New Blog 📚

Good Morning (or evening or afternoon or strange timeless dusk in some shadowed pit). 

I’ve started a new blog that is specifically dedicated to my writing. At the moment, I am editing the first draft of my first “real” novel They Are But a Breath. It is literary soft-science fiction and revolves around three brothers dealing with the abuses of their father and the crumbling of the world around them. Also forgotten flesh-eating deities, drunken priests inked with bioluminescent tattoos, long dried-out seas with coral skeletons rising from the dust, and beetles. Lots of beetles. 

So if that interests you at all or if you know someone who might find it intriguing, please reblog and follow. I’ll be sharing excerpts, cover mock-ups, concept art, and maybe character sheets, or whatever else. I’m excited to share my story with the world someday and I figure this is a good start.

Prayer Request

I don’t usually ask but I need prayers right now. The man I thought God had chosen for me to be my husband just broke up with me. I’ve never been in a position where I felt God speak to my soul like He did when I met this man. I was so happy and so thankful, but now I don’t know what to do. I know God doesn’t make mistakes so I’m wondering if I misinterpreted God, and that’s a hard thing to consider.

I also told my family about him, and I know they are going to mock and ridicule me because of this when I tell them it’s over. I haven’t been sleeping or eating for days because he’s changed and brought up breaking up. I just don’t know what to do, I’m so fearful I’m going to be alone forever and I just lost the love of my life.

Please pray for the young men who have lost their sons, their brothers, their friends, and their fathers to suicide;

Pray for those men who are in addiction, in poverty, in hospice, who go through bullying and isolation and domestic abuse, who have been raped and are sexually abused, who are self-harming and contemplating suicide. Who are struggling in their homes, marriages, families; with their health, and their safety. Please pray for all the young men who have lost their lives due to PTSD and insufficient support and trauma and accidents. Please pray for the surviving families, and their male members, whose sons, fathers, and brothers were targeted and taken away from them too soon because of crime and violence and injustice.

Please pray for our young boys and men, for we need them as much as they need us.

I was not allowed to watch cartoons as a kid and so as an adult I am going back and watching a lot of what was big when I was a kid, and most of the shows are like. Okay. I see why a kid would enjoy this, and I see why an adult who watched it as a kid would still enjoy it, but entering into it for the first time as an adult, there's nothing here for me. (Very occasionally we get one where I don't understand why anyone enjoys it.) However, Phineas and Ferb is kind of in a category all its own.

Most kids' media makes it for adults and kids both by having the bulk of the content be aimed at kids, with the occasional adult joke where the punchline is sex or mortgage interest rates to amuse the adults that the writers assume are being forced to watch this at gunpoint. Other schools of thought exist, such as what Studio Ghibli does where adults and children are more or less invited to enjoy the same content on the same level.

Phineas and Ferb has an element where the same joke or heartfelt moment would presumably affect a child and an adult, and in the same way, more or less, but being an adult adds an additional facet to it that is born of your own experience -- and your experience as a child is as relevant as your experience as an adult. I think it's a subcategory of something that some very good stories do which is meet the viewer/reader/player halfway, if that makes sense? Uh... laughing with you rather than inviting you to laugh at something it constructed itself? IDK it's very hard to articulate. Calvin & Hobbes and The Hobbit have similar qualities, if that helps

I work in manufacturing but the building and therefore the bathrooms are in a a corporate office and I have had it with women being this disgusting in these public bathrooms. I just walked into shit smeared on the floor. It's too...organized to have been an accident and if it was you need to call to get it cleaned. It's a damned biohazard. In a corporate building.

training your dog is not optional or a bonus. training your dog is an absolute necessity. training your dog is the rock bottom floor of responsible dog ownership just as much as feeding it is. if your dog is untrained it is unhappy, neglected, and a danger to you, itself, and everyone else. wake the fuck up. and i don’t mean teaching it a couple tricks and calling it a day, it’s the entire structure and nature of your relationship with the animal. it MUST do what you tell it to do, when you tell it to. its not a toy, it’s an animal with jaws that can crush bone.
