Darron Parker - Billing Manager
Meet Darron Parker, a valued member of the PCC team who brings a wealth of experience and a passion for community education to his role. Growing up in Chicago and later in University Park, Darron has worn many hats throughout his career, from construction and warehouse work to retail. His journey eventually led him to the Navigator Program during the Obama Era, where he discovered a passion for helping underserved communities. This passion fueled his transition into Billing, where he continues to make a difference.
Darron's diverse educational background includes studying Psychology and Web Design at Prairie State College. He even ran a small web design and coding business before the tragic loss of a close friend brought that chapter to a close. Never one to stop learning, Darron pivoted again, this time to Billing and Coding, blending his technical skills with a heart for service.
Outside of his work at PCC, Darron is a man of many talents. He's an accomplished writer, recently completing a screenplay, and an aspiring stand-up comedian who's performed all over Chicago, including at the renowned Laugh Factory.
Looking ahead, Darron aims to combine his professional skills and passion for community service by offering Financial and Insurance education workshops through his current role at PCC. He is committed to empowering individuals with the knowledge they need to navigate complex systems and secure a better future for themselves and their families.
We’re thrilled to have Darron on the PCC team, where his creativity, dedication, and drive to make a difference truly shine.
Q: What inspired you to pursue your current career path?
A: I wanted to help people navigate the complexities of health insurance. It's a challenging process and having someone to guide you can significantly reduce financial barriers to healthcare. No one should fear seeking care because of the potential costs.
Q: What motivates you to keep pushing forward in your career?
A: My motivation comes from a desire to continually learn and be as knowledgeable as possible in my field. The more I know, the better I can serve and support others.
Q: What is one thing you can't live without at work?
A: Coffee—lots of it! But honestly, I couldn’t do without my coworkers, my team, and my department. We’re in this together, and their support is invaluable. Oh, and did I mention coffee?
Q: What's a goal you have for the next year, either personally or professionally?
A: Professionally, I aim to keep growing in my field and developing our department. Personally, I'd like to finish a book I started a year ago…if I can find the time!
Q: What excites you most about working at PCC?
A: The constant change. There's always something new, and I enjoy adapting to an ever-evolving environment and rising to new challenges.
Q: How do you balance work and personal life? Any tips for others?
A: I’m probably not the best person to give advice on this—I’m still figuring out the balance myself. For me, life tends to follow work, but somehow, life always finds a way.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Any hobbies or interests you’d like to share?
A: I fancy myself an amateur chef, inspired after watching The Bear, and I love experimenting with new recipes. I’m also a film enthusiast, so I try to catch the latest movies in theaters whenever I can.
