, in this view.
Caine's information, presented through Abel, would be mostly accurate. Caine knows more about the circus than he says, he has to with how he's been here all this time and is so embedded in the game's code. He knows who made it, even if he may have been 'cut off' before he could figure out too much.
And Caine is trying to help, and he's trying to give them information, but he can't do much, and he just wants to help.
He just wants to help.
Theory Three: The Circus Was Meant To Teach Kids Coding
Admittedly, this one is a bit lighter than our previous theories.
This is mostly based on the fact that the first abstraction's name was Scratch, which is a name shared with a coding language designed to teach children basic principles of coding.
Additionally, the Digital Circus is obviously meant to be a childrens game, based on...well, everything about it.
And the idea being to teach children coding would explain some of the strangeness of how assets are handled, for example the pit under the world full of assets.
While this does happen in other games, as well, with the Scratch connection, we do think it would be interesting if this was due to how scratch, as a coding language, relies heavily on premade assets meant to be manipulated by children.
As a small note, we also think that Scratch may have been a child, taking this idea into account, which would explain how horrifying the first abstraction is meant to be.
Granted, this one has less basis than our other two, but it's still an interesting idea!
Oh we were sooooooo fucking wrong lol
