My name is Fayte, and he or she pronouns are both fine. My biggest writing projects are fantasy with elements of drama, romance, and horror, interwoven with found family, enemies to friends, a journey to the underworld, coming of age (adult), an unseen and blazing angel, grieving, the bond between siblings, and some monsters. For Tumblr, I have a selection of hero/villain content available (including two longer-form stories) and a smattering of other short, original fiction. There’s also some vampires and a handful of prompts to be seen.
My own writing is tagged as "Fayte writes". I use content warnings somewhat generously, and if I ever feel something is especially detailed/descriptive, it will be listed as a trigger warning. I am ask and tag game friendly, even when I’m really slow answering them. Asks are under the tag "can I ax you something?" I’m trying to get back into drawing, so feel free to ask me about that, too.
My profile pic is from this, and my header is from here.

You are immortal. You didn't realize your ex from 200 years ago was also immortal until you run into each other while grocery shopping.
I think I found my new favorite rabbit hole. This voice actor does Shakespeare scenes in a southern accent and I need to see the whole damn play. Absolutely beautiful
I'm very excited to announce the launch of The Last Voyage of the Faithful! The first few pages are out; read them on Webtoon or on the publisher's website.
Though I'm the writer of this webcomic, I need to make sure to thank @nyxlux for his amazing illustration work. It wouldn't be possible without him.
Twilight AU where people are born with dark spots on their skin where their soulmate's first touch will be on their body. When their soulmate has touched them, the spot turns red, like a permanent flush or mild burn.
It's not uncommon for people to just not have birthmarks. You can have more than one soulmate — multiple different sets of soulmate birthmarks have happened — but it's more common to not be born with this mark.
Rosalie doesn't think much of not having a mark. Her mother and father didn't have marks, and neither did most of her peers. She focused on the life she could build, on making her own little paradise with what she had. She was a practical and ambitious lady, and she didn't feel the ache of missing a soulmark that some others struggled with.
She wasn't thinking about it at all when she died, or as she was making her adjustments to her new life.
Esme had two spots on her right arm that had gone all but forgotten to her as she was brought into a hospital, dying and incoherent. Nobody had noticed the handprints blushing to life under her bloody clothes as Dr. Cullen tried to save her life. When she woke up to the rest of her unlife, it had taken her a few days to notice the faint, blueish, scar-like hue her marks had become. Edward and Carlisle, both markless, assumed that it was a function of the turn. Esme traced the lines with her fingertips in solitude, remembering back through her haze and delirium. Remembering the small, momentary surprise when a hand had finally, perfectly covered the mark she had been waiting to be touched her entire life, just as her life was ending.
Emmett had always made jokes about his mark.
It was massive — the doctors who delivered him as a baby had briefly been afraid that he was seriously ill, until they could make out the tiny, wobbly shapes of hand prints on his shoulders, arm, back, legs, and sides. People called him "lucky" all the time, teasing him for the sheer multitude of handprints on his body, destined to be filled out by a multitude of soulmates, surely. Others used it as a mark that he was destined for a life of hedonism. He just laughed, and to make fun of the sheer coverage of his back and his side in that deep, unawakened color, he would throw himself backwards at his buddies, as if the times they had already touched him didn't count, and he could shock them all by making them fit his mark.
His mother worried, ever since he was a child, at how many times the fingerprints seemed to dig hard into his ribs, as if his soulmate would be trying to hurt him.
Rosalie wasn't paying any attention to his mark when she found him, couldn't even see it under all the blood and her own panic. The first time she picked him up, he was already dazed and confused. But he caught a glimpse of his own mark in that long hour of running. He noticed before he fainted that the hard grabs around his wrist had all blushed awake, a pale but undeniable blush where they had always been dark.
Bella's marks were small, faint wisps on her hand. So many have the same type of marks. It was common to have dark smudges on one's fingertips, light rows of two or three fingers tapped in dark spots on the back of a wrist, the inside of the palm, the forearm. It meant that people knew those spots intimately, the wielders of such marks checking them fervently after even common interactions, told over and over again not to miss the moment when they touched their soulmate.
So when Edward accidentally brushed his unmarked fingertips exactly over Bella's mark, she yanked her hand away as if he had burned her.
Because how could it be him?
How could it be this boy who obviously hated her the first time they'd met?
How could it be this boy whose fingers were completely unblemished?
She couldn't let anyone see her hand, not until she got the chance, alone, to check on her mark.
She pulled the sleeve of her jacket up, balling it up in her fist, and didn't dare to touch him again all period. He was perplexed and… put off by her severe reaction to his touch. He kept well away from her, careful for the remaining duration of their lab. She spent the period trying to figure out how she was going to hide her hand from now on.
But what if the light touches didn't count? What if the magic that rules this mechanic of the world only counts the first "big" touch?
And as the van is crashing around Bella, again and again, and she catches every other move that Edward is making, sees where his hands grip her calves, her shoulder, feeling the press of his body against her hip, a horrible recognition is dawning on her. Every touch of his unmarked palm has her heart pounding, and she languishes through the ER visit until she can get home and pull up her pant leg and see that the long handprint above her sock, the most obvious and intentional of the tapestry of markings on her body that her mother always joked was her Prince Charming saving her from another clumsy fall, is now a bright, vivid flush of red.
And there isn't a single mark on Edward's body.
What does Edward make of it, after they've gotten to know each other, as they're sitting with each other in the meadow, and he catches the glimpse of red under her hair, on the back of her neck? And she catches him staring, and sheepishly rolls up her sleeve? Revealing to him that she's known for so many days now, and he was left entirely clueless by her mental silence?

