men just love to run their fucking mouth about what women do or do not want without even once considering consulting any actual women on the matter

When I used to play field hockey in highschool the refs had to check to make sure we weren't wearing shorts under our skirts, and if we were we weren't allowed to play on the feild.
I was goalie so I didn't have to, because of the armour, but it's also why I refused to play any other position, or any other sport.
They did it to netballers and basketballers too, which was even worse bc their whole sport involves jumping.
And people wonder why girls don't want to play sports....
And now of course, they want to scrap the whole thing. They were never just coming for trans women, they want all women out of sports.
enjoying the view ;)

Late for an appointment this morning because my beautiful son child stole a wrapped and bagged bologna sandwich containing roughly 300% his maximum safe sodium intake out of the lunch box in my backpack while I was on the shitter and refused to spit it out

If i had the money, I would start a business called Box of Rocks. And it would be all electrical appliances that are, as it says on the company logo, as dumb as a box of Rocks.
No wifi or bluetooth connections. No touch screens. No predictive behaviours. No account log in. No fancy bullshit nonsense.
A fridge that does nothing but keep your food cool. A washing machine that washes clothes, the fucking end. And actually on the washing machine note: they would all have optional two-tap ports, so you CAN use the machine to heat the water if you need to, but you dont HAVE to, if youre in a home that has a massive hot water tank or whatever. AND, it would have fast cycles. None of this two hour minimum bullshit. Fuck outta here with that nonsense. 20 minute half-sized fast loads, 45 minute full sized regular loads, and a two hour option for those of you who like things slow or wanna give your towels an extra good long wash or whatever.
Anyway moving on. Dumb clothes dryers that just dry things, at a manually set array of temperatures, not an auto-temp chosen by the machine based on the detected type of fabric or size of the load. Dumb toasters. But QUALITY. None of this "its just fifteen bucks but it will last five minutes" shit. Dumb TVs. With various different ports, while we're at it. You want a security camera, but want full control of who accesses the recordings? Done. Dumb elevators, that go up and down at the press of a button and have no complex bullshit that takes out the whole lift whenever it experiences an internet outage.
DUMB CARS. WITH NO TOUCH SCREENS OR TRACKING TECH OR OTHER BULLSHIT.
GIVE ME MY APPLIANCES AS DUMB AS A BOX OF ROCKS. I DONT WANT THEM MAKING DECISIONS FOR ME. I DON'T WANT THEM "HELPING" ME. I DONT WANT TWO THIRDS OF THE BULLSHIT THATS IN THEM THESE DAYS.
I tried to buy a washing machine recently. They were ALL SOME DEGREE OF FUCKING "SMART." And yeah you can simply opt to not set it up, which is what i ended up doing, but it still prompts me even now to "complete set up?" AND it pushed the overall price of washing machines up because even though I dont plan to USE any of their STUPID smart tech, it was still included in the model! So it costs more! Because its "smart"!
Well i dont WANT IT TO BE SMART. I WANT IT TO BE DUMB. I WANT MANUALLY CHOSEN SETTINGS. I WANT BUTTONS AND KNOBS. I WANT IT TO BE INERT WHEN NOT IN USE. I WANT IT STUPID BUT FUNCTIONAL. THIS CANNOT BE A NICHE MARKET. GIVE ME STUPID APPLIANCES.
There is still at least some time to do this! I know this exists in my town, it's where I got my appliances from, but I'll bet there's a place like this in at least the top 40 cities in the US, probably in most of the major cities of the world:
Stop buying new. Look for the appliance place that buys or picks up scrapped, junked, abandoned, or broken appliances and rebuilds them into working appliances, using parts from the other wrecks. That's where you find still-working (or, more accurately, working again) appliances from long before the Internet-of-Things era. They're also cheaper and it keeps them out of landfills.
For example, here in south St. Louis there's a place called Hunter Appliances. I needed affordable, small laundry machines for the laundry closet in my apartment -- not the stacked "apartment washer/dryer" units that only run on 15 amp circuits, I had a 25 amp dryer circuit and room for old-fashioned couple of decade old regular units. They cost me easily a third of what a new appliance would have cost me, fit into the space I had (because that space was designed with these older, smaller units in mind), and came with a 90 day warranty. And no internet connection.
I say "at least some time," though, because as far as I can tell this kind of kit-bashed appliance rebuilding is about to become a lost art, the places I know of can't find anybody who wants to learn. It's not a terribly lucrative field, after all. But between now and when the last of the old-fashioned appliance repair people retire, get your family some dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks appliances while you still can.
"I have never seen a cat that showed affection/love for it's owner" is the pet ownership version of "I don't believe in Female Orgasms they don't exist, after all, my wife has never had one"

there seems to be a fundamental disagreement between microwave oven manufacturers and the producers of microwave meals over whether the customer should know the wattage of their microwave or if such details should be abstracted away from them
the microwave rice demands 800 watts of power for 2 minutes, but all the microwave can offer me three settings: one low, one high, and one somewhere in the middle. I turn it to the one in the middle as I happen to know 800W is the average power of most microwaves. the light comes on and the bag of rice starts slowly turning, but rather than hearing the usual rumble of the microwave, I instead start hearing short snippets of conversation - words snatched from the ether. the lights flicker and a chill runs up my spine. the voices remind me of those "spirit boxes" ghost hunters use. I double check the setting on the microwave. "ah," I say, remembering that I had set it to medium,

Comparisons to 1930s Germany are actually entirely too flattering to Americans. Germany had just lost a war, been subjected to crushing reparations, and undergone economic collapse and hyper inflation, and even then, Hitler never won a majority of the vote. What the fuck is America's excuse?
As a heartless killing machine, I was a terrible failure.
