We love women in male dominated fields! Mother Jeyne Arryn being one of the only women in Westeros who could sit in a room with a Targaryen man and have all the power. We stan. Probably the first time I’ve ever seen Daemon not be the strongest presence.
I’m paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD

Alicent offers Heleana moon tea and it really seems to me she's trying to offer a kindness to her that she never got. She does however not take into account that Heleana isn't her younger self, and views her kindness more as an offense.
Guess I'll just never understand why the women we get in hotd are written to have so little agency. And mind you they're Queens and Princesses. What a sad thing. All their faults get justified by misogyny, all their wants get simplified to they need to get away from misogyny. All their choices? Misogyny. Can't have them. Except when it's to give up their positions of power. They can sacrifice people they love for the greater good at any time. They'll die because they're peaceful and it's a war. They suffer the consequences of men's choices because they can't make their own. They're victims. They're privileged but they want simple things. They get sad but never angry. Angry but not enough to matter. If it matters it's because someone forced their hand. They're Madonna. Cassandra. Elizabeth I.
But they're not themselves.
rhaenyra complaining about aegon hanging the rat catchers. hmmm i wonder why would he do something like that?
but knowing rhaenyra, she might have actually completely forgotten that she and her hubby and her new gf murdered his 6yo child.
In a show where pathetic wife killing groomer Daemon is on my screen for an inordinate amount of time every week and I try my best to find interest in his development or screentime, I also see what 5 minutes per episode they ever allow the infinitely more complex and likeable Criston Cole. And despite that, people in this fandom have the maturity of a tantrum throwing toddler about even seeing Cole on screen, when he straight up has the best dialogue of the episode.
This was truly peak Alicent Hightower. She was too powerful in this moment so condal and co took everything that made her a complex, even somewhat sympathetic villain. He took her complex character traits, her love/support for her children, her faction and desire for power, her aura, even her hair.. He took what could have been a “fuck these targs I’m taking what is mine” moment and turned it into catholic guilt and a string of misunderstandings that lead her back to supporting Rhaenyra for reasons no one can explain.
Oh hell nah, I aint forgeting THIS no matter how much fluff Hess and Condal trow at us:
Another diva down. Rest in peace, baddie Luthor Largent. They hate to see a beautiful man with gorgeous curls in Westeros.

House of the Dragon 3x05 – Unbowed and Unbent
Larys who: “You had the same opportunities as your brother – the best mentors, the best knights to teach you how to wield a sword, the very best of the best, just as him – but you chose to throw those very opportunities away by -literally- fucking around with anyone and getting drunk with your lickspitters friends until you passed out, so DON’T YOU DARE complain about something YOU’ve wasted. " is simply AWESOME. I never imagined, since the beginning of the show, that I would have loved something Larys related, but here I am.
*Sighs*
There was no need for Rhaenyra to botch a beheading, let alone execute someone herself, just to make her look regal and powerful. She could have simply sent Daemon to do it. There is nothing regal about a botched execution
Daenerys never executed anyone herself. Sansa delegated Littlefinger's execution to Arya. Were they any less in control as a result? No. The show completely misunderstands how authority is projected when a ruler isn't a trained combatant.
And while we can understand Rhaenyra's inner feelings, punishing someone while crying is not showing authority at all.
