“Amy Poehler was new to SNL and we were all crowded into the seventeenth-floor writers’ room, waiting for the Wednesday night read-through to start. […] Amy was in the middle of some such nonsense with Seth Meyers across the table, and she did something vulgar as a joke. I can’t remember what it was exactly, except it was dirty and oud and “unladylike”, Jimmy Fallon […] turned to her and in a faux-squeamish voice said, “Stop that! It’s not cute! I don’t like it.” Amy dropped what she was doing, went black in the eyes for a second, and wheeled around on him. “I don’t fucking care if you like it.” Jimmy was visibly startled. Amy went right back to enjoying her ridiculous bit. With that exchange, a cosmic shift took place. Amy made it clear that she wasn’t there to be cute. She wasn’t there to play wives and girlfriends in the boys’ scenes. She was there to do what she wanted to do and she did not fucking care if you like it.”

This one never gets old.
so i know that fyre festival is now mostly seen as funny meme of rich kids being scammed but please don’t forget that billy mcfarland hired 200+ Bahamian locals to work grueling hours day and night on the island for weeks with completely unrealistic expectations for this festival and in the end abandoned the island and ran home without paying any of them
so in all seriousness, billy mcfarland is a monster needs to like…….go to jail
Fortunately, he did go to jail.

The very first things Frankenstein’s Creature does in life when he’s just a dumb giant baby are that he goes to look for his papà who ran away after taking one glance at him and smile when he finds him lying in his bed behind curtains. He smiles. That’s the first thing he does - “he muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his cheeks.” He found his Dad hiding behind some curtain and is happy about it.
And yeah this might seem dumb but it means the world to me that Mary Shelley didn’t write the Creature as doomed to be miserable and melancholy like he is for most of the novel or that he immediately goes on a rampage like many modern takes on the character suggest. He smiled. He found his Dad playing hide and seek and wanted to smile at him and gurgle a few words and Victor ran away.
Eierpunsch is a hot sweetened alcoholic drink from Germany that is commonly found at Christmas markets - but it’s easy to make at home. As usual, there are many variations. Here’s one recipe:
1 bottle of white wine (750 ml) ~ 4 eggs (or 8 yolks) ~ 5 tablespoons of sugar - 1 packet of vanilla sugar (or 2 tsp sugar + 1 tsp vanilla extract) ~ Pinch of cinnamon ~ 4 cloves ~ lemon juice ~ 250 ml of strong black tea ~ whipped cream ~ 50 ml dark rum (optional)
Prepare tea as usual; allow to cool. Whisk sugar into the eggs (or yolks) and add a little cold white wine; beat vigorously. Add vanilla sugar to the mix. Pour in the remaining white wine, cinnamon, cloves, lemon juice, and cooled tea. Optionally, add 50 ml of dark rum. Transfer mix to a pan and gently heat, but don’t let it heat too quickly, remove before it comes to the boil. The mix should be foaming. Remove cloves. Serve hot and foamy in a mug with whipped cream on top and a biscuit. Prost! :)
“Witch” is and will continue to be a gender neutral term.
Keep reblogging this- it’s helping gender nonconforming and male witches feel accepted in the community.
Witch is for girls…
Nope! Witch is gender neutral.
Uhm were you dropped a birth? It’s for girls.
Nope! Witch is a gender neutral term. Has been more most of the English language’s history too.
The Modern English “Witch” of course comes from the Middle English “Wicche.” The Middle English “Wicche” was, of course, a gender neutral version of the Old Englsh “Wicce” and “Wicca” – which were gendered. “Wicce” being the feminine form, and “Wicca” being the masculine.
You may recognize the masculine Old English word as it lends itself (albeit with a different pronunciation) to the most common form of modern day Witchcraft – the religion Wicca.
Outside of the Modern Witchcraft Movement, if we poke into history you’ll find that during the European Witch Trials men were tried as – you guessed it – Witches. While those trials did disproportionately women, that was mostly because of, well, western culture just hating women in general. Many men were also accused though, and when they were, they were called Witches.
So, y’know, it’s gender neutral.
(If you want to know how it ended up having pop culture gendered connotations in modern history, you can blame some shitty 19th century fiction writers)
Anyone with a brain knows Witch is for girls. Wizard or warlock is for men
Nope!
A practitioner of Witchcraft is a Witch regardless of gender.
Wizard actually originally meant philosopher, has a completely different etymology, and didn’t come to refer to a “magic user” until the 1550s – long after the word Witch was in common usage. It also is found primarily in fiction.
Warlock is a word meaning “oath breaker” (specifically breaking an oath to Jesus Christ) and didn’t start getting used for “Male Witches” until 19th century fiction. That fiction eventually entered the pop cultural consciousness – but those practicing Witchcraft have almost never actually used that word (save for a few who have decided to “reclaim” what they consider a slur).
Witch is gender neutral.
Giles Corey didn’t get crushed to death for this kind of discourse.

