this is a must read for anyone and everyone

omg Iām doing research for one of projects for college, and apparently, girls learn better when theyāre in an all girls class, but boys learn even worse when theyāre in an all boys class, because all the negative things become even stronger of there are no girls to act as ābufferā
get rid of the boys and let girl learn in peace, i couldnāt care less about them
Itās not our job to be a ābufferā
Separate boys from girls then, they donāt have to be acting like mothers at age 12, if boys ruin the education of others boys, um, idk, fix their behavior maybe?
I work at uni. My program is very competitive. Like you need a 92% or more to get in. We get 10x the applications than we can accept. So. This means our program is 95% female. Simply because girls do better in highschool than boys. Its literally that simple. However. This is a HUGE deal in the administration! Because OMG all those poor boys with less than a 92% canāt get into our program and woe is me, those poor poor boys. Every year we meet to talk about ways toĀ ārectifyā thisĀ āproblemā. One year theyāre going to stop inviting me to these meetings. Because I always ask questions likeĀ āhow do we get boys into the program with lower GPAs without denying girls with higher GPAs? And how is giving boys preferential treatment not sexist?ā Keep going good ladies, Iām saving your seat!
This type of thing always happens when women are dominating something, protocols are changed to accommodate and benefit men, and if this strategy isnāt successful the field is devalued.
Keep the good work!
The amount of times I heard my grandfather talk about theĀ āfeminizationā of schools because he wanted to blame the system for boys under performing (or, more accurately: girls out performing the boys) instead of, ya know, boysā entitled attitudes and overall piss poor behavior when at school.
When women fail at something: there must be something wrong with women When women succeed at something: there must be something wrong with the system
male privilege and sexism are so fucking real, when theyāre not doing wellāBLAME WOMEN. it must be women. ffs
during my 4 years at college it was always boys who under-performed and boys who always affected the quality of the class in a negative way. they were undisciplined, kept having conversations among each other which interrupted the class bc the lecturer had to stop and tell them to be quiet at least 10-15 times. they have always made unnecessary comments about teacherās instructions, homework, and even got into discussions. all around wasted at least 30-45 minutes of a 90 minutes lecture and disturbed the entirety of the learning process. however, our classes without any male students were mostly calm and graceful, and not a fucking struggle.
This resonates with me deeply. As a high school teacher, I have issues with too many of the boys. Just the other day, I had a bunch of kids stay back during break for detention because they either didn't do their homework (and came up with ridiculous excuses), were misbehaving in class, or both, and I had to go to a meeting. I went and got my superior, who was going to look after them for me. The second he walked in the door, he commented - out loud to them - about how there was a correlation between the detentions given in that year level and the gender of those who attend them.
And! This is an every day thing. Of the times that I have to talk to students about behaviour/homework,Ā 99.99% of the time it is boys. I have had girls come up to me specifically asking me to change the seating plan so they are away from many of the boys so they don't keep trying to distract them. One girl even secretly asked to be seated away from her boyfriend, purely because he kept wanting to talk to her during class about mundane things rather than do work and she didn't have the heart to tell him to leave her alone during class time.
Like, I enjoy teaching both genders, but I do see an obvious correlation between effort and gender.
ParallelĀ Earth.

ā¦But why do you need an object to go to the bathroom? Does it unlock the magic bathroom door?
a hall pass is a thing you can show to school staff to prove youāre wandering the halls with your teacherās permission, not skipping class. once upon a time it was a piece of paper, but people kept losing those, so around the time i was in high school, teachers started taping the school-issued cardstock hall pass to things like blocks of wood, plastic flowers, and plush toys, to make them harder to lose.
apparently it wasnāt enough.
Also people would steal them so they could have a get out of jail free card if they got caught skipping class.
Itās a little bit easier to find a stolen giant pencil than it is to find a stolen hall pass
This is eaxctly why hall passes have gotten so extreme.
I feel like hall passes are just an American thing? Iāve never heard of them being used in Australia.Ā
nope, they are defs used in australia! they aren't as over the top as these ones but we still need to make sure all students are accountable

