(in reference to lrb) one of our exhibiting artists has a body of work also born from a car accident. a really bad one... really cool seeing that piece bc i just got back home from opening reception. her work started from obssessing over the accident, plotting the coordinates of the crash site, and they morphed into connect the dots, which morphed into lines, which morphed into intersections. we got to film an interview at her home studio too! she owns hens with a pride flag perched outside of their coop as if the chickens themselves were gay

You make soup in a big bowl. You serve it in a smaller bowl. And then you convey it, using a spoon, to your mouth. But what is the spoon? Simply a smaller bowl still
"Anyone who has ever tried to recount a dream to someone else is in a position to measure the immense gap, the qualitative incommensurability, between the vivid memory of the dream and the dull, impoverished words which are all we can find to convey it: yet this incommensurability, between the particular and the universal, between the vecu and language itself, is one in which we dwell all our lives, and it is from it that all works of literature and culture necessarily emerge."
Fredric Jameson, Imaginary and Symbolic in Lacan
