So I’ve been getting back into botw, and I recently had the idea to go on a kind of “Hyrule tour” to get a picture of every ruined guardian I can find across the game’s world. I’ve already marked all the locations of the non-moving ones (I used the BOTW object map online) which I’ll be photographing individually as I go. I’ve already gotten some which I’ll be showing later.

Titan Mutants

While the majority of Titans remained at a (relatively) small size, there were some among the race who grew to sizes far beyond the normal range. These mutant Titans had an unusual genetic anomaly that caused them to absorb magic around them at a much stronger rate than a normal Titan, drastically amplifying their size to varying degrees.

Below is a 5’2 human, a 6’3 Cave Titan, and a 9’6 Mountain Titan, all average heights for their species, compared to the typical upper range of heights for a Titan mutant.

These mutated Titans were usually recognized after they started growing larger and faster than everyone else. Their heights usually stabilized around thirty to sixty feet, but during the first Titan-Archivist conflict, the deaths of thousands of Titans dramatically increased how much magic was flowing in the world, causing the mutants to grow to sizes previously unfathomable.

The giants were seen as war machines more often than not, simply living weapons for the Titans to use as intimidation or to crush their own enemies without spending resources on an army. But as the first war heightened, some of these giants desired to find a true purpose in their lives other than meaningless destruction. However, they were slowly singled out by Archivists and killed by blunt force trauma with meteor strikes, something the Titans couldn’t simply repel.

As the giants fell, their gargantuan bodies displaced the sea around them, burying the continents and spreading their magic across the realm, allowing the next giants to only grow larger, until only one giant remained, the tallest, largest Titan who ever lived. It was their fall that completely destroyed the pre-Titanfall world for good.
