Note about this post! These aren’t all the spring flowers, just the ones I have more knowledge about and personal experience with. This list is mostly based on my own interpretation and how I’ve come to associate certain flowers with specific deities throughout my journey as a pagan witch. I’m aware there are many other deities connected to flowers, but these are the ones that came to mind while I was taking notes. I also want to mention that color is probably one of the most important aspects when it comes to associating flowers with deities. For example, Lady Athena is connected with all white flowers, Lady Aphrodite with pink ones, and Dionysus with any purple flower. Elements also play a role, flowers carry elemental energy that can deepen their symbolism or connection to a deity. There are goddesses from different religions who are patrons of flowers and vegetation, like Flora, Chloris, and others, and they’re basically associated with all flowers, so I didn’t include them here since it felt kind of obvious. Whether a flower is traditionally associated with a deity or not, I just want to say, flowers make beautiful offerings, and your deities will absolutely appreciate any plant you choose to give them :D
One thing I endlessly admire Aphrodite for is that her love can both heal and destroy. She's the queen of blessed love and cursed love. She can use love to save and she can use love to kill. Love can be a comfort, or a weapon, the best thing or the worst thing to happen.🌹
the gods understand your disabilities, mental health, and neurodiversities.
they understand if your physical disabilities, mental or physical, prevent you from being able to go outside.
they understand you even when you cannot articulate what you mean during prayer or cannot find the words to express gratitude and love.
they understand if you can't spend much time or stand still at their altars.
they understand if executive dysfunction keeps you from making offerings or doing a lot of active practice.
they understand if you have to take breaks and hiatuses from practicing to focus on yourself and your mental or physical health.
they understand if you lose focus during meditation/trance work or cannot do it to begin with.
they understand you and are with you when you cannot get out of bed for mental or physical reasons.
they understand you and are with you during times when you cannot care for yourself or love yourself.
the gods will always understand, love, and accept us for who we are. we are all valid, and we are seen and heard by the gods, even when it feels as if we are alone. 💙

what is the first thing a baby/beginner witch should do after researching? should I create my first protection spell?
The real answer is: whatever you want
The fun answer is: fuck around and find out
My more responsible answer is: Create or try a simple/easy spell. Protection is all well and good but sometimes beginners over sterilize their spiritual space by doing too much protection right off the bat.
Think about it this way, what are you protecting yourself from??
If it’s just “magic” or “spirits” then you’re kinda shooting yourself in the foot.
If you have a specific thing in mind you want to protect yourself from them I’d go for a protection spell.
Other than that my first spell that worked when starting out was one to make friends! :> Maybe that can help give some ideas.
Have fun with it though!! Don’t stress too much, you’ve got this 💕
friendly reminder that you don’t need to spend a ton of money on your altar, and it doesnt need to be a picture-perfect aesthetic.
my altar is almost entirely thrifted, handmade, or gifted. it’s not the most lavish or expensive space, but it suits my needs and honors my goddess.
never feel like you don’t have the right “stuff” for magick- you are more than enough 💗🦢
My guys in mythology and deity tags, you need to start recognizing AI generated images, I’m serious.
Idk if it helps but this is a nice space so:
AI art tends to look "perfect", hyper-realistic. Hyper-realism is something you need to have a lot of experience to draw, so check if the OP has any other art. If they're an actual artist, they will.
Fingers, bodies, body parts. AI can't replicate human bodies properly, it will always look unnatural. Six fingers and eyes in weird places are a telltale sign. Also, inability to paint closed eyes.
Lack of fine detail/blurring of fine detail not seen in real art.
If it's a painting of a Deity, they will lack any of their traditional symbols and just look like a random model instead. AI can't understand cultural codes we put into painting the Divine.
I am so annoyed with AI art being spread and sometimes sold in religious circles because it's a place of respite and solace - and humanity.
And if you want to support mythology artists, I reblog plenty of them. You can also always ask for my absolute favorites.
Just a quick reminder for those who don’t already know. Mari Silva (the “author” whose prolific collection of magic books you’ll find on Amazon) is not a person, author, or occultist. Rather, they do not exist at all.
The books are either content-farmed, or, at this point, likely LLM-generated. If that is your source for magical information, you’re likely to find disappointment. No actual occult author is publishing a book every four days.
On that note, I've heard that some newbies won't read or buy books more than a few years old (to say nothing of decades old) because people say they're "problematic." This is a mistake. As the above shows, newer doesn't necessarily meant better. Yes, there is sometimes stuff in older material that isn't in line with today's standards, but that does not render all of the information useless or inaccurate. Take what you can use, abandon the rest. Don't be afraid to substitute materials or methods that are more in line with your values. Judge for yourself whether something is worth considering. It's up to you, in the end, how the knowledge you've obtained is used, and no one can force you to do magic that goes against your personal ethics. Knowing about something isn't the same as doing it. Also, if you buy used books, the author(s) do not receive any royalties from your purchase, if that's a concern. And if an author has died, you aren't taking anything away from them by sailing the high seas. I don't recommend doing that for books by occult authors who are still living, however -- for one thing, they need money to live, too, and for another, there is the possibility that an author has done magic to ensure that those who pirate their books get smacked. I can think of at least one author who has done this, and no, I won't name names because I don't need that kind of drama. Just keep it in mind.