How To Use Spell Triggers For Delayed Action Magic
This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my Disclaimer for more info.
I don’t know about you but between going to classes, blogging, writing books, and keeping up with my social circle my life is BUSY. While I’m absolutely in love with the direction my life is heading right now, it does pose a bit of a problem on occasion: I don’t have a lot of time for actually doing magic! This can cause some problems when I run up against a situation where I really need a spell or ritual so I’ve started using a method of delaying my spells. This spell delay lets me stockpile inactive spells so that I can call on the magic at a moment’s notice.
Now there are several ways to do this, spell powders and enchanted objects can both be used this way. I won’t be touching on either of those methods today (although if you’re interested in spell powders, Bree NicGarran’s new book Pestlework is the place to go!). No, today I want to talk about the use of delay triggers in your spellwork.
What is a spell trigger?
A spell trigger is a placeholder created within your spell that, instead of activating the spell immediately, holds all of the components and energy of your work in place until the final piece of the spell is initiated. This trigger can be anything you like, it can be a word, a hand gesture, any quick and easily performed action can be used as a trigger in a delayed action spell.
This trigger system allows you to have complex spellwork at hand and ready to use at a moment’s notice. You can throw up wards, perform a curse breaking, use healing spells or call on an anti-anxiety spell with nothing more than a word. This form of spell casting can also be useful for spells that are intended to be activated at a particular time or place. Have a spell that needs to be performed while you have eyes on the target? Cast the spell in private, insert your trigger and activate the trigger when the opportunity arises. The uses for this technique are endless!
How to Create a Spell Trigger
1.) Decide on your trigger
The first step in creating a spell trigger is going to be choosing the trigger itself. You should pick something fairly quick and easy to initiate such as a word, a phrase, a hand gesture, a series of notes hummed or whistled. This trigger action that you choose should also probably be subtle, having to stomp your feet and roar at the heavens might seem like a cool way to activate a spell but it’s probably going to attract quite a bit of attention and cause questions to be raised. Keep things simple, discrete and easy for you to remember (you can’t activate the spell if you forget the trigger!).
2.) Perform your spell
Next, you’ll simply perform your spell as usual, follow all of the steps outlined in your spell right up to the release or activation point in the spell. This is key, you’ll be replacing the release of the spell in order to delay it so be sure to mark where in your spell this release or activation occurs.
3.) Insert your spell trigger
Inserting a spell trigger can be done in a number of ways. You can verbally set the intention of the trigger (i.e. “I bind this spell, may all its power and purpose be held until such a time as it is released by my signal”) after which you perform the trigger action (saying the word, performing the gesture, etc) in order to connect the now bound spell and the trigger. You could simply perform the gesture or speak the phrase while holding the intention that the spell will be bound for later release. You could speak the intention while holding the trigger word or gesture in your mind without performing it. Any of these methods work, the important consideration is that you choose the method that feels most natural to you. Most of us are not used to stopping the flow of energy short, wrapping it up and saving it for later. Typically the idea is to release or activate the magic at the time of its casting so this process can feel stilted or uncomfortable the first few times. Experiment with which method you prefer to help mitigate any discomfort you might have with such a stark change in method.
4.) Activate the spell trigger and release the bound magic
At the appropriate time, either when needed spontaneously or at the predetermined moment, activate the spell by performing the trigger action with intention. The intention is important. Accidentally stating your trigger word or phrase in conversation won’t release the spell and likewise, you likely won’t release the spell if you offhandedly perform the trigger without reaching for the magic connected to it.
Now, this method can require a lot of personal tweaking, both to become comfortable with the process and find a way to make it work for you, and to possibly adjust spells to have a clear activation or release point where you can insert the trigger. Many spells are designed in such a way that the energy and intent of the spell is continuously released throughout the casting, and those spells can be particularly tricky to insert a trigger into. You may also find that casting circles is helpful in this kind of spell crafting. A circle can serve to contain the energy and intention you’re building so that it can be bound instead of allowing it out into the world during the casting.
Don’t be too concerned if the first few times you try this it falls flat, with the exception of very new witches this can be a serious detour from your usual spell crafting methods and require a bit of retraining to perfect.
As I mentioned before, there are also simpler ways of achieving this delay. If you’re finding this method particularly challenging or daunting it might be helpful to start with a slightly less complex method. Spell powders are a fantastic way to get your feet wet in the world of delayed activation spell work.
Pestlework: A Book of Magical Powders & Oils by Bree NicGarran is an excellent introduction to the world of spell powders and their many uses. With Over 200 original recipes, tons of helpful tips, safety information and an easy to understand format this book is the best place to start if you’re looking to get your feet wet with this kind of magic.

