The One Direction singer has wished his former bandmate all the best
Liam Payne has wished Zayn Malik all the best on his birthday - and One Direction fans are overjoyed.
The remaining members of 1D haven’t appeared to stay good terms with Zayn - who turned 24 on Thursday - after he quit in 2015, but now their relationship looks to be on the mend after this lovely tweet from his former bandmate.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday evening, Liam sent Directioners into a frenzy as he wrote: “@zaynmalik Happy birthday bro! Hope all is well and you have a good day celebrating it (sic)”
Not surprisingly, fans immediately responded with a wave of love for the gesture, with many hinting they were crying tears of joy.
“OH MY GOD YALL (sic),” wrote one, as another added: “This just made my day.”
It comes after reports Zayn was still actively supporting fellow ex-1D star Louis Tomlinson through his mum’s death late last year .
No doubt reassuring One Direction fans, an inside source close to the star said: “Zayn has been in touch with Louis privately, and will continue to offer his support that way”.
Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam regrouped at Wembley Arena for 24 year-old Louis’ emotionally-charged solo performance, which was dedicated to his late mum.
Hours before the X Factor semi-final was broadcast, Zayn ended a long-standing feud with Louis via a public Twitter message which read: “@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro! All of your family is in my prayers. proud of your strength and know your mum is too x”.
It was the first public correspondence between the young men since they famously engaged in a spat when news of Malik’s emerging solo career first surface.

This bromance will live forever.
Ever since One Direction broke up there’s been rumors that the boys don’t talk anymore and have completely gone their separate ways. Even before they broke up, there were stories that they all completely despised Zayn Malik for quitting the band and trying to make it big as a solo artist.
Although the boys may not have been happy that Zayn pulled out less than a year before they were all going to go on a hiatus, that doesn’t mean the previous four years as a five some meant nothing to them. The lads spent every waking moment together whether they were recording, on tour, meeting fans, traveling or just goofing around.
Once and for all, hopefully, Liam Payne has squashed the rumors that Zayn completely disappeared from their lives when he quit.
Today is Zayn’s 24th birthday and Liam has actually publicly reached out to him to wish him a good day and Directioners are downright freaking out. This hasn’t happened in years and it’s seriously beautiful. Not only does it show that Liam was thinking of his buddy, but also that they are on cordial enough terms to show the world.
It was a simple tweet, but it’s the thought that counts, right? Right. Liam wrote, “@zaynmalik Happy birthday bro! Hope all is well and you have a good day celebrating it .”
Aww! This is amazing and it’s great to see Liam contacting Zayn on such a special day. Our fingers are crossed that Zayn responds. This would make for one epic cyberspace reunion!
None of the other One Direction members have reached out to Zayn as of yet. However, there were always rumors that Zayn was the closest to Liam so this all kind of makes sense. Not only that but several months ago Liam was caught in an airport and when asked if he still spoke to Zayn, he said that he did!
Of course, we can never know for sure but history goes a long way when it comes to One Direction.
In case you missed it, there was a mini One Direction reunion on Twitter today. Well, sort of.
Liam Payne took to social media to shout out former band member Zayn Malik on his birthday. Zayn’s big day clearly brings out all the love from celebrities, from his girlfriend Gigi Hadid, to the guys that used to share the stage with him.
On Twitter, Liam wrote, “Happy birthday bro! Hope all is well and you have a good day celebrating it.” Naturally, he added a bunch of emojis as one must do when they post a birthday tribute to one of their besties.
This message is just another extension of Liam and Zayn’s friendship. Remember, after Zayn left One Direction, Liam was right there for him with support and he was also quick to explainthat there were no hard feelings between the now-solo singer and the rest of the group. Additionally, Liam has made it clear that Zayn is totally irreplaceable – as it should be.
While an ~official~ One Direction reunion still hasn’t taken place, these little exchanges of Liam and Zayn’s bromance are certainly a silver lining.
It looks like Liam Payne has put the dissolution of One Direction behind him. The pop star sent birthday wishes to Zayn Malik via Twitter.

Despite assurances that they were all still friends, things got a little frosty when Zayn Malik left One Direction.Louis Tomlinson threw shade on Twitter, Niall Horan barely looked at his ex-bandmate when they wereforced to shake hands at the 2016 AMAs and the“Pillowtalk” hitmaker didn’t exactly help matters bytrashing the band’s music and playing victim in interviews. “I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people,” he complained to Billboard in 2016.
Well, things seem to be thawing out. Today (January 12), Liam Payne reached out via Twitter to wish Zayn a happy 24th birthday. “Happy birthday bro! Hope all is well and you have a good day celebrating it,” he tweeted. The birthday boy is yet to reply, but it’s nice to see someone making an effort. As for Liam, he’s currently putting the finishing touches on his debut solo single. It’s expected to be released via Republic Records early this year. See his well-intentioned tweet below.

Louis Tomlinson has said goodbye to late mother Johannah Deakin at an intimate funeral service attended by a select group of close friends and family members – amongst them One Direction band-mate Liam Payne.
The singer paid his respects to Johannah, who died earlier this month following a short battle with leukemia, in his hometown of Doncaster on December 21, three days before his 25th birthday.
The Doncaster Star report that close friend Liam, 23, joined Louis and his family for the private service and a subsequent wake, held at Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Restaurant in Nottinghamshire civil parish Barnby Moor.
It’s understood that security at the contemporary country hotel was increased to ensure the singer, his younger sisters Lottie, 18, Felicite, 16, twins Daisy and Phoebe, both 12, and twin brother and sister Ernest and Doris, both aged two could grieve in private.
Following Johannah’s death, a family statement read: ‘It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin’s family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday 7th December 2016.‘Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment.
'We respectfully request that the family are given time and space to grieve in private.’
Grieving husband Dan Deakin, Louis’ stepfather, also paid tribute to his 'selfless’ wife, while thanking the doctors who assisted her during her final weeks.
Sharing a lengthy statement, he wrote: 'Johannah was first and foremost a truly amazing mother to seven children – Louis , Lottie, Félicité, and two sets of twins, Phoebe and Daisy and Ernest and Doris – whose individual talents and success are testament to the principles and beliefs she instilled in them. She was also an incredibly proud grandmother to Freddie.
'Incredibly selfless, she would always look to put other people before herself. She desired nothing more than for everyone around her to be happy and loving.
“She worked tirelessly on numerous charity campaigns, creating memories for many individuals and their families.
'It wasn’t uncommon for Johannah to hear through the media of an individual in need of assistance, and she would immediately make it her objective to get that person what they often desperately needed, and rarely without success.
'These are the things that made Johannah happy and content in life, and all of which for me made her simply the perfect wife and best friend to face each day with.
'I thoroughly loved walking through life with her, and though five years was far too short a time, during that time we had so many lifetimes worth of happiness, adventures, and memories.
“We would like to send our sincere thanks to Professor Steve Mackinnon and his team at University College London Hospital where Johannah was hospitalised since May.
'And during the last few weeks Professor John Snowden and his colleagues at Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield.’
