Big huge blog news (book news)
Hi y'all!
For about a year now this news has been officially [redacted], but now it's free. My debut YA novel, BORDERLINE, was acquired by Union Square Kids, an imprint of Hatchette Book Group, and is scheduled to hit shelves next summer 2027. Also they mentioned my blog in the official announcement, as you can see, which is hilarious. Anyway.
I'm really excited to have a book out in the world soon! BORDERLINE was actually kind of built by the blog, considering my beta readers were all followers who volunteered. (Beta readers: expect a separate email). So many people have been so kind about my work here, my future work, and this whole process, so THANK YOU, first and foremost.
If you've liked what I do here, it would mean the world to me to have your continued support! Tell your online friends, tell your real life friends, tell your library, etc etc! My instagram will shortly be transforming into an author page, so if the mood strikes you, please give me a follow @lilia.vc ! This alone would be an enormous, enormous help.
Finally, if you have any questions please send them my way! Thanks again, keep writing, and as always, stay weird.
- Lilia
I thought I was the one obsessed with potatoes but it turns out that when you point it out people come with 82493 justifications about why potatoes (and it's always just them, even in my other posts few people wanted to talk about say, coffee in space) are always justified actually and you don't need to think about them
noooooooooooooo I don't wanna think about the thousands of years of civilization and culture in the Andes please please please don't make me think about other cultures pleaaaaaase just let me have my knights and wizards noooooooooo
I'm trying to be reasonable here but when you really think about it it's funny, I'm just pointing out that potatoes aren't from Europe and people instead of saying "huh, you're right, maybe I should consider that fact for my future writing" are like NOOOOOOOOOOO BUT WHAT IF A WIZARD BROUGHT THEM, there's a whole other post about how "we can't deny our fantasy characters the potato" fair, I love them too, but why don't you want to learn where your stuff came from, why do you want for "wizards" to make appear them out of nowhere instead of learning there are real people with thousands of years of history who domesticated and created those things you take from granted
are you so scared of learning some of your things actually came from other cultures that were actually not Europeans who live in castles?
does this scare you?
Putting a short pause on Book Club! Started a lot at once and spun out a wee bit. Now that I’m more adjusted to my new work schedule and taking better care of myself, I’ll be back on June 2nd!
I’ll finish reading Café con Lychee throughout June and rework how long I spend on each book. I’m not a fan of how rushed I felt with one mid-length book a month, so I may opt for a seasonal schedule rather than monthly.
This is the first time I’ve ‘doodled about it’ in a long time. It felt good!
Always bear in mind that there is absolutely no legitimate evidence that Luigi was actually the one who killed the insurance company guy.
Of course he wasn't. He was at a party with me that day.
No but like literally, actually. All bits aside.
He didn't do it.
The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.
Why would the real killer hero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi's stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?
From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.
May Book Club—Café con Lychee Pt. 2
Welcome to the Fractal Fiction Book Club!
Thank you for your patience, I got caught up with work this week and ran a little late with my reading.
We’re reading through chapters nine through seventeen of Emery Lee’s Café con Lychee today. I really enjoyed this section of the book. Learning more about both Gabi and Theo, and watching them both see how the other’s life is put together, filled up my heart. I do see some conflicts building, though, which has me excited to see how this book will come together in the second half.
Book club is best enjoyed either after reading the section with the book on hand. Let’s get started: Spoilers below!

Quick question. When someone asks what age you were in a certain year do you give the age that you were before or after your birthday that year?
Do you give the younger or older of the two ages you were that year?
I give the younger (age before your birthday in a given calendar year)
I give the older (age after your birthday in a given calendar year)

People really see being non binary as a costume that we put on to get attention or sympathy or whatever. This happens even in the trans community.
They see binary transitioning as the only way to fully transition. A non binary transition doesn't happen in these people's eyes, because we are just spicy cis people, we're not reaching our real genders yet, to be really trans.
It's just assumed that non binary people are okay with being misgendered as cis, that it's not as painful as it is for a binary trans person. And then when we complain about it, we're told to shut up and that we don't experience anything that bad, and that wanting to look non binary is asking too much and wanting to be special. It's some seriously nasty shit that I see everywhere
Had a guy at work gush to me about how much I look like some girl he wishes he could have fucked back in high school as if that’s a normal thing to tell a complete stranger who’s trying to stock shelves
Important rules for the "age verification" era of the internet that we're living in:
1. Do not do age verification.
2. If you have to do age verification, cheat. Do not under any circumstances give them your real ID.
The tool presents users with a 3D model they can then manipulate to, the creator says, bypass Discord's age verification system.
Oh no I dropped my link, what a horrible thing! Sure hope this doesn't get reblogged until it reaches users from the UK and Brazil!
And remember to not make a second account just to test out what works best when verifying your identity
Tell me why Tumblr will only load one page of my following dash, but has no trouble loading the for you dash? I’ve been thinking it was connectivity issues for weeks, but the second I jump tabs out of curiosity there’s suddenly no problem loading the shitty algorithm version.

For fans of Spider-Verse, Motorcity, Ghost Rider, Initial D, Fast and Furious, Heated Rivalry, or John Carpenter's Christine!
Lucky's mother disappeared nearly 14 years ago. He'd always wondered what drove such a respected member of their community to not only leave, but never come back. On his 24th birthday, Lucky discovers his mother's secret hidden within Grandad's barn: a race car, old, rusted, and forgotten. With the help of his long-time-crush Vick, Lucky enters an illegal street racing tournament to find answers about his mother's past. As Lucky is questioned about a hit-and-run murder, chased by police, and stalked by a demon-hunting cult leader, he realizes the car has hidden secrets of its own.
This campaign goal is to print chapter 3 in a hardcover comic book for the first time!
