moonlit
eventide falls deeper into obsidian
skies etched with veins of gold
constellations carry dreams further
while a waning full moon
sheds golden drops glistening
in sublime river music
a flowing current cascading
into reflections of a night spectrum
of deepest blues shaded into palest
lavender humming along
to robins’ songs
harbingers herald
melting snow into new melodies
rippling concentric lullabies
further than the skip of my heart

april’s become october and my mother won’t let me touch anything without bleaching it first just in case, she says because there are so many ways to say, i don’t know what’s going to happen next
but we still make carrot cake i still burn myself my brother still eats only the frosting soon, there will be something else to live through
my mother puts toothpaste on my burn and there are so many ways to say, i love you

what’s in this heart i have, i have [ i don’t know ] i think my tears are a breathing i want to rage in a madman’s glee
who’s also-heart do i hold in me [ don’t i know ] let’s do revel in our day storms all of my faces are paintings left out in the rain
i am bursting at the seams— fragile, paper-thin thoughts getting the better of me, shaking the core of what i once believed to be sturdy. this bulletproof exterior hides more than they will ever discover.

In three years we’ll make it ten -
In three years we’ll make it ten - Since you last saw me, I last saw you; I’ll be 23 And god knows where. I’m not sure how old you’ll be, But I suppose That’s how it works. I wouldn’t recognise you; But the fading dragon Tattoo on your arm. You wouldn’t recognise me; I lost that weight, Grew out my hair. My eyes have shifted From brown to green - There’s so much you could have seen, So much you could have been. But if ever I saw you, In ever more than a dream - I would turn, Run - And never look back.

I’m sinking in the quicksand of my thought And I ain’t got the power anymore Don’t believe in yourself Don’t deceive with belief Knowledge comes with death’s release
A little coffee. A little sunlight. Your troubles will get smaller.

my heart is a stone wrung from water
my heart is a river pressed against a dam
my heart is a salmon swimming up a river
my heart is a shell on the shore
my heart is a despot borne from famine
my heart is a heliograph, paraphrasing the sun
my heart is a Christmas ornament, in June
