I am always so torn between if I think Denmark or Norway is Ladonia's favorite uncle😔
because, yes, while Denmark is closer to Ladonia geographically (Skåne) I do like the idea of Norway being Ladonia's favorite, and Den being Sealand’s🤲🏻but at the same time I feel like it could work opposite??idk 😭
Okay, so I have been debating this for a good long while and there's a reason I have Ladonia favour Norway while Sealand favours Denmark.
I headcanon Ladonia being exactly like both Norway and Sweden in the sense that he's very sensitive, he has absolutely zero social skills and he can't communicate how he's feeling at all.
He's lower energy than Sealand, his hobbies are a lot calmer and he's overall the more tidy sibling
He loves Denmark of course. And Iceland and Finland, but they just don't understand him like Norway and Sweden do. They know what he's going through because they can recognise the tiny cues he gives when he's upset.
Yes, Iceland is not like them. Iceland does act similarly in some ways, but it's not inate. It's for completely other reasons. For Sweden, Norway and Ladonia, that's just their nature, so even though Iceland is very empathetic towards them, he just doesn't understand as well as they do and that can frustrate Ladonia sometimes.
Sealand also has his reasons for primarily enjoying Denmark's company over Norway's.
Apart from the fact that Denmark generally matches Sealand's higher energy play style, Denmark has something Norway doesn't and that's an inferiority complex.
Ladonia is not the only one who struggles. Sealand feels that people see Ladonia in a much higher light than him because Ladonia is so tidy, quiet and typically easy to deal with while Sealand acts a bit more his age.
As such, Sealand tends to gravitate towards people who have similar struggles like Denmark and Iceland. Denmark always feels like he's not good enough or that he should be doing more and Iceland is Inferiority Complex: The person.
Granted Iceland and Sealand's dynamic has evolved much more than Denmark and Sealand's but that's a story for another time.
Sealand initially got closer to Denmark because he could tell Norway was closer with Ladonia and he felt like he just had to be someone's favourite for once.
Sweden does not favour Ladonia over Sealand. He just spends more time with Ladonia because Sealand is just more independent, but Sealand perceives that little bit of distance as Sweden just being more indifferent towards him.
Sealand of course loves Norway dearly. Norway takes him out to find cool bugs and he's even taken him fishing plenty of times.
Ladonia also of course adores Denmark. He loves hearing any and all of Denmark's stories and he loves talking to Denmark about all of his interests.
I don't think I need to say this but of course Norway and Denmark love both Sealand and Ladonia equally. Different people just click differently. Denmark is mature enough to know that when Ladonia opts to sit with Norway than to play with him, it's not personal. Norway is mature enough to know that Sealand preferring to play with Denmark rather than sit with him is not personal.
