Things the SNL Skit Could Have Joked About:

The coming out Scene having 20 people (Something the gay community actually laughed about) Clearly written by straight people.

Karen's Plot Armor (Like how are you still alive/moving???)

Ted being forgotten about / being useless

The "unproposal" scene and Hopper picking up the ring for Joyce since they used the same ring prop for both scenes

Some of these aren't as funny as others but I would have taken them over whatever the hell that was.

Meanwhile here's Milkvan cinematography:

Why are so many of their moments shrouded in darkness? Especially considering that Byler scenes are typically being drenched in light (save for tonally serious moments like the rain fight)

Then we get a lot of Milkvan's "romantic moments" in Season 4 being interrupted by a third party. Their reunion literally has an extra walk past them mid-kiss. They're surrounded by people. It feels like their relationship is a performance they're putting on for the public, rather than this being about a private moment between the two of them.

And then there's all the numerous shots of Will in the middle of Milkvan scenes. They want you to notice Will, to feel his presence, to feel his pain, more than they want you to feel any "love" between Mike and El.

Will is literally "between" them or "behind" Mike (because Mike constantly has Will in the back of his mind). No director would've shot Milkvan's reunion scene in Season 4, much less have their first "I love you," in such an unappealing way without a reason.

Compare these to Byler scenes where they're the only ones in frame, even in the van scene with Jonathan watching, we focus almost solely on Mike and Will, either directly, or through the rearview mirror. It's like they're always in their own little world together.

just want to remind you that vecna said “some minds do not belong in this world” then proceeded to show will all the times he felt worthless for being queer. then will found the strength for his powers from a film reel of the love of his life asking to be friends, and mostly him and the love of his life hanging out and having a wonderful time together. being each other’s world. then he still felt worthless. like he failed. the love of his life assured him that wasn’t true. hugged him. then again. vecna used will’s sexuality against him. made him feel like if he didn’t come out or come “clean” his friends and family would hate him. be disgusted by him. and so he felt forced to come out and he did. just to tell everybody that the love of his life was just a crush. it didn’t matter. he’s not like that. things don’t work out that way.
