btw… important PSA: cutting off the mold on the surface of food does nothing. you can only see the spores on the surface, but mold itself has spread and grown roots into the food. by the time you can actually *see* the spores, that piece of food is completely full of it. youre still eating mold.
many of which are poisonous and have been shown to cause cancer. youre not even supposed to sniff it, because that can get spores into your lungs. like if you look up the health and safety guidelines for mold they barely stop short of telling you to put on a hazmat suit.
like produce is okay as long as you cut around it at least an inch, but cooked foods? you gonna die. stop eating mold people
does that include bread
it’s been linked to before but this is a good solid source
http://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsis/topics/food-safety-education/get-answers/food-safety-fact-sheets/safe-food-handling/molds-on-food-are-they-dangerous_/ct_index
and there’s a lot of ‘whose doing this!?!??’ in comments
the answer is, unsurprisingly, poor people. poor people, and people who fear poverty, honestly
it’s horrible what that will do, how people will endanger themselves because of it, of fear of food scarcity
source for that: me, a lifetime of living under the poverty line and also being mentally ill
I’m on mobile and can’t caption, but the image is a text chart of what foods are safe to cut off the mold, and what must be discarded. The full, text version of the chart is in the usda link above.
Oh thank goodness. I’ve been cutting the mold off hard cheeses my whole life. This post had me worried because I grew up poor as shit and we could not just throw out food on a whim, so I’ve been carving around soft spots on apples, moldy spots on cheeses, and hard lunch meats my whole life.
He said y’all can shove it with your unhealthy fitness routines to make male heroes look unrealistically buff. Honestly? King 👑
There are honestly some abysmal takes in these notes. Y’all realize that men are often pressured into literally starving a dehydrating themselves to look demigod level buff right? There is no reason for anybody, male or female, to unhealthily push their bodies just to be better eye candy while playing make believe for strangers. He didn’t say he was binging on hot Cheetos and tater tots. He’s still maintaining a healthy diet, he’s just not working himself to death.
anyways rabbie is going around now blocking every1 who brings this up or reblogs this post so! lets help spread the good word

some food for thought
anyone can use any slur that they can reclaim, however
think about why you're using it. are you using it to empower yourself, or are you using it in an attempt to signal to others that you're "not like those other sensitive snowflakes"?
it's a very important distinction that can tell you a lot about your own internalised prejudice.
wait this is interesting
i am not sure because i think it is very funny for ppl to joke w slurs they reclaim and i do it which is basically what kalvin does, but at the same time i do not want a straight person to join in laughing at me calling myself / my mlm friends faggots yknow
like one time me and venny were on ponytown messing w ppl and his cis friend said tranny after we had said it and i was like 😳 nvm yall...
so its like not empowering 4 me personally, mostly just joking to take any seriousness away from the word, but def not to show im not a Snowflake like the other Libtards, cuz like hets dni LOL its a very strange line to walk because u always get ppl like well if u can say it why cant everyone!!!!!!! or, why is it empowering to call urself an insult????????
but yes kalvin garrah deffo does b like i say tranny haha i am not like those OTHER transes who dont want you to call them slurs 🙄
i'm glad you picked up on the fact that this was also an indirect at kalvin garrah lol
so
we have this app called toogoodtogo where restaurants/cafes/bakeries/hotels and so on sell their leftovers for really cheap to reduce foodwaste
i got all of this for €4 from starbucks

