Smithsonian found out about that place down the way where you can get a goat's horn full of nutritious bison fat and it only cost a dollar
What a "dollar?" Blurg only trade in material or food
in societies, there are too many things for that kind of trading to work effectively, so we agree to give an otherwise less important object a value and exchange everything against it, like this: wheel of cheese < - > 4 dollars
4 dollars < - > bag of beans
and now i have a bag of beans even though the bean man didn't want my cheese, because i used currency
the great thing about currency is that since the value is made-up, we can trade it for things that are valuable but not objects, like:
1 new design for a machine < - > 50 dollars
10 dollars < - > a haircut
even though the barber couldn't care less what i'm drawing i still get a haircut and have currency left over to spend on other things
