Taissa Turner: Minnesota Lynx 🐾🐆 - Always a contender. Excellent team. Driven. Charismatic. Their biggest opponent is themselves. GAY.

Van Palmer: New York Liberty 🗽🐘- The personality, the fun, the best mascot in the league. The Libs play with a lot of heart and anyone who is a fan of them is sure to have a great time. GAY

Shauna Shipman: Indiana Fever 🤒♨️ - Who else could it be? The team everyone loves to hate. Not many people feel indifferent to them. But they are the most popular team. They are very skilled but often overshadowed by the drama.

Jackie Taylor: LA Sparks 🌴✨- Beloved team from the origin of the league that has lost some of its sparkle. They have the money, they have all the tools to be excellent, but just aren’t able to step into their Queen Bee role anymore. Can’t blame fans for loving them.

Misty Quigley: Connecticut Sun ☀️🩳- Team that’s been around for ages but has not secured a win. They just really gotta get it together. They try, though. Fans are loyal and chill people.

Natalie Scatorccio: Las Vegas Aces 🃏♠️- Often starting out each season as disorganized and a bit messy, but they never fail to completely lock in and become a force to be reckoned with. Overrated but who can blame anyone for loving them. Easily the most fun team to party with.

Lottie Matthews: Phoenix Mercury 🌡️- Always in playoff contention. Very serious team. Controversial. Tough physicality. You can dislike them, but you cannot deny their ability and magnetism. It’s heliotrope, not purple.

Laura Lee: Seattle Storm ⛈️⚡️ - GAY. Very formative team in the franchise that has lost some luster. Surprisingly fierce competition. Soars to big heights before crashing down.

Mari Ibarra: Dallas Wings 🐴🪽- The team with ✨personality✨ we all root for them so badly but decisions out of their control take them out every damn time. It can be controversial to like them, but that’s just hater behavior. So gay.

Akilah: Washington Mystics 🧙🏾‍♀️🪄- Team Youngblood! Youngest roster. Well-loved by fans everywhere, good sportsmanship. Skilled and versatile.

Travis Martinez: Atlanta Dream 🌙🦅- Underrated team! One of the greats! Less flashy about their accomplishments than other teams but are a solid performer and a backbone of the league.

Javi Martinez: Portland Fire 🔥 🌹- Baby franchise that’s not the best by any stretch but people that like the team are having a good time, that’s what counts. Was away for a long time then came back. Some heartbreaking losses.

Melissa Hat: Golden State Valkyries 👼🗼- Newer franchise that’s quickly came swinging right out of the gate. Hotshots. Hard to dislike because there’s a good earnestness there. Sometimes makes decisions that have you going “girl, what in the hell are you doing?”

Gen: Toronto Tempo 🥁🧮- Newer franchise that’s quickly finding its footing! A skilled team that has good balance. Do not underestimate them!

Coach Ben: Chicago Sky 🏙️🌥️- The team that has many makings of greatness but poor administrative decisions and injuries are always impacting them. Get it together, please.

I know there’s this desire in the YJ fandom right now (myself included at times) for Nat to become more outwardly vicious or explosive like Shauna, especially after Season 3 (I’ve even seen posts advocating for her to “switch places with Shauna” in Season 4), but I can’t help but feel like that would do a disservice to both characters.

One of the main appeals of Nat and Shauna’s roles on the show is how they contrast in the ways they express trauma and anger. They both have a deep sense of self-hatred and a core belief that they poison the people they love and are therefore undeserving of closeness, but they embody it through completely different survival mechanisms. Shauna externalizes and lashes out until she has destroyed everything she could possibly risk caring about and allowing herself to love. Nat internalizes and drowns in her guilt until she has destroyed herself to the point that no one will come near her. Shauna cannot tolerate her grief and self-blame sitting inside her, so she projects it outward onto everyone around her. Nat turns it inward and lets it consume her. And in doing so, both of them continually recreate the very conditions that traumatized them in the first place. Shauna’s externalization manifests as violence, continually reinforcing her belief that she is dangerous and undeserving of love, while Nat’s internalization leaves her frozen and passive, complicit in harms she can never forgive herself for, trapping her in a relentless cycle of guilt and self-punishment.

That’s why they understand each other so deeply while also constantly clashing. Shauna sees Nat’s moral posturing as hypocrisy because she recognizes the same guilt inside her. Nat sees Shauna’s brutality and rejects it because Shauna externalizes what Nat spends her entire life trying to contain ("Keep the tiger in the cage").