The America version is called FoodForAll
I love TooGoodToGo all of this sushi cost me £3.50 (the chinese food cost me £3.59)
YOOOOOOO, they’re formalizing this?!?!
I used to do community service at a community breakfast, we’d go to the local Safeway and get all their stale bread, the local bakery for their stale baked goods and whatnot.
They throw away so much food it’s ridiculous, I’m glad someone finally created a program like this!
The American app isn’t available everywhere but if you’re broke in NY or Boston, check it out!
The US app logo currently looks like this and was last updated 3 weeks ago (as of January 25th 2020)
TooGoodToGo is available in many European countries, including the UK, much of Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy and the Iberian peninsula.
In Canada we have flash food, I dont know if it’s just confined to loblaw stores but you can get food that stores have to throw out for dirt cheap
I know I reblogged this once already but I’m back to say there’s an Australian version!
YWaste has been around since 2017 apparently, so they’re quite well established if you’re Australian and in need of options
Hi! Senior geology student with a special interest in volcanoes here!
As people are freaking out in the notes, I want to clarify a few things about volcanoes, and in particular Yellowstone.
1) Yellowstone is not "overdue for an eruption". That concept is a misunderstanding of how geologists determine the annual likelihood of a volcanic eruption. Volcanoes don't follow a schedule. A volcano's per-year likelihood of eruption is based on an average amount of time between major eruptions in the past. If a volcanoes average time between eruptions is 725,000 years, there is a 1/725,000 chance of it erupting in any given year. It is NOT a prediction of future eruptions. A volcano could erupt twice in two years. It could erupt one year and then never again.
2) someone mentioned the volcano being "150 years overdue for an eruption". That is a NEGLIGIBLE amount of time on the geologic time scale. There's an average 725,000 years between the last few eruptions. 150 years is nothing.
3) If a Yellowstone eruption DID occur, it would not likely be a catastrophic one. As the magma chamber beneath Yellowstone is mostly solid, it isn't likely that there's even enough magma for an eruption. Yellowstone may not ever even HAVE another catastrophic eruption.
4) When people say that "scientists say Yellowstone could erupt next week" or anything along those lines it's deliberate misinterpretation to get you to read an article. Every single time the scientist is trying to explain why Yellowstone isn't overdue, and that a volcano could erupt today or 500,000 years from now, therefore fearmongering about it needs to stop.
5) yes, there were 111 recorded earthquakes in Yellowstone during march. There were also 62 in Washington State in the last week. Earthquakes are literally always happening, and the Yellowstone observatory has stated that this activity is normal. Even where you are right now there are earthquakes. You may not feel them yourself, but a seismograph does. Earthquakes and a geyser are not indicative of a Yellowstone supereruption.
6) Steamboat geyser went through periods of more frequent eruptions in the 60s and 80s as well. This is not new.
The Earth isn't stable and unchanging. Don't freak out every time Yellowstone Does A Thing. That's what Earth does.
Are there any further concerns?
Thank you so much for this. I'm in a really bad depressive period and this false news about Yellowstone has made it so much worse do I deeply appreciate you explaining

At first I though this was a joke
Don’t ignore this Tumblr
Yet they still do even when it’s right in their face.
This reminds me of how a friend of mine was abused by the mother of his child. She was mentally unstable and used to berate him constantly and would smack him in the head all the time. It really pissed me off. Then one night she threw hot coffee in his face and tried to stab him with a screwdriver. The cops hauled him off to jail because she made up a sob story that painted herself as the victim. Once he left her, he stayed with me and it was a nightmare. She stalked him and me. She would drive by my house obsessively at all hours of the day and night (her muffler made a weird sound so I know it was her). She started showing up at my job, showing up at the places I frequented around town, and filling up my voicemail with dead air. The cops were no help. One day she got bold enough to talk her way into my home by conning my elderly grandmother, whom I was taking care of, while I was out. She went in my room and went through my stuff (creepy), then found him napping on the couch and attacked him. My grandmother witnessed the whole thing. He grabbed her by the arms, forced her out the front door, and locked it. The cops were called again. They said they’d go and ‘talk’ to her.
The next day we were watching a movie and there was a knock at the door. The police had come to arrest him. She filed a complaint against him and shown off some bruises on her arms from the altercation that she swore were completely unprovoked. My grandmother saw the whole thing since she was in the living room too and testified on his behalf. He still ended up serving jail time. No one takes male domestic violence victims seriously. They only see males as perpetrators.
#standing up for male victims takes NOTHING away from female victims #this isn’t an either/or scenario #you can pursue justice for male victims and still be 100% feminist #safer world for EVERYONE
This is important. Just… everyone needs to see this.
Just as a fun fact,
If you don’t believe male victims exist, or deserve to be stood up for then you’re not a feminist. Sorry I don’t make the rules.

