hyper-specific favorite trope: found family but they have little in common. found family but they fight all the time. found family but the one thing they share is so life-defining and rare that it connects them with each other on such a deep level that they know there is no other community that will accept them as they are, and that even though they may fight and rail against each other and struggle to define their relationships and expectations for said relationships they also know that they will never abandon each other and that they will always come home because nowhere else feels safe

i'm not aro but i find it so annoying whenever i see a well-written, tight-knit friendship & people immediately jump to "they're dating/poly/qpr" like NO. they are FRIENDS. are we familiar with that concept? and it's getting to the point where i am genuinely afraid to write complex friendships because i don't want people to be like "oh this relationship is Too Meaningful to just be platonic" like no??? it's meaningful because it's platonic. ugh

Trusting his friends to keep him safe, he lays his head against the wall of the bath, but he doesn’t fall asleep.

Across the room, Kirishima catches his eye and gives him a thumbs-up and a grin. Izuku watches him blankly, wishing he could return the smile, but he just can’t.

Basically, I thought the end to the Dark Deku arc was too lighthearted, and I wanted more of a tender, angsty beat about recovering through burnout.
