THEY DID NOT KILL THE PMS WIFE.
They burned the parliament building and he ran away, leaving her there to die. The protesters rescued her and took her to the hospital. She is alive, despite her husband.
Another politician ran away when protesting was near his home, abandoning his disabled wife. Protesters helped her too, carrying her out of the home and taking care of her.
After the protesting was done they then cleaned up all the damage. They found the looters who took advantage of the protests and forced them to give back everything they stole from businesses.
And the protesting wasn’t because of the ban, the big protest was because when they were protesting the ban (peacefully) 12 of them were shot and killed and 100s of them were injured. The death count from then kept going up for a while but last I heard it was about 30 dead.
That’s what kicked off the government burning and whatnot.
the problem with being kind of unashamedly a weird guy is that its still kind of hurtful when people treat you like you’re weird. like yeah man I know you perceive me as very eccentric and an iconoclast but if you’re constantly reacting to me like I’ve grown two heads and said something totally insane every time I open my mouth. I uh. I am not gonna feel especially welcomed in your life. you know.
Humanity going extinct because everyone collectively decides to stop reproducing would not be the worst case scenario, actually. I don’t think that is going to happen and I think people fear-mongering about it because of the declining birthrate are fucking absurd but compared to all the possible causes for the extinction of humanity (total nuclear annihilation, drug-resistant supervirus, earth becoming completely uninhabitable) humans saying “Nah, no more.” and just giving up on continuing to reproduce is a much gentler ending to our species. One of the best extinction scenarios but unlikely/impossible.
i'm listening to gathering moss, by robin wall kimmerer, and she is talking about a very odd job she was consigned to do, where an eccentric millionaire recuited her to consult on a "habitat restoration". when she arrives, the job they actually want her to do is to tell them how to plant mosses on the rocks in his garden. he wants it to look like a specific, beautiful wild cliff in the woods nearby, with centuries-old beds of moss growing thick and strong. she tells him it is impossible. such a thing would take decades to accomplish.
later, she is called back to look at the progress of the moss garden and is amazed by the thick, well-established mosses. how did they do it? she asks.
then they take her out to the woods and show her that they have been blasting huge chunks of rock out of the cliff, packaging them in burlap, and moving them to the owner's garden.
This quote really got me: "The owner is a man who loves mosses, and the exercise of power. I have no doubts of his sincerity in wishing to protect them from harm, once they conformed to his landscape design. But I think you cannot own a thing and love it at the same time. Owning diminishes the sovreignty of a thing, enriching the possessor and diminishing the possessed. If he truly loved mosses more than control, he would have left them alone, and walked each day to see them."

this is what i say when anything happens ever

do you think that, after shepard blocks garrus’ shot, thane takes him aside and sits him down and is like let me tell you about how i met my wife
she commit acts of intercourse on my erogeneous zones until i achieve sexual climax
No she doesnt. You made this up for notes.
Man forever thinking about garrus saying “we’re in this till the end”
Like he had fully accepted that he and Shepard would die taking down the reapers and was prepared for it. But didn’t want her to go down alone.
In the moment he’s not mad that Shepard is walking into certain death, but is angry that he won’t be there with them.

i dont think i will ever be over dragon age 2. like. bioware made an epic fantasy story about a chosen one having to save a country and stop the apocalypse and then they made the second installment of the series be about the sociopolitical climate in ONE city through the lens of a family of refugees fleeing from the war of the first game and just. made it about political tensions and class dynamics and the influences of living in a church-mandated state and the growing tension over an occupied piece of the city and political killings and interpersonal conflict and power and its story is ENTIRELY character-driven. it has easily the most iconic set of companion characters. the premise of living through a story told over the course of ten years and knowing from the start that something really bad will happen in the end was so fresh and exciting. the fact that the acts really built on top of each other andhow much the city changed over time. and the game was so mature in terms of the topic of fighting against oppression in so many ways (im usually generous and say that the short development time left some things a bit wanting), and as much as some people say that the game treats mages and templars as being equally bad, i don't think that that is actually true about the game and it very earnestly tries to grapple with some pretty complex political dynamics.
and then the game completely flopped financially and was almost universally hated for its queer themes and its sympathy for "terrorism" and a lot of the things that stemmed from basically having no production time at all and then the studio just made another epic fantasy story about a chosen one that has to save the world from the apocalypse
One of my favorite banters <3
Speaking of which, you should ready yourself.