I don’t want to see Nat become outwardly abusive and aggressive in the way Season 3 Shauna was. That trauma response is unique to Shauna, in the same way that Lottie’s religious fanaticism is unique, Tai’s compartmentalization and dissociation are unique, Van’s escapism, Misty’s obsession, Travis’ submission, ETC. Each character represents the many different, complex faces of trauma. The brilliance of Nat’s dark side is that it comes out through manipulation, playing the moral high ground, and remaining complicit. She has brief, fleeting moments when her anger breaks through the surface, and we see her lash out, but she almost always retreats afterward, collapsing inward and resuming her state of passivity and paralysis in the face of her guilt. Nat’s pathology has always been quieter than Shauna's, but it can be equally as destructive.

Nat's tendency to internalize her rage and trauma makes moments like her faking Javi's death and allowing him to die, covering up the truth from Travis, or taking the moral high ground during Ben’s trial so compelling. Nat’s cruelty rarely looks like Shauna’s. It looks like silence, rationalization, letting something terrible happen because intervening would force her to fully confront herself (and the fact that she's benefiting from these terrible acts). The way she drowns in her guilt and wears her remorse on her sleeve creates the illusion of innocence. And that distinction is far more interesting than simply turning her into another version of Shauna.

none of these belong to ai. these are all what human writers have been writing since day one, way before ai was invented. ai was trained to mimic how human writers write — so em dash, not x not y but z and short sentence stacking would never have been used by ai at all if ai hadn’t learned and mimicked them from human writers.

no, you are not “fighting against ai” by accusing every work that has em dash, not x not y but z or short sentence stacking in it as ai-generated, you are helping ai harm the writing community by engaging in witch hunt and scaring human writers away from creating/sharing their works for fear of being wrongly accused of using ai.

speculations, accusations and ai witch hunt harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.

Needed a little writing warmup, so I present to you:

Stonerjackets

(Yellowjackets pre-crash stoner headcanons)

Nat: The most seasoned of the Stonerjackets (obviously). Constantly rolling the joints, rolling the blunts, packing the bowls. NEVER holds up or breaks the rotation; smokes while she rolls. Gets the most shit from everyone else when she does end up coughing, even though she coughs the least out of the Stonerjackets.

Van: Has hung out with Nat often enough that puff-puff-pass is second nature, no matter how deep into a conversation she is. Can roll a joint if needed. Equally funny when stoned and when not, but does voices more when baked. Will accidentally steal a lighter from time to time.

Tai: Almost never coughs because every hit is taken with calculated precision to ensure it. Won’t let how baked she is show, so her usual tells are how red her eyes are and how long she lets herself stare at Van when she thinks no one is looking. Makes sure no one hogs the piece/joint/etc.

Jackie: Lightweight; starts talking louder when stoned. “You know what we should do, you guys?” and never follows through (usually for the better).

Shauna: Gets cuddlier (with Jackie especially) when stoned. Sometimes gets writing inspiration and has to jot it down right then and there or she WILL forget.

Travis: Has a dedicated jacket he wears when smoking and hides it in the bushes at home so his dad won’t suspect. Likes to blow smoke rings just to poke them. Tries to out-smoke Nat and rarely does. Won’t realize how baked he is until he stands up/sits down.

Lottie: Good at making it seem like she’s smoking more than she actually is. Does a French inhale nine times out of ten. Usually the one pushing for a spliff instead of a joint. Brings the snacks because she almost always gets the munchies.

Misty: Wasn’t invited, but overheard the plan and insists she won’t tell anyone as long as they let her have some. Talks a mile a minute to anyone who will listen (and some who won’t) after one (1) hit and three uninterrupted minutes of coughing.

Laura Lee: Here for the camaraderie. Doesn’t partake, but does end up getting hotboxed half the time and gets very giggly.

Mari: Will babysit a bong if that’s what’s being passed around; has heard “How much are you getting paid?” (“To babysit that bong!”) a million times and still gets confused. Says “This isn’t even that strong” while also forgetting what she was about to do/say.

Left to Face This Alone - 1 (REWRITE)

Pairing: Rhea Ripley/Reader

Warnings: None yet

Summary: You’re an interviewer and unfortunately for you, Rhea takes a liking to you.

A/N: Decided to rewrite this and make it a bit different than the original. (Aka: Rhea is going to be much worse and it’s going to be a slower build up)

You took a deep breath, trying your best to stay calm as you watched The Judgement Day approach you. You were scheduled to interview them, but this was your first time interacting with them, and it was safe to say that they were very intimidating. You really hoped that this interview was going to go by fast. Your close friend, Liv, had been injured by her former tag partner and friend, Rhea, who just so happened to be a part of The Judgment Day.