they were going to give him a katana and have him be a samurai, but he didn’t want to be stereotypical, so he told the execs that he could fence and they wrote in references to the three musketeers instead
Not only that, but he found he liked fencing, kept it up, and became a master fencer.
When I had the privilege to hear him talk at AwesomeCon 2015, he informed us he is a master fencer. It was a very clear implication that he is still fencing at his advanced age. No wonder he’s so healthy.
He had far too much fun with this episode and it shows.

the thing with romance for me is that you need to convince me through behavior and dialogue that the characters enjoy spending time with each other and seek each other out. even with enemies to lovers a foundation of mutual respect goes a long way. you can be like "he's the youngest ever general of the dragon slaying guild and I'm secretly a dragon, but he's the best swordsman I've ever fought and our sparring matches are the only thing that make me feel alive ever since my family was killed." if he implies something similar then bam, you have a reason for the two of them to hang out even though one of them knows it's dangerous. you can't be like "he's a dragon slayer and he's mean to me all the time but the flex of his arms when he swings his sword is just too sexy." it does not matter how many times you have your protagonist say "I shouldn't be drawn to him... but I am" if you never show a real moment of connection between them that draws them together
hot take possibly? but i actually think it’s okay for things to be marketed for adults. it’s literally okay if things aren’t suitable for children. i feel like we are losing the plot
The boycott is working, y'all. YouTube is panicking, trying to get people to buy Premium. They're advertising themselves on other platorms, when YT used to be the place to advertise. They're trying to bribe people with discount codes.
IT IS WORKING
Keep fighting the good fight
If you don't know about the YT boycott, I summarized it here
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Raine. I'm an author based in the USA, and I primarily write speculative fiction. I was somewhat active before, and I wasn't doing well at all. Think of this as me reinventing myself.
I used to be bitter and critical. I used to lash out in my pain. I don't want to do that anymore, and I won't. My life has gotten a lot better, and I can finally be the woman I am deep down. If you're one of my followers, I hope you still like me ^_^!
Continued support from others really helps me, so I really appreciate you commissioning me or buying me a coffee. I wouldn't be where I am now without you; thank you.
I still plan to keep my tag list updated, so if you want to be added or removed from that, let me know!
