To the child that will never be

In my arms there lies a barren place

One which I once hoped you would take up space

My child that will never be

I'm sorry I couldn't give you a chance to be free

To run your little hands with a face so bright

Through the fields with a kite

Perhaps in another time when the world is less cruel

When the people who are supposed to lead are not fools

I wished for so long that things would change

That one day I would get to pick your name

The cradle in the corner is but a dream

A look into what could have been a gleam

Of hope from far away

For you my child will not know my dismay

Perhaps eventually they will hear our pleas

Maybe in another world we will be at ease

But for now my child you will continue to live in dreams and memories

As the child that will never be

You are allowed to exist alone in public btw. You're allowed to go to the movies alone and go out to eat alone and hang out in a park alone and go for a walk alone and whatever else. It isn't weird or creepy, it doesn't make you lonely or a loser or whatever. You are allowed to just exist as yourself.
