IM CRYING

So I have another wholesome interaction from today.

The race was still ongoing, and my family was eager to leave for the beach, so they went without me. They have a guy who helps out by driving a golf cart to take people on and off the beach, but since I was planning on going later, I was just going to walk the couple of blocks.

Well, the driver noticed they were one short from yesterday (me) and my dad explained I was still watching the F1 race, and the driver goes, “Oh, is she super into it?” My dad goes, “Oh yeah.” They continue their trip, and as he’s dropping everyone off, the driver says, “Let me know when she’s ready. I’ll come pick her up after the race is over.”

So my dad tells me, and about an hour later the race is over, I’ve watched the podium ceremony, and the driver comes to get me. He pulls up, looks at me, and goes, “Oh, the Formula 1 shirt and hat… you really are into it.”

We ended up talking the whole ride about the race. Asked me who won and what had happened. He told me he’s more of a NASCAR person, but he thought it was really cool that I was so into Formula 1. There was also a moment where he looked at me and goes “you can handle speed right” as he gunned it. It was pretty funny.

It was such a wholesome interaction, and definitely one of the positives of today and I thought I’d share!

For the record my nails did last through the race but immediately came off at the beach after. But bright side they came off in tact so I got to keep them 😅

favorite part of this moment is Lando staying on his knees with his eyes following Oscar the whole way so intently that he almost doesn’t realize Oscar is reaching out to him - they trust each other so much but never EVER demand or expect anything in these moments and I think that’s such a specific landoscar pairing distinction. that even tho they continue to prove their exceptional loyalty and appreciation for each other - and ability to see beyond the immediate emotions - but they will always leave each other room to react how they want. because it means so much that the one who is winning doesn’t start the reconciliation with the one who is suffering, so however that person chooses to react is on their terms. it’s only if they want to - and they both always want to. and !! it’s nothing to do with the rest of the team. they lock eyes and do their weird nonverbal communication and these handshakes and smiles are for each other alone. if it were for the public or the media or even Andrea, it would be bigger and louder displays. but it’s not for them. (and it’s why Lando laughed at the idea of them needing a big formal “sit down” about AD25 - they’d even said how they discussed what one of them would be feeling compared to the other, and early into the season. they didn’t have anything unsaid because they don’t ever leave the other hanging or doubting)

Unfortunately I’m way too broke to attend the race in person, so I design a new set each week to cheer them on from afar. Maybe one day though—I would absolutely love to show them my nails in person! 🧡

like, I am excited and happy and so proud of Lando for finally being on the top stop with the 1 on his back.

but I am also devastated and raging and crying internally because of the way Oscar's race went- and ended.