Iāve been seeing discussions on my dash about the use of the wordsĀ āpussyā and even the color of the pink hats used in the womenās march, and Iād like to submit a couple of ideas to you for consideration.
Let me preface by saying: I am not in favor of signage/words that prioritize one set of sexual organs over another because that gets into weird places of associating genitalia with gender, etc.
However, signs that say things likeĀ āPussy Grabs Backā - please consider that this is in context and direct opposition to a man who bragged about assaulting women with vaginas by sayingĀ āI grabĀ āem by the pussy.ā This is reflecting his language back in the form of protest, and in this case, I think is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
Also please consider that vaginas are very, very often targets and sites of violence, even when they belong to men. Vaginas are so derided, as a concept and as a body part, that most of the anti-trans-woman rhetoric Iāve heard from cis men in my life has centered around the fact that they would rather die before theyād give up their penis for a vagina. (Nevermind their complete lack of comprehension about the actual experience of being trans and how body parts do or donāt contribute to that.) Iām saying that this is their actual viewpoint: vaginas are terrible and anyone who would want to have one is weak and less-than. So signs that laud, praise, and glorify vaginas are still an act of rebellion. (Of course I am also saying please do not make the mistake of vagina=woman. Having a vagina is a completely separate issue from your actual gender.) But in this context, pro-vagina is still an act of rebellion against a patriarchy that views them as dirty and worthy of scorn and violence.
Also, as far as pink hats go: I would like you to consider that, completely separate from the reference toĀ āpink bitsā ā even taking into account cat ears and the nameĀ āpussy hatā ā pink is considered a feminine color and as such is subject to the same derision that a patriarchy places on women.
idk if youāve ever been to the American South, especially, but say youāre standing outside a Target or a Wal-Mart in Virginia or the Carolinas or Georgia or Alabama. Say itās pouring rain. Say itās hailing. And thereās a dude standing a couple of feet away from you without an umbrella, squinting under the brim of his sportsball team cap. Say you have an extra umbrella and you are a generous person and you go to offer it to this man. But say the umbrella is pink.
Let me tell you a thing: There is a roughly 80% chance that the man is going to look at the pink umbrella, snort, take a step sideways away from you, and say,Ā āNot that thing.ā He wonāt touch it. He probably wonāt even be polite about refusing it. In his mind, youāve just offended him by offering him something that is pink ā the color of femininity. Youāve just implied that heās not masculine. Youāve just implied that heās weak, orĀ āgayā, or whatever.
Iām not exaggerating. I have lived in the American South all my life. Iāve seen men stand in hailstorms rather than touch something pink. Iāve seen men go naked rather than wear something pink. Iāve heard them complain about having to TOUCH something pink.
So yeah, thereās a context to the color beyond justĀ āpink parts.ā The context is that anything the patriarchy PERCEIVES as feminine ā whether it actually is or not ā is a fair target for violence in their minds. And that is worth protesting.
But even with this context in mind, I want to put out there one more thought: Protect trans women. Protect intersex women. Protect women of color. Protect disabled women. And if any of these people feel uncomfortable or excluded because of the way that these items are often associated with cis white women, respect that, and donāt force them to interface with it.
Thank you.
Letās not forget that women legislators have been banned from speaking after saying the word vagina.
Or that women teachers are fired for saying the word vagina.
Or the fact that anti-abortion lawmakers believe people can swallow a camera and have it end up in their vagina because they donāt know how vaginas work.
Or that they believe ālegitimateā rape victims with vaginas have magical powers to shut down potential pregnancies before they occur.
Or a woman who called Senator Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania) and was scolded for using the word menstruation before they hung up on her.
No, not all women have a vagina and no, not all people with vaginas are women. A vagina doesnāt make you a woman, but this is still a womenās issue, just like parenting, the economy, violence against transwomen, and immigration are womenās issues. Women are reduced down to their vaginas, whether or not men have access to them, whether or not a woman has a vagina, what it looks like, what it smells like, how aesthetically pleasing it is to someone else, how many people have touched it, how youāre allowed to medicate it, how youāre allowed to procreate with it, how much they can charge you to access it.
For anyone who has a vagina, this is a push to reclaim power over it.Ā
And itās just one of a great many issues that women collectively face together.
Saw this in the notes on this post and wanted to give it some visibility, not least of which because it sources some of the bullshit ways vaginas, specifically, are targeted by this cishet white patriarchy trying to crush us all and one of the things internalized misogyny does is ignore or excuse any time the patriarchy does this.
(I also want to point out that WOC and indigenous women are statistically at higher risk for having their bodily autonomy attacked than white women, and weāre at a higher risk than is acceptable to begin with. idk I just wanted to acknowledge that.)
I honestly did not expect our national park service to be so fucking savage.