Abortion care needed
I humbly come to you asking for help. I am pregnant and I need an abortion. I have been trying to mentally figure everything out for the past 3 months and I am not financially able to get an abortion. I am currently a college student at Indiana University. Please before you judge me or my decision, the guy I was sleeping with, slipped off the condom without my consent. The cost is $1150 and goes higher the further along the pregnancy gets. I need your help. I have no health insurance or any other support. Thank you. I’ll be eternally grateful if I get the help❤️ VENMO: cayking

Some of the definitions of bisexuality used throughout the years! I use the first one personally.
I use “attraction regardless of gender” “can like anyone (simple way of saying it)” and “attraction to both sexes”. But no matter what I say, I will always stress that it isn’t exclusive (if the person says it is)
i use “attraction to all genders” because my sexuality is fluid but i can be attracted to any gender. 💗💜💙
bi history is so interesting and it makes me so sad knowing so many of us are uneducated on our own rich history and involvement in the lgbt and so I decided to pick some good things/important things that I think you should know!
๑ In 1969, a series of spontaneous and violent riots in response to the June 28th police raid of the Stonewall Inn took place—commonly known as the Stonewall riots. The patrons of the bar, bisexuals included, followed Stonewall leaders such as Sylvia Rivera, Marsha P. Johnson, and Miss Major to the streets in order to fight for LGBTQ rights.
๑ bisexual activist Stephen Donaldson (also known as Donny the Punk) founded the first university-sanctioned gay student group, the Student Homophile League, at Columbia University.
๑ In response to Stonewall, bisexual activist Brenda Howard organized the Christopher Street Liberation Day March a month after the riots.
๑ A year later, Howard coordinated another march to commemorate the year anniversary of the Stonewall riots, thus beginning the longstanding tradition of pride parades each year. Because of this, she is often known as the "Mother of Pride."
๑ Brenda went on to found the New York Area Bisexual Network to coordinate resources for regional bi+ individuals. NYABN is still active.
๑ The first bisexual political organization, BiPOL, was established in San Francisco in 1983.
๑ BiPOL sponsored the first Bisexual Rights Rally, which took place outside of the 1984 Democratic National Convention.
๑ BiPol advocate Dr. David Lourea successfully persuaded the San Francisco Department of Public Health to recognize bisexual men in their AIDS statistics,
๑ The AIDS epidemic was especially significant for bisexuals because they were often unfairly blamed for spreading AIDS to their partners.
๑ Newsweek's 1987 issue portrayed bisexual men as "the ultimate pariahs" of the AIDS epidemic. (this one isn't good, but I feel like people ignore bi men when it comes to compassion towards these types of issues. bi men deserve the same medical care.)
๑ As a result of BiPOL's nationwide lobbying efforts, bisexuals were successfully included on the platform of the 1993 March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation.
๑ The Bisexual Pride flag was designed by Michael Page and unveiled in 1998.
๑ The inaugural Celebrate Bisexual Day, now sometimes referred to as Bi Visibility Day, was created by Wendy Curry, Michael Page, and Gigi Raven Wilbur in 1999 and continues to be celebrated every September 23rd.
( here )
๑ Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson, two trans activists of color who were key actors in the Stonewall riots and following decades of activism, were also bi.
๑ While the groups of the 1970s were often predominantly male, in the 1980s bisexual women took the organizational lead.
๑ Many of these woman had been working in the Lesbian and Women’s Movements and the groups they formed often reflected their feminist politics.
๑ 1986 – BiPOL’s Autumn Courtney is elected co-chair of San Francisco’s Lesbian Gay Freedom Day Pride Parade Committee.
๑ This election marks the first time an openly bisexual person holds this or a comparable position in the US.
๑ 1989 – BiPAC, the New York-based Bisexual Political/Public Action Committee which forms in 1989, challenges biphobia in the lesbian and gay community with a national letter writing campaign in 1990.
( here )
๑ 1989 – Openly bisexual veteran Cliff Arnesen testifies before the US Congress on behalf of gay, lesbian and bisexual veteran’s issues.
๑ Arnesen is the first veteran to testify about gay, lesbian and bisexual issues and the first openly non-heterosexual veteran to testify on Capitol Hill about veteran’s issues in general.
๑ The campaign successfully persuades an educational institution to remove an offensive workshop it offers called “Bisexual Men: Fact or Fiction?”
basically, two black bisexual trans women and bi activist's are why we have the lgbt and pride parade celebration today. and I think that needs to be more common knowledge.
