After the omelette had been thoroughly demolished and the breakfast dishes cleared away, Phil debriefed Darcy.

For the most part, he remained (seemingly) nonplussed by Darcy’s story. Until:

“And under what name did you obtain the train ticket?” Phil sat with his pen poised over his notes, clearly waiting to fill in a required blank in the official narrative that they had been slowly weaving.

“What.”

He looked up. “I need to know which ticket was yours so we can wipe it from Amtrak’s database.” Upon noticing her grimace he added, “Please don’t make me go look for it.”

He would find out one way or the other. Darcy sighed. “Francesca Barton.”

Phil blinked at her and then carefully wrote in her response. “Not what I expected.”

“Yeah, well, I don’t really look like a Philippa Coulson,” Darcy snarked.

“Julia Coulson,” Phil murmured.

“What.”

“If you were going with middle names, mine is Julien. The feminized version of which would be Julia. Hence, Julia Coulson.”

Darcy shook her head slowly. “Nope. No, because Agent is your first name. Agent Phil Coulson.”

Phil sighed. “You have been spending way too much time with Stark. Did you speak to anyone on the train?”

Hi there! I’m thrilled that you love my story enough to pop over here and tell me! 

I know that a number of other (super lovely and awesome) anons have also popped into my inbox over the last few months to leave kind and encouraging words and I have been the absolute worst about replying. (THE WORST.) 

As many of you know from reading my author’s notes on AO3, I am currently in the midst of PhD coursework and I also run a small knitting/crochet side-hustle (FancyAStitch) on etsy to raise extra cash. And all of that adds up to almost no free time or extra energy to write right now. I miss it (and you guys!), and I am perpetually optimistic that maybe next semester will be better and I’ll have more time–but so far the opposite has been true. This semester is already shaping up to be something of a nightmare and we are only in our third week, so….

Yeah.

Despite my absolute awfulness about replying to you guys, I do read your comments on AO3 when I need a little pick-me-up and I love getting messages from you here on tumblr. I really truly sincerely have every intention of going back to work on those stories someday, but I can’t tell you when that will be. I’m sure that some of you will be annoyed (although those of you that have contacted me during my radio silence have been beyond lovely), but this is the only thing that I can cut from my to do list. So hopefully I can come back next year when my coursework is finished and I have fewer deadlines, and hopefully some of you will still want to read what I put out when that time comes. 

In the meantime, be kind and supportive to the writers whose work you’re reading, and use all the exclamation points you want (!!!), and feel free to send me comments or messages if you feel like it. I promise I’m reading them.

(also sorry @nerdytara for this monologue in response to your simple ask, but it was time to say all this, and you gave me the reminder that I needed)