You took a deep breath, getting your mind off your friend as The Judgment Day stood in front of you. The last thing you needed was for you to slip up and make them angry. Granted, they were early—you weren’t expecting them for at least another fifteen minutes. You tried your best not to pay too much attention to them, scrolling on your phone to at least kill some time before you had to do your job. You were too busy with that to notice that Rhea was staring at you. 

Finally, you looked up when Dom cleared his throat. You were surprised that he looked as nervous as he was—shifting in his spot while everyone’s eyes were on you.

“Hey, sorry,” you began. “You guys were early and I had to check on a few things.” 

It was a lie, but they didn’t need to know that. Not when you could barely stand them. 

“Oh, it’s alright,” Rhea smirked, her eyes trailing down from your face to your phone in your hands. “I know we’re early, but I’d rather be early than on time sometimes, you know?”

You nodded. “I get it.”

“I know you’re very close with Liv.” Rhea pointed out as she moved closer toward you. 

You swallowed nervously. “Yeah—yeah, we’re… best friends.”

Rhea smirked, repeating “Best friends.”

“Yeah…” you trailed off, wanting to get off the subject. You looked at your phone once more to check the time. “We’ve got about five minutes before your interview starts and it shouldn’t take too long.” 

Rhea nodded, waving the others to come closer. It surprised you a little, seeing how fast they listened to her. You took a few deep breaths as the camera crew came in.

The interview went smoothly and as much as you don’t like them, you had a good time. As you grabbed your bag and were about to leave to go into catering, Rhea stopped you. 

“Hey, wait a minute.” 

You froze in place, forcing yourself to turn around after a few seconds. 

“Would you like to go out to eat? Just me and you?” Rhea asked.

Your eyes widened in shock at her question, considering that she was aware you were best friends with Liv. You wondered if she was only asking you to rub salt in Liv’s wound.

“Can I… can I think it over?” You asked. 

“Yeah, that’s fine,” Rhea answered. “Give me your phone.”

You looked at her with confusion written all over your face. “Excuse me?” 

Rhea smirked, shaking her head. “So I put my number in your phone.” 

You opened your mouth to say something, but the words weren’t coming out. Instead, you pulled out your phone and unlocked it, handing it to the Australian. You watched as she put her number in, calling her own phone so she could also have your number. 

“Let me know by tomorrow night or I’ll be upset.” She stated.

Despite the smile that was on her face, you had a feeling that she wasn’t joking. Rhea handed you your phone back before she walked away and out of the room. 

You weren’t sure what to even think about the whole thing. Do you say yes and risk your friendship with Liv? Or do you say no and forget about it? You were going to make sure you thought about it before making a final decision.

Unlocking your phone, you pulled up your texts with Liv.

You: Hey, I have to tell you something.

Liv: What’s up?

You: Rhea just asked me to go out to eat with her.

Liv: What the fuck? Why would she ask you?

You bit your lip, unsure as to how to respond to that. 

You: Not sure, but it caught me off guard. What should I do?

Liv: A part of me wants to say don’t do it, but I’m curious as to what she wants with you.

You rolled your eyes when you read her text.

Of course she did.

Before you could respond, you got another text. Only this time, it wasn’t from Liv; it was from Rhea.

Rhea: I think you’d have a fun time if we went out to eat. It can be dinner or lunch or even breakfast, but  don’t say no.

You took a deep breath, feeling bad for even keeping her waiting this long. You’ve always been a people pleaser and you hated it.

You: Okay. But it would have to be dinner, I’ve got a bunch of interviews scheduled for tomorrow and I won’t be done until four. 

You left the room with your stuff, hoping you weren’t going to regret this. She was a part of The Judgement Day after all, and a part of you didn’t trust her. 

When you got to your car, you checked your phone to see if she responded.

Rhea: That’ll work. I can pick you up from your hotel around 5-ish if you’d like.

You: Yeah! That’ll work. I’ll see you then. 😁

You put your phone on do not disturb and pulled up your maps app so you could find your way back to your hotel room. You couldn’t wait to sleep, knowing that tomorrow was going to be a long day. If you could get to bed early and get up early, you could go and buy a new outfit to wear when you went to dinner with Rhea. Especially since you haven’t bought a new outfit in so long, you just wanted to wear something you hadn’t worn before. 

“Fucking hell.” You said out loud with a laugh.
