whats happening on beatles stan twitter
someone is committing themselves to the bit, and I respect it
6 July 1957
John: "...come into my heart, tell me darlin' we will never part... I need you darling, so come go with me"
Paul: he means me
Ivan: uh, it's just a song Paul
John: "...Be bop a lula, THAT IS MY BABY, THAT IS HIM, RIGHT THERE, THAT IS MY BABY, be bop a lula, I DON'T MEAN MAYBE, HE'S MINE NOBODY ELSE TOUCH HIM..."
Paul: nobody else touch me
Ivan: what is happening?
The Boys of Dungeon Lane
The central thesis of each song according to me:
As You Lie There I was an obsessive young man, and I'm an obsessive old man. If I fall for you I want you to obsess about me too.
Lost Horizon We live in time we lose people and things that meant a lot to us. Knowing that ought to shape what we do.
Days We Left Behind I'm feeling a lot better about a lot of things, but it's been a hard road getting here.
Ripples in a Pond I can't quite give full vent in public (possibly also in private) to my insecurities but I'm really glad you're here Nancy.
Mountain Top It can be really nice and fun to do mind altering drugs together.
Down South What I had with George before I met John was real and important. I love you George.
We Two I miss you John. Down South has me all in my feelings about poetry.
Come Inside I've already said I'm not going to say the secrets out loud, and that you should listen to my music. Listen!
Never Know I miss you John. I miss being your number one. And despite my previous protestations on this album I'm still never completely certain what I meant to you.
Home to Us When I speak positively about Liverpool, it doesn't mean it wasn't hard. And when Ringo speaks negatively about Liverpool, it doesn't mean it wasn't his home.
Life Can Be Hard Life can be hard. But I don't like to think about that. And honestly that approach has served me pretty well.
First Star of the Night Linda's spirit watches over our family and gives me a lot of comfort. I'm sad she's gone.
Salesman Saint The past weaves into the future. I forgive my Dad for some things I don't want to think about, but I can't think of anything I need to forgive my Mum for.
Momma Gets By The similarities between my mother's death and Linda's death still disturb me. The shit they put up with is honestly pretty upsetting. But I know, in a way that can only be conveyed in music, what it is to love someone that way.
“Paul refuses to think that there is anything that a bird can do for John that Paul can't do himself and better"
and
“There shouldn't be any part of John that's hidden from Paul.”
that fuzzy feeling when Paul gets possessive over John in fics. Yeah, baby, no one knows him like you do. He's all yours 😮💨
John cries while singing an early demo of Real Love and I’m Stepping Out. And it seems it’s about estranged Paul.
“Was I just dreaming, or was it only yesterday I used to hold you in my arms And now a baby and another on the way Lalalala farm Why must we be alone?”
*adjusting monocle* as a mclennon purist i don't celebrate fete day i celebrate the anniversary of chubby tween paul mccartney catching sight of john lennon on a bus and going "i've just found the love of my life" before haunting the streets of liverpool thereafter looking for him, which john lennon did not notice because he had the visual awareness of a deeply nearsighted mole
Did you notice? In If I Fell, written by John, there's lyrics saiyng 'If I give my heart to you...' and in Tell Me What You See, written by Paul, there's lerics saying 'If you let me take your heart...' Also these songs were sung ny only them two! Even if it's just a coincidence I think this is cute!
I hadn’t noticed that before, but it’s very likely it was intentional! If I Fell is actually Paul’s favorite song of John’s — something he’s only admitted twice (in 1964 and again in 2007). So he was clearly very attuned to the lyrics of that song, and it’s not a stretch to think he might’ve been responding to it in his own song. Paul and John did this often — they had a habit of “talking” to each other through lyrics. For instance, in If I Fell, John sings “I’ve learned that love was more than just holding hands,” which obviously echoes I Wanna Hold Your Hand. They kept doing this later too, especially in songs that seemed directed at one another: Let Me Roll It’s “You gave me something, I understand” mirrors I Wanna Hold Your Hand’s “You got that something, I think you’ll understand.” Now and Then’s opening line, “I know it’s true,” could easily connect to Dear Friend’s “Are you afraid, or is it true?” — and even I Know (I Know)’s “I know what I was missing” might be answering Dear Boy’s “I hope you never know, dear boy, how much you missed.” Because of things like this is why I have a hard time believing that Paul supposedly didn't become conscious of his true feelings for John until after John's death, as many people think. They both clearly knew what they were doing when they wrote these lyrics. So yeah, I think your observation fits perfectly with how they used to communicate musically. Great catch!
““…It’s me remembering walking down the street, dressed in black, with the guitars across our back. I can picture the exact street. It was a place called Menlove Avenue. Someone’s going to read significance into that: Paul and John on Menlove Avenue. Come onnnnnnn.””
— Paul McCartney in an interview with Rolling Stone (via sherlockholmes-doctorwatson)
The thing is, Paul, no one thought about Menlove Ave meaning anything until they read this.
At least no one I know.
Streets always have weird names. I don’t ever think about what a street means, it’s just a street name.
But YOU did.
You thought about it. We didn’t, you did.
So YOU read significance into it.
And now I do too, not because of the street name itself, but because you read significance into the street name.
An original 1960s address book owned and compiled by Bob Wooler. It contains the addresses and telephone numbers of hundreds of contacts in the music business from the sixties including groups, artists, managers, photographers, venues, agencies and the press etc., the vast majority in the hand of Bob Wooler. The entries in the book appear to have been written between 1964-1968. In the earlier part of this period, Bob was in full flow as Cavern Club DJ and it is possible that he may have used this book on a day to day basis to make reservations for the club. It provides a perfect snapshot of the Merseybeat scene in the sixties.
The address book lists Brian Epstein’s London telephone number (Regent 3261) and all of the Beatles contact details: John Lennon is listed under Aunt Mimi (251 Menlove Ave, Liverpool L18), Paul McCartney (Garston 4073), George Harrison (174 Mackets Lane) and Ringo Starr is listed as Richie Starkey (10 Admiral Grove, Dingle, Liverpool 8). Former Beatles drummer Pete Best is also listed (Stanley 6404). [x]

Does anyone know when this interview with Rolling Stone was done?
Paul said the exact same thing when he was on the Michael Parkinson show in the early 2000s and someone in the audience wolf-whistled! 😭
