lmao there’s an ask in my inbox telling that me being pissed about how my culture is being disrespected is me blowing things out of proportion.
let me get this straight:
this was a whole other mess of appropriating native american culture as well.
dont even get me started on how inappropriate this performance was
Every single one of these images is inappropriate and disrespects deep-rooted traditions that belong to south asians. Some of these traditions were a result of struggles and horror stories that your coachella brain cannot comprehend.
My culture is not an aesthetic.
Just because you do yoga and say namastayinbed, because you think you’re edgy, doesn’t give you any right to tell me what I should and should not get offended about.
Do i hate any of these idols? No. Do I think they should do better? Yes. The only reason it is T H I S pissing off is because of how downplayed it is like south asian culture just doesn’t matter at all. Our voices are never heard and we never get that support system.
Please stop wearing bindis and maang tikkas and wearing henna and disrespecting deities and ancient shlokas. we are not asking for a lot.
“how downplayed it is like south asian culture just doesn’t matter at all. Our voices are never heard and we never get that support system” YES!!!!!
I kinda touched upon this in my own post + the reblog but only in the tags so I’m gonna take this chance to write it in a post.
Why are y’all SO bothered when South Asians stand up for themselves? Is it because y’all are taught that we’re a part of that model minority myth who are supposed to be quiet little submissive type personalities (which is also used as a tactic to be racist against many other POCs)?? What the fuck gave you the right to tell desi kids what they can be bothered by and what they can’t??
Edit: One more thing. Its not like there’s ever really a conversation about South Asian CA in KPOP most times. And in the blue moon that we bring it up, we’re told to shut up and we’re told we’re making a big deal. Honestly the fuck is wrong with you?
Have you Uh, you think ya big boi, throwing three stacks, I'ma show you how to ball, you a mismatch, Opinionated but I'm always spitting straight facts, Throwback, I might throw this on an eight track-ed today?

one.
Summer is packing your belongings in a dilapidated suitcase that has been through many airport terminals, throwing your t-shirts and jeans on top until it’s filled to the brim with too many items of clothing and too little occasions to dress up for. It’s taking that burdensome stack of essays you’ve accumulated throughout the semester and tossing them down the trash chute with the rest of the banana peels and ramen cups. It’s taking a breath of fresh air without the imminent stressors of “midterm prompt will be posted at noon” or “printer is low on toner”.
Summer is the honking of Chan’s car outside of your apartment complex, the incessant vibrating of your phone with caller ID that reads “asshole™”, which leaves you questioning why your brother brought his entire entourage to pick you up from college.
The moment you step out of the building complex, you’re greeted by the familiar sound of Jisung’s voice—penetrating, raucous, grating, and other big words for annoying. But that’s not the point.
The point is:
“Hey, hurry up! Changbin says he can’t fall in love without you!”
Ugh.

one.
Jisung knows that whenever Hyunjin asks to study in the library, they are doing anything but studying.
But if he’s paying that much to attend college, away from the comfort of his own home where he doesn’t have to do his own dishes and laundry, he might as well take advantage of the facilities that the university has to offer. Like that one saying: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Except he actually hates lemonade, but he’d still drink it if that one sustainability org on campus gives them out for free in those reusable glass bottles with smiley lemon stickers on them.
It’s not the actual branding of the lemonade that appeals to him (though he does like yellow)—it’s the fact that it’s free.
Because that’s probably the hottest thing you could ever say to a college student.
