Yes, unwrap the plastic from your stickers. Aren't you excited? Now, which sticker will you pick? So many to choose, you're so cute when you're overwhelmed. Aah, finally picked one did you? That's a fantastic sticker, you're doing amazing, kitten. Remember, after this, there's no going back, are you ready? Peel the sticker, peel it from its coated plastic sheet. Do you feel that? The intensity, the tension? Look at you, can't decide where to put it? Oh~ poor kitten, let me help you. I think you should put it... here. Oh? You want to put it there? I'm so proud of you, good job kitten. Now just press it into place, aaaaah~ a perfect fit. You did so well, it's perfect, kitten.

When I tell that I LOVE solarpunk
Oh, I remember this, the edit was done by youtuber Waffle to the left.
They didn't just cut out the parts with the oat milk, they skillfully edited over all the god-damn branding and replaced the audio.
But what I still find most hilarious about this whole commercial is the fact that everything they show in this solar punk world seems to be made with sustainable, zero waste and reusable materials.
Everything EXCEPT THE FUCKING CHOBANI BRANDED STUFF! The only plastic you see in this whole commercial is all the straight to the landfill packaging made by the very corporation that tries to sell how sustainable and "green" they are. Unintentional self satire at its finest.
They couldn't even show their yogurt and milk in (basically infinitely reusable) glass containers because they pretty much only sell their shit in plastic
It is such a perfect example of the true face of "green" capitalism, it's hilarious.
The punk in this solarpunk comes from cutting the corporation out of the picture
ALSO
Another really interesting thing about this edit is that they changed the label on the side of the apple-picking machine.
From "donations" to "commons". It's a subtle change, but it makes a huge difference in the world-building of the video. The former implies that this big orchard belongs to an owner and that they're donating the fruits to "the less fortunate" (and, by extension, that poverty is still a thing); the latter implies that the orchard belongs to everyone and that the fruits are free to take in the spirit of solidarity.
Waffle To The Left brought out the potential in this gorgeous video and made it an actual solarpunk utopia — without brands and without corporate pandering, complete with true common ownership over land and resources.
I know this video has gotten mocked and memed to hell and the solarpunk movement has gotten a lot of critique, "solarpunk ideology is pictures" and all that, but I still have so much genuine love for this. The animators put real light and hope into it and the Waffle editor did as well and this is absolutely a world I want to see for real. Capital-commissioned ad or not, I'm so happy this dream exists.
A new study published online today, April 25, in the scientific journal Science provides the strongest evidence to date that not only is nat
From the article:
“If you look only at the trend of species declines, it would be easy to think that we’re failing to protect biodiversity, but you would not be looking at the full picture,” said Penny Langhammer, lead author of the study and Executive Vice President of Re:wild. “What we show with this paper is that conservation is, in fact, working to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. It is clear that conservation must be prioritized and receive significant additional resources and political support globally, while we simultaneously address the systemic drivers of biodiversity loss, such as unsustainable consumption and production.”
This massive meta analysis (for those not familiar, a study analyzing the results of many studies on similar topics) found that the vast majority of conservation efforts show much much better results than doing nothing. In many cases, biodiversity loss was not only stopped but reversed.
This shows that conservation efforts really work and money invested is put to very good use. Legally protecting endangered species really works, restoring habitat really works, removing invasive species really works, returning land to Indigenous communities works. All of the blood, sweat, and tears being poured into protecting the natural world has been making a real, big, tangible, difference on a global scale.
Conservation and Restoration projects have been developing techniques for decades. They are growing more knowledgeable about methodologies that work and do not work. They are developing techniques that are more efficient and effective. They are overcoming their shortcomings and improving on processes that work and leaving behind those that don’t work. Every year is improvement. The more we do, the more we learn, the better we are.
"You have to acknowledge that some of the smartest researchers in the world concluded that negative emotions kept people on platform longer than positive ones. And so the algorithms that control your media diet, if you’re not examining them, you just need to know that things can be bad and they can be not as bad as some very effective researchers and coders want you to believe they are so you will stay glued to your phone. The things that give you hope and the things that will make the world better are growing in places you cannot see and you should put the phone down and go join them, because they need your help.”