I think every author I've really learned decent technique from is in some way or another problematic by today's standards. But those were the authors who dove into the crux of the magic, even when it wasn't pretty. (Hell, the entire 70s was problematic by today's standards.)
Current books read more like compiled lists without any info on why a thing is (or was) done a certain way. Often I wonder - does the author really not know the origin of this practice or the theory behind it? Or are they simply avoiding any depth because they know what lies behind it but it's easier not to tell the reader?
This results in interesting debates on some subjects in the current environment because it soon becomes obvious that no one on either side of the debate really knows the origin of the practice being debated. But finding and comprehending that information is going to require looking in uncomfortable places.
But, yeah, there has been a surge of non-author books on Amazon, some gaining in popularity to the extent that many practitioners won't recommend a book unless they know, have met, have at least seen, the author in the real world.
Deities for Disabled Worshippers
If you’re disabled, chronically ill, or mentally ill, Lord Hephaestus is (of course) a great deity to build a relationship with. Still, many Gods can be worthwhile to reach out to for many things related to disability. Hermes- Can assist with communication with medical providers, payment for medical bills and medication, safe traveling (especially for those of us who use mobility aids!), fertility treatment or reproductive care, finding lost items due to brain fog, and especially for terminally ill people and those of us with life expectancy-limiting conditions: navigating into and through the afterlife. Apollo- Assisting with healing and recovery, mental health therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, treatments, medication, using art and music as a coping skill, and getting adequate and safe exposure to sunlight. Asclepius- Following treatments and therapies, taking medication, help accessing medical care, safe surgeries, researching medical conditions, etc. Asclepius is the son of Apollo and he represents the healing aspect of the medical arts; he was married to Epione (ηπιος, “soothing”) she personified the care needed for recovery. His daughters, the “Asclepiades”, are: Hygieia (“Health, Healthiness”), Iaso (from ἴασις “healing, recovering, recuperation”, the goddess of recuperation from illness), Aceso (from ἄκεσις “healing”, the goddess of the healing process), Aegle (“brightness,” or “splendor” the goddess of good health) and Panacea (the goddess of universal remedy). His sons, Machaon and Podalirius were highly skilled surgeons and medics during the Trojan war, and his son Telesphorus “the accomplisher” or “bringer of completion” was a little person, and in some myths, a child and minor God of healing from illness, particularly for children who frequently accompanied Hygieia. Many of these related deities might be more helpful for navigating specific circumstances! Psyche- Goddess of the soul, can assist with overall wellness Hypnos- Sleep and relaxation, insomnia and painsomnia, following good sleep hygiene, addressing nightmares and night terrors Hestia- Being homebound, creating a safe environment at home, accessibility within the home Dionysus- For matters concerning mental health, mad pride, celebration, intoxication, using substances to manage symptoms Thanatos- Beneficial for those of us with life-limiting and terminal conditions, death positivity, navigating suicidal ideation, transitioning into end-of-life and hospice care, writing advanced directives Hades- Particularly helpful for those of us with life-limiting and terminal conditions, death positivity, navigating suicidal ideation, transitioning into end-of-life and hospice care, writing advanced directives This is a non-exhaustive list, I personally feel that your relationship with any deity and your experiences of disability can be intertwined in endless ways! Feel free to add others in the replies!
for me there is also Artemis. she is associated with healing, though it is not her main aspect. and her wilderness comforts me, how she helps with transitioning from one state to another, how she is familiar with both pain and relief. she is absolute wilderness and the freedom that might come with it, and she helps me seeing the worth in my life, the potential that is still there.
i often feel inhuman or not part of society, and when i curl up crying from isolation and pain, i find Artemis standing at the edge of the forest, gently observing cities without settling there, intimately familiar with the rawness of nature. she is loneliness to me, both the one that is chosen and the one that is inflicted upon us but that we can choose to turn into something beautiful. i find beauty and kindness in her domain, when the sun shines through the leaves, when i see a deer somewhere, or when the moon is visible from my window, and i remember to breathe and care for myself and for the world.
i pray to her (as well as to Apollon and Asklepios) when the pain gets worse and when i want to give up. she helps me stay alive. she reminds me that stepping outside and sitting 10 minutes on the grass is already good, that dancing to a song for 5 minutes before going back to bed is still moving my body.
as i said, she helps me with seeing the worth and beauty in my life, despite how hard it can be to be disabled, and when she shows me how to move forward she also reminds me that i have the right to demand accommodations. that i have the right to exist and take space, and that i can fearlessly set boundaries for myself.
anyway, i love Artemis so much. and i think she can be very helpful for some disabled worshippers.
You don't need to do anything to be a witch. Being a witch goes beyond the superficial images on social media. It's a profound journey of self-discovery, a daily fight to become who you aspire to be. It's about forging connections with yourself and the Earth, cherishing the blessings it offers and the abundance of resources it gives you.. Witchcraft is finding your community and caring for it while prioritizing self-care. No one has the right to define your journey; it's a deeply personal exploration filled with passion and purpose. That's your journey for you to decide.
