Yellooooooooooooow. Hi. This is a post because it’s happened so frequently now that I don’t think I’ll be able to correct everyone individually so brief PSA — this applies to all my terms, but has been happening a lot with egocieve for some reason — PLEASE do not redefine or reword the definition of my terms. a lot of the term this seems innocuous but due to a telephone game effect I’ve seen really integral parts of the definitions of my terms be omitted over time.
if you MUST have some kind of short version of the definition, please use: “a term for when you consider yourself the ‘x person’ in a way that is central to your identity.”. the second part with examples is very significant and id prefer it to be kept but if you MUST at the least the ‘x person’ part is the whole point of the term itself.
this is not just egocieve, this has happened before with terms like ambitherian, to the point where I’ve seen the definition completely incorrect even off of tumblr. what is most frustrating is that a lot of people who shorten terms down to a brief summary seem to do so to fit a certain concise aesthetic for their posts. coining posts do not need to be brief! they can and should include copious amounts of detail!
anyways. tldr. please don’t reword my terms to the point where it takes away from their intended definition, especially in coining posts. if you need to summarise for a prns.cc or such I understand, but if you’re really unsure by your reworded definition you are always welcome to run it by me.