GOOD MORNING, AND BLESSED BE….
Welcome everyone to the Circle of Love and Light, it’s been a hectic time here and awhile since I’ve opened our circle, so please join me here today within the circle. Stay for awhile and feel the peace and love of the Divine One fill your heart, as we begin this day…
With all the scattered energy around from the Equinox, and the Full Moon, we’ve all been feeling a bit out of sorts, so today, while within the circle, we are going to release all if the negative energy, take in some deep cleansing breaths, and then release them, stating I let go of all negativity and bring in healing energy and positive light, do this several times, feel yourself relax, then say I feel only positive energy filling me…once you feel relaxed and positive and grounded, you will be better ready to continue your day…
Today, my Brother’s and Sister’s I have a special request, please if you would remember a friend of mine in you daily prayers, she is suffering a great trauma, upon returning home from her shift at work she walked in on her elderly father committing suicide, he did this in front of her, and died, she is traumatized, and heartbroken, he was suffering from Dementia, and she had him home with her, as he wasn’t ready for placement…please keep her in your thoughts and send love and strength to my friend Sarah, she is going to need this in the coming weeks..
Death, of a loved one is never easy, but….Suicide, is far more shocking and far more difficult for those left behind to cope with, there are always unanswered questions, and guilt on the part of friends and family, feeling they should of done more, when really, there was nothing else one could do, I speak from experience.
If anyone here is having those thoughts, STOP, CALL SOMEONE, GET HELP….,this is a permanent answer to a temporary situation, that will pass…know you are loved, and people will suffer and miss you…
Ok my darlings, have a blessed day….In love and light….

Amazing!
An angel
It’s beautiful how people with autism are typically so much more spatially advanced…my little cousin has memorized all the freeway systems in California and he’s like 9
From memory…. Let that sink in…I barely remember myself
WHAT omfg that’s so amazing!
Omg I watched this documentary years ago and I was just completely floored! This guy is beyond amazing! What no one mentioned is that this drawing is unbelievably accurate and proportionally to scale. He has the exact number of windows, floors, doors, etc on each building. And someone measured it and everything was to scale and geographically correct. On all of his drawings he has the exact number right even from just looking at a building for two minutes.
What’s even more amazing is that he used to be almost completely nonverbal and through his art he’s been able to become completely independent and self-sufficient and is now a successful artist who owns his own gallery where he sells his drawings and people come from all over to buy his art. He is fully verbal and communicative and most people who meet him don’t even realize that he has autism.
This dude is literally the coolest most incredible guy ever!
Oh and I forgot to add that he did this drawing in under five days (it might have even been three days but I can’t remember)!
Here are a few of his drawings
Like I said, this dude is fucking amazing.
@paintedcowboy
I had seen the top part of this post, but not the rest of his work.
Thank you.

