Happy times
The EU is currently asking the public for their opinion on what they should focus on for the new Youth Strategy.
European Commission - Have your say
I recommend every young person in the EU and beyond to go fill out this questionnaire, have your say on YOUR future and then share it with your friends.
The EU programs also influence countries outside of the EU (think of the many exchange programs through which the EU gives scholarships to students from other continents) so this might influence YOUR future even if you are not a EU citizen!
The deadline is July 16th, 2026!
From the website: "The 2019-2027 EU Youth Strategy is coming to an end. The strategy supports social and civic engagement for young people. It also aims to improve policy decisions and their impact on young people. The aim of this public consultation is to gather views and suggestions to inform the European Commission’s proposals for the post-2027 EU Youth Strategy."
woke up today and realized that tumblr entirely killed fuck ya life bing bong so here ya go again
It is so human and so not romance novel that after Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Prejudice reads Mr. Darcy's letter and accepts that Wickham was the real villain and not him, her reaction is not, "Oh no, I loved and lost him!" it's "Oh shit, I fucked up! I hope I never see that man again in my entire life."
A YA romantasy writer filed suit against another writer for copyright infringement, and as is always the case with these things, she padded her claims with delusionally spurious examples. The judge issued a 160-page ruling against the plaintiff where you can tell from the start how resentful they (or whatever clerk actually did the work) are to have been forced by duty to have read the works in question.
"Alaska is a place known to the public, so setting a novel in a Alaska is not copyrightable."
I'm giggling. This is so sassy.
"That was a lot of reading." lmao
Oh, that is a VERY irritated judge.
i read the rest of the ruling and picked out a few more gems of exasperation:
The Door
by Margaret Atwood
The door swings open, you look in. It’s dark in there, most likely spiders: nothing you want. You feel scared. The door swings closed.
The full moon shines, it’s full of delicious juice; you buy a purse, the dance is nice. The door opens And swings closed so quickly you don’t notice.
The sun comes out, you have swift breakfasts with your husband, who is still thin; you wash the dishes, you love your children, you read a book, you go to the movies. It rains moderately.
The door swings open, you look in: why does this keep happening now? Is there a secret? The door swings closed.
The snow falls, you clear the walk while breathing heavily; it’s not as easy as once. Your children telephone sometimes. The roof needs fixing. You keep yourself busy. The spring arrives.
The door swings open: it’s dark in there, with many steps going down. But what is that shining? Is it water? The door swings closed. The dog has died. This happened before. You got another; not this time though. Where is your husband? You gave up the garden. It became too much. At night there are blankets; nonetheless you are wakeful.
The door swings open: O god of hinges, god of long voyages, you have kept faith. It’s dark in there. You confide yourself to the darkness You step in. The door swings closed.
My friends and I all took a “which Jane Austen love interest would you fall for?” and I was like ooh ooh I hope I get Mr. Knightley. But also if they have Henry Tilney on there he’s super underrated and I would get his humor better than Catherine anyway so I want him too. One of my friends said she wanted Mr. Darcy and I was like eh hard pass. Everyone looked at me like I committed sacrilege and I was like look! I love him! As a character! And I think he’s great for Elizabeth! I am really super happy that Elizabeth ended up with him. And also perfectly content to not be Elizabeth because he’s just not for me. And then we took the test and I got Mr. Darcy and one of my friends said “I forgot not liking him was a prerequisite for falling in love with him” and I threw my phone at her (spiritually, not physically, bc phones are expensive)
I’m convinced if ppl on this site knew how crappy gifs look before you color them properly, they would appreciate editors more
for context reasons, this is how a gif I used in a recent gifset looks like without any adjustments/coloring whatsoever:
and here it is afterwards:
I truly don’t think people realize how dingy and dark most movies and tv shows actually are so they can’t appreciate the work and skill it takes to make gifs look the way your brain “remembers” it looking.
Another before and after example:
This gif needed 6 different adjustment layers, not including the sharpening process, which is its own separate challenge. The blue window was also changed to green to keep the palette more consistent and to reduce the range of colors needed, because a wider range of colors generally results in worse gif quality since gifs only support a max of 256 (compared to the millions your monitor can display).
yeah…
I was already going to reblog this because gifmakers need all the love, but the little lambie made sure that I was definitely going to do it.
dark scenes are truly the bane of every gifmaker’s soul
The ecosystem of tumblr fandom relies on gif makers - put some respect on their names!!

I think I find this post every April Fools Day and I am so happy that I do
I gift this to you, my followers
Y’all I’m screaming
oh god dammit
does anybody have a picture of all the different dress forms perfectly sized to the old hollywood actresses that used to be in paramount, or warner brothers, or I don't remember where's costume department? like I have seen this picture a THOUSAND times, I can picture it in my head, I think Bette Davis may be in it staring at the Bette Davis dress form. I need it for a presentation tomorrow and Google has forgotten what dress and form and old hollywood mean
Is it this one?
no but that's real close!
the one I'm thinking of has a few dress forms with visible labels on them showing who they're for—there's a plus-size one for Dame May Whitty, and a couple other ingenue ones. I know it was a Tumblr post because it was in my likes for ages, but now of course I can't find it
Any of these?
not the one I had in mind but that one on the left will do! thank you!
love the oak tag commentary in the mae west one. "kate smith - large," "mae west - perfect," "miriam hopkins - boyish." I think Mae might have been bribing the costume shop perchance
for anyone wondering why they did this, having these custom dress forms meant that they could jump right into draping/fitting pieces for stars as soon as they were cast. this level of specificity with measurements and proportions is so key to design and why the custom clothes from these old movies go so hard in ways off-the-rack can only occasionally nail.
just a friendly reminder for everyone that your body is never the problem. it is always gorgeous. you just need clothes that fit you right and meet you where you are.

I leave the fandom for 5 minutes and this happens???
Urgent PSA: The BBC five hour version of Pride and Prejudice is FREE right now on YouTube. yes. free. BBC uploaded it as a valentine's day gift.
What are you still doing here????? Hasten. The hour groweth late and there are five hours of Colin Firth yearning and scowling to be watched.
Thank you for this PSA!
Here's the link! (Note that it doesn't work in all countries, so you know what to do...)
