I've been working on this month's Patreon fic this week, and here's a little snippet! Disasters AU Patroclus and Achilles are at Dei's poolside party, and Antilochus doesn't pass up the opportunity to make his move:
It takes Patroclus five minutes, more or less, to procure said drinksâa wine cooler for himself, and a mimosa that Rhea was happy to mix for Achillesâand yet, those five minutes apparently were enough for Antilochus to arrive at the party, spot Achilles, make a beeline for him through the people gathered, and start chatting him up.
It also isn't lost on Patroclus that Antilochus did all of this shirtless.
Achilles' laughter is bright and clear over the beat of the music when Patroclus draws near, and though it is usually Patroclusâ favourite sound, now it makes something sharp and ugly flare hot inside him. Antilochus is grinning at having made Achilles laugh, his teeth sparkly white against his tan, and Patroclus has to try very hard to stop himself from clocking the man in the jaw.
âPat!â Achilles exclaims happily when he sees him. He loops an arm around Patroclusâ waist to pull him closer, accepting his drink with the other hand. âAntilochus here was telling me about his summer house in Pylos.â
âHuh.â Patroclus can't begin to imagine what could be so funny about it to make Achilles laugh like that, but then Antilochus follows it up with, âI'll have it all to myself this summer, as it happens. Youâboth of youâare more than welcome to visit.â
And, yeah, Patroclus has to admit that it is actually pretty funny, because Antilochus must be fucking joking if he is even entertaining the idea of Achilles spending any amount of time in the same house as he.
âThat sounds great, doesnât it, Pat? I hear Pylos is lovely in the summer. Great beaches.â Achilles grins, taking a sip of his mimosa.
What Patroclus should have said to that is: Over my dead fucking body.
âYeah,â he says instead, smiling tightly and nodding politely.
Antilochus gives Achilles another one of his dazzling smiles, and Patroclus has the vague impression that he's flexing his musclesâGod, could he be any more shirtless?
âPromise you'll think about it, okay? I'd love to have you.â
âYeah, no shit,â Patroclus mutters, narrowing his eyes at Antilochus' back as he walks away.
