âOh dear! What was it?â She leant forward towards the other princess, trying to remain still.
âOh no! Donât worry. Heâs a little odd but I like him. Heâs very handsome too,â aesthetically the man had been very pretty and even his toothy grin was something to appreciate. The girl before her was very lovely too so Rapunzel could only assume that people that came from where they lived were all very very beautiful. (Even the pigs!)
âI canât imagine him doing anything to gain a bad reputation in Corona. Weâre all very loving towards strangers from all over.â Rapunzel begins to walk and hopes that Eilonwy takes the hint and follows after her. âIf youâre with the king then you probably will be staying in the castle too. He failed to mention you a ââ
The princess stops and turns around to look at the girl. Didnât Taran act like he was being followed? Could this girl be a stalker? âHow is it you know him again?â
âOh, you think so?â Well, that was something great to hear from fellow royalty! Eilonwy felt herself relax a bit, even giving way to silently agree on just how handsome her fiance was. Shame he hadnât become so handsome earlier on in their youth. Perhaps she would have been nicer. No you wouldnât, she mused to herself.
The princess smiled and quickly followed by the otherâs side, still giving way to look about the city. Her curiosity simply would not allow otherwise! It was enough so that she nearly walked past Rapunzel, being so caught up in the curious but beautiful paint work of the houses, before she realized the princess had stopped just behind her. Turning on her heel, Eilonwyâs smile turned bashful--in part from the embarrassment of going ahead, and partially because of the question itself.
âWell, you see... heâs my betrothed.âÂ

Disney Ladies Appreciation Month â Day 19: Eilonwy
âYes, thatâs what I said,â he responds with a nod. His face then lights up with a smile at her accepting his invitation and he takes a step towards her, offering his arm.
âIâm not sure, which is part of the reason I was hoping to go.â He hoped to see a few new faces among the crowds, an indicator of the growing success of the market place.
She gave him a funny but endearing face at his offer, before gingerly taking his arm yet still leading them both out.Â
âI can remember days past when you would never of thought to offer your arm, rather than just pull me along.â She stopped as they reached the door, pausing to look up at him with the faint beginnings of a wry smile. âAre we getting old do you think, Taran?â
There, a bright smile on the girlâs face graced her features    and spoke of excitement of someone being truly and honestly interested.  â  Yes, my mother used to sing it to me when I was a child,  â  her eyes soften at the mention of Lady Kapuletov,  â  Iâm from the Tsarism of Russia, ĐŒĐžĐ»Đ”ĐŽĐž.  â
âTsarism?â She had never heard the term. Was it the same as a kingdom in her language? It sounded lovely. And she seemed quite proud to be from it. âI come from Prydain, somewhere far West of this land. Would you tell me what the song is about?â Eilonwy truly had no barriers in making new friends sometimes.
As a Professional Meander-er, he could empathize well with all the feelings that accompanied an aimless walk through any courtyard or street or forestpath, so Phillip said little on the oddity of it. His MAIN point of focus was her unoffensive, but strange ignorance of the person she stood before.Â
Phillip rubbed at the back of his neck and dragged it down half his cheekâa crude attempt at masking his bemused grin. âI would hope so, FrĂ€ulein! I was born in it.â
She froze on the spot when she heard him, like a deer caught alone in a meadow. Unsure what to do next, her eyes widened and she pursed her lips shut. Years learning courtly manners had practically gone down the river! Eilonwy swallowed slowly and bowed her head respectfully --and partially to hide the pinkness of embarrassment rising to her pallid cheeks. âOh, dear...â She mumbled.
âForgive me, your Highness. Iâm not familiar with this kingdom...â and really, she hadnât expected to find him wandering so freely about either! The last kingdom she had visited, the royals had never even thought to leave their castle in their whole entire lives. At least the princess from the neighboring kingdom--what was itâs name? Corona?-- She had been so very kind and beloved by the people. Was this prince the same way? Or something else? A troublemaker, perhaps...?Â
âI hail from the Kingdom of Prydain...Iâve come a very long way!â
When the sun found the moon She was drinking tea in a garden Under the green umbrella trees In the middle of summer When the moon found the sun He looked like he was barely hanging on But her eyes saved his life In the middle of summer

âLong ago I yearned to be a hero without knowing, in truth, what a hero was. Now, perhaps, I understand it a little better. A grower of turnips or a shaper of clay, a Commot farmer or a  k i n g âevery man is a hero if he strives more for others than for himself alone. Once you told me that the seeking counts more than the finding. So, too, must the striving count more than the gain.â

Peering around the door and into the room where Eilonwy was, Taran called out to her. âI heard the market has a good variety of things to sell today. Would you care to come along with me? I was hoping to check on things myself.â
âThe market place?â Eilonwy repeated, quirking her head up. She felt her heart flutter for a moment, knowing full well that really Taran wanted to spend time with her. âOh, yes! I donât see why not.â
âWhich merchant is in town? Do you know?â She asked and bounded over towards the door.
asundrop:
âReally? Huh.â That was a first. Usually her name was answered with a series of confused expressions and sometimes even chuckles. It wasnât every day you met a princess named Lettuce but perhaps this girl didnât know any German and so didnât know any better. E-LONG-wEEN, seemed to be a perfectly nice girl and she felt the need to at least return the compliment yet when she tried to repeat the name it tripped on her lips and the compliment turned into a raaaaather embarrassing series of apologies.Â
âOh Iâm so sorry. I have a hard time with names sometimes. I promise Iâll practice, Eee-lun-way -WEE!â Another nervous laugh lead her to a sigh and her tightlipped expression and tiny anxious bouncing drew her wandering gaze to the castle. âOh! King. YES! I see now! You came with His Majesty King Taran! Your accents are very similar. I should have known.â
It was true, she had never even heard the German language before in her life, let alone Italian. This was all terribly new to her. But it sounded nice upon her ears, so she did not think anything of strange phrases or names for the time being.
Hers, however, she understood was exceedingly strange for most people she had met outside of her own kingdom. Eilonwy covered her mouth to stifle her giggle before waving Rapunzel sympathetically off, âI appreciate the effort-- I suppose itâs an odd name for most to hear and twice as hard to say! Like saying moose, mice, meese three times fast!âÂ
Following her gaze, Eilonwy spied the castle towering over the top of the city. She felt her chest tighten with an anxiety of her own that caused her to wring her thin hands together. Without looking back at her, the princess said,âOh, youâve met his Majesty already then? I hope he made a good impression. Weâve come a very long away and...â She mumbled, trailing off. they were all really looking forward to making new allies...

For some reason, visitors always seemed so surprised at the heat when they arrived at Agrabah. Itâs not like it her kingdom was located in the Seven Deserts or anything. Well, we are in the middle of a desert, she wanted to say, but her manners kept her mouth shut. After all, she wasnât well acquainted with the young princess (queen?) yet and first impressions are first impressions. So instead, she gave a polite chuckle and nodded agreeably.
âYes, it can get a bit hot here, but itâs not unbearable. I find that as long as you dress properly, you should be fine. You wouldnât like a change of clothes, would you?â
Eilonwy looked down at her own garb, realizing that a change of clothes probably would be best. Especially if she planned not to die of heat stroke for a ridiculous amount of layers.Â
âOh dear,â She said and smiled sheepishly at the beautiful stranger. âIt wouldnât be terribly rude if I did?â Oh! Speaking of rude, she had failed to introduce herself. The princess bowed her head politely before the other could answer. âIâm called Eilonwy where I am from, somewhere where itâs still taboo for a lady to wear pants at court.â She said sardonically and daintily shuffled her skirts. âUnfortunately.â Â