just so you know
the US minimum wage that we all agree is too low to live on ($15,080/yr) is far more than many legally disabled people receive in benefits
the maximum SSI for a single person is $8,796/yr if a disabled person marries another, each drops to a max of $6,600/yr
while you’re fighting for 15 maybe look at that too
Not to mention we aren’t allowed to have more than $2,000 saved at a time. EVER. Like EVER or we lose all benefits completely. In the bank, in cash, it doesn’t matter. The government literally keeps us poor, while also making us pay immense amounts of money for health care that we require to even survive or function (let alone work enough to be able to get off of benefits, not to mention that there are a ton of people who will never be able to do that anyways). It’s a very, very broken system and not one that was ever meant to actually help anyone.
Plus, “marriage equality” is still a huge problem for disabled people (as you can see), which is something almost everyone is ignorant to/doesn’t care about.
DO NOT LEAVE DISABLED PEOPLE OUT OF YOUR ACTIVISM.
Btw that’s $733 a MONTH they want us to use for rent, food, and everything else. I asked once why it’s so low- how that’s even fair. She responded that they only factor in how much it would cost for rent and for food (with food stamps). That’s it. That’s all the government thinks we need to live. Rent and food.
And in case you weren’t aware, the disabled cost of living is much higher than the fully abled cost of living.
Mobility aids are expensive. Medications and supplements are expensive. Special diets to accommodate illnesses are expensive. Avoiding a long list of allergies is expensive. Wheelchair accessible home and car modifications are expensive. Hiring someone to do all your cleaning and laundry because you can’t is expensive.
And yet they still give us so little money that abled people couldn’t possibly live on it.
Also, disabled people often are less able to cook cheaper healthier meals, which almost always take more energy, time, and physical effort (not to mention being able to go grocery shopping) than, say, ordering a pizza, or even just throwing a premade pizza in the oven.
A necromancer falls in love with a healer. Describe their lives together.
Their house is odd, people say. That it’s both warm and cold all at once. People whisper about the garden out back, where some of the plants are black. Sometimes they whisper about the inside, about the table that holds both a mortar and pestle, and a complete set of bones. One of their cats is dead, they say. People fear a lot of things about their house, but nearly all of them have been inside.
They have four shelves in their house, for their books and jars and things they need for spells.
One of these shelves is stuffed full of books. The books are thick, fat, heavy. If the wood had a voice, it would speak in a groan. Half of them are soft, brown leather, with gold traced in plantlike designs on the spine. Half of them are black, heavy and cracked, with bookmark ribbons the color of blood and pentagrams on the covers. There are plants tucked into the corners. Some trail green fingers across the ledges. Some reach with thorns.
Another of the shelves is full of jars and bottles. Some of these jars are filled with potions that glow a dim yellow, or swirl a cheerful green. Some of the jars are filled with blood or crushed bits of bone. Some of the smaller bottles are full of dried clippings of rare plants. Some of the bottles hold things that move. But each jar has a neat little label, with the same gentle writing.
The third shelf is by a window, and it holds plants of various sizes. Most of them are small and green, meticulously watered and trimmed. But there are a few, scattered amongst the green, that have thorns longer than thorns should be, or leaves a bit too dark, too shiny.
The last shelf is full of bones. Cat bones. Dog bones. Bird bones. A skull. Fish bones. Wishbones. Snake’s fangs. Sometimes the bones move. Sometimes they don’t.
They have two tables. One holds a mortar and pestle, a small cauldron, bandages, some crystals. One of them has bones perched on the corners and a pentagram etched in the middle.
Dried herbs hang from the ceiling, and there is a box of litter on the floor.
They have two hearths; one for cooking, one for magic.
The walls are a deep green, the floor a wooden brown. The windows are large and lined with plants. The rooms are lit with floating crystals.
Everyone fears their house, but nearly everyone has gone inside. What is it, the healer asks, and her eyes are kind. What do you need?
A pain reliever. A bone set. An illness cured. A child delivered.
What do you need, she asks, but sometimes the answer is nothing. There isn’t anything to heal. So the healer nods, steps aside, and gestures to her wife, the necromancer.
And the necromancer looks at you, with her dark eyes and dark robes stitched with blood-red runes, and for a moment you are afraid. But then her eyes clear, and she smiles, and she asks. What do you need?
Thank you for doing this prompt @themauvesoul!

The Addams family was, in fact, both magical and supernatural for its depiction of a healthy, loving, supportive, and fun married m/f couple.
This is now officially an Addams family appreciation post
In order to depict such purity and love in a m/f relationship, one must first set the foundation that these people are odd and not the norm. (per media standards)
They cared about their children, their children’s interests, and wanted the kids to always be true to themselves. How peculiar!
Gomez and Morticia never showed negative jealousy towards each other’s past love interests. Even going to far as complimenting them for being special to their true love. How bizarre!
They could forgive almost any character flaw in a friend or relative. The only thing that could not be forgiven was betrayals and pastels. Weird amirite?
Morticia is a woman’s woman. She allies herself with other women instead of competing with them. She even seeks to understand women different from herself and her beliefs. Strange.
Gomez wants Morticia to have whatever Morticia wants. He doesn’t give her permission, he actively supports her and motivates her. Fa-reaky.
I seem to recall once reading a review that said that Gomez and Morticia were the only couple on television in the 1960s whom you could actually imagine producing children.
Millenials are killing divorce.
