So... We're not dead!

I'm really sorry for the (checks dates) oh goddess, 5-months-long radio silence. Using Tumblr was being really detrimental to our mental health at the start of the year so I decided we had to take a month-long break and then after some time we decided we should slowly move away from Tumblr in general... but we forgot we had a tourney to run.

Thankfully, this tourney is already on its finals so we're just gonna finish this one as a last farewell. As for @actually-insane-blorbo-bracket, our other tourney, we'll try to find another person to run it and if no one wants it, we'll just cancel that tourney altogether, sadly.

Anyways, I hope y'all enjoy the finals!! We're gonna make it today and they'll be coming out tomorrow!

Hiya! Hopefully that explains the giant time gap between the last post and this one (we literally turned 18 during this time).

At first I was gonna just ask for people to reply or DM if they wanted to take over the tournament, but as we went through the submissions to add the tags, it made us kinda want to get back into this tournament. We'll still be evading everything else on Tumblr, but we'll try this tourney thing again… Also this tourney's rules are pretty strict and specific so we don't want to just give this tourney away to someone we don't know…

We'll not be giving any deadlines cause this is one of the main things that broke our motivation to continue this tourney half a year ago, but the plan stays the same: finish going through the current 281 submissions and reopen the form for a week after we finish it (hopefully the Tumblr tourney hype dying down helps to keep this below a thousand submissions) then start the form.

So basically I got mad that @top-fictional-psychotic-woman was an "evil fictional woman bracket", but instead of annoying the mod, I went "huh, mentally ill characters sounds like a good first tournament".

The rules of the tournament goes as follows:

The character must be mentally ill in some way, be it personality disorder, psychotic disorder, depression, anxiety, really bad trauma, etc.

Headcanons and word-of-author are 100% allowed (rarely characters admit being mentally ill on screen so...)

The character can be villainous, but I would prefer if they weren't.

If the character is a villain, you have to explain why they're mentally ill besides "they're a villain" or "they look crazy". Example: Most versions of Joker wouldn't be allowed since he isn't mentally ill in them as far as I know, but the 2019 movie version would because his mental illness isn't his violence and murders, is his hallucinations that he's dating that neighbor that takes the elevator with him.

You can submit multiple characters as a group if they're already a group in the source. Example: the Literature Club from Doki Doki Literature Club or Doctor Palomero's patients from the Spanish movie Toc Toc (watch Toc Toc, it's such a funny movie).

There's no restrictions on what fandom the character is from. You can submit characters from MCYT, Attack On Titan, hell even Adam Sandler movies if you want to, despite how much I don't like those movies.

No real people please, unless it's a fictionalized version of that person. Example: real life Van Gogh wouldn't be allowed, but Van Gogh from that Doctor Who episode would.

Feel free to send propaganda as asks or reblogs (though send it in the post instead of the tags), but I will only reblog propaganda uplifting a character, not bad mouthing other characters. If you're consistently negative about any character in the bracket, you will be blocked.

Please don't bring up discourse like "that character is actually really problematic". Do you know how short this bracket would be if there was only clean, advertiser-friendly depictions of mental illness here?

Feel free to ask me anything about the bracket if you're on doubt, I will try to answer as many as I can.

The hardest part is honestly trying to figure out whether a character would sweep the minor bracket if i put them in or not

#like some are super obvious (sorry vash fans i love him too but he is not minor bracket material when compared to the others on here so far)

anyways. I most likely will close the minor league submissions after this weekend! Gonna be at a con but after that I will. actually make the bracket. I have been procrastinating. oops

also i just wanna say for any asks that haven't been answered- sorry about that! As for questions that are along the lines of "Does [x] count as a physical disability" I have come to the realization that that is an extremely hard thing to define which I did not know before making this blog. But hey, it's one way to learn! The way I plan on handling this is. if your not sure, just submit the character- my plan is that if I'm not fully sure on whether a character would count or not I'll likely include someone else.

I still plan for the bracket to be double the size of the major league btw.

It's been brought to my attention that the proposed Tumblr blackout is actually going to be harmful for disabled folks, as it removes the ability to have users fix improperly tagged content and will decrease the reach of Disability Pride Month content.

So I'm not going to be stepping away this week.

This is an issue that several people have tried to mention to the one who proposed the blackout, and the message has been repeatedly ignored. Though the blackout had an impact on Reddit, the truth of it is that Tumblr is not Reddit and so we likely need to use different methods.

Please do not join the blackout. It will actually harm those with disabilities, because it will prevent many people from seeing and spreading disability awareness content.

Sorry for the confusion, and thank you for the understanding.

Hey just wanted to give an update and say the minor bracket will still happen, I’ve just been busy! Progress will hopefully be made on it soon ^^ it’ll definitely start sometime in July, hopefully early July
