Not that I wouldn’t have freaked out at all, but going to college would have been 10,000 times less terrifying if I had known this.

Like all through junior and senior year high school teachers were like “when you get to college, oh boy, your professors will {insert terrifying shit}”

Like I had one professor who literally had a list of 10 questions, he’d teach us the answers and then the test would literally be like 15 out of the 30 questions and all you would’ve had to do was show up to class and not fall asleep

Another let us make up notecards to bring into our midterms and finals so you better believe we crammed that shit in

Another professor came to work in jeans and flip flops and was like “I’m Dr. Wayne Romer but you can just call me Romer or whatever you want so long as you don’t call me something rude”

Lastly, and he’s my friend on facebook now, my professor was like “you pick your own curriculum” and “mid terms and final grades will be projects of whatever the hell you want because I’m in the middle of my own dissertation and I don’t want to read the same damn paper over and over any more than you want to write them”

Like fuck high schools trying to scare the shit out of students

The success of “Hidden Figures” comes as debates over racial diversity and gender pay equity dominate Hollywood. And its stars have pointed to the film as proof that movies helmed by black women are not inherent commercial risks.

“I have been told my entire career ‘Black women can’t open films domestically or internationally.’ Well anything is possible,” star Taraji P. Henson wrote on Instagram after the movie’s opening weekend, when it took the No. 1 spot at the box office. “Most importantly this proves that PEOPLE LIKE GOOD MATERIAL. People don’t seem to understand how big this is.

Hidden Figures is a movie that people say won’t work.

“Oh movies about women and black people don’t sell.”

We here this all the time. That is an excuse people use to not give us more diverse films. But here it is, doing better than Ben Affleck movie and Martin Scorses. Those some big names in Hollywood. Everyone knows who Martin Scorses is and he’s considered to be one of the grandfathers of film. Ben is not just an actor but also a director and has the skills to back it up.

And Hidden Figures is slaying them both.

This is huge.
