Narrator voice: It was never about protecting children. If they were interested in that, they'd have to go after their own.
This meme is inescapable on French insta so I'm posting it here for all to enjoy
Bomb threats? Over *one* promotional deal a beer company made with a transgender person?
It’s only beer.
I wanted to be included so here's a hyperspecific poll :3
has never seen a single episode of supernatural
has the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap
has burnt a book
has named a pet after a character in a piece of media
owns more than 1 funko pop
has done a couple's cosplay
has a severe allergy to a stone fruit
purchased an expensive kitchen appliance that they rarely use
none of these apply to me
more than one applies to me (in tags)
Texas passing a law that makes it illegal for men to wear make up while performing in public. Which means…no rock concerts, no wrestling, no movies or plays, no male news anchors, no NFL and…no Trump rallies?
Did they think this through?
"Oh, we didn't mean those guys." "Really? Which guys did you mean?" "Oh...well...you know the ones."

Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
⁂
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
https://libgen.li/ scholarly journal articles, academic and general-interest books, images, comics, audiobooks, and magazines you may otherwise lack access to
https://sci-hub.ru/ research papers and books you may otherwise lack access to
https://archive.org/ a very large collection of all sorts of media, notably out of print books. by using the wayback machine you can also access new articles which may be locked behind a paywall
all of these sources are free means of access, though some may be blocked by certain ISPs
Keeley Jones + bisexuality
I love that a) Ted Lasso cast a lady older than me as the hot older lady (which seems obvious, but TV loves to pair 50-something dudes with 20-something women), and b) that Keeley is Rebecca's first and biggest cheerleader.
And I didn’t talk to him ever again
This comic has been getting a lot of love and attention lately. The notes are filled with people going through similar things with similar family members. It’s nice to read them and take heart that it gets better.
I have no issue at all cutting off toxic people, even if they're related to me. To include my father.
how many degrees of separation are you from Kevin Bacon?
0 (hi kevin!!)
1 (say hi to kevin for us)
2
3
4
5
6+
how the hell should i know
okay i should have probably disclosed up front that i'm a 4 so if you consider me to be a connection then you're at minimum a 5
Here’s a site to help determine your number
How it works: put in the most famous person you or someone you know or someone you know knows etc has met and use that number to figure out your connection.
E.g. my dad knew helen reddy, who has a kevin bacon number of 2, so he would have a number of 3 and therefore I am 4 degrees of separation from kevin bacon
I've met Levar Burton, Adam West, and Virginia Hey, who are all 2s. I'm a 3.

It comes less than two weeks after the world's richest man completed his $44bn takeover of Twitter.
$2bn more and he can end world hunger like he said he would
