saw someone misspell "stochastic terror" as "socratic terror" so I'd like to clarify that stochastic terror is the public demonization of a person or group resulting in the incitement of a violent act that seems random but is not, while "socratic terror" is what every athenian felt when they went down to the agora in the 5th century and saw an old man with a beard approaching them
“Nobody wants to work” yet im over here filling out 3945867483293064359469 applications on 500 different job hunting sites, each application demanding i take a 30 minute-test to PROVE that me and my paltry resume are worth a multi-million company giving me 16 whole dollars an hour. Nobody wants to work yet 97 of the 100 applications you fill out just ghost you (because when a Boss does it, that’s just how it is. But if you ghost? Unprofessional.) or give you some pointless runaround for 3 weeks until telling you you’re not a good fit because you only have 3 years of dick-sucking experience and they want 5. Nobody wants to work? Nobody wants to invest in employees. Nobody wants to hire, nobody wants to train, nobody wants to teach anyone new skills. Nobody wants to accept that YES, some people DO work to collect a paycheck and thats FINE, not all of us are born with a passion to be a Starbucks Manager. We’re all passionate about living and supporting ourselves and I wish bosses would stop being so lazy and rude and give my friends jobs for $20000 an hour
OK SO YOU SEE ITS NOT THAT UTENA IS A BETTER PRINCE OR A TRUE PRINCE ITS THAT THE VERY CONCEPT OF A PRINCE IS A PATRIARCHAL IMPOSSIBLE STANDARD THAT NO ONE CAN REACH. ITS A WEAPON THAT ENFORCES MISERY. IMPOSSIBLE STANDARDS ARE A COMMON THEME IN UTENA TOO BECAUSE THESE STANDARDS IGNORES THE HUMAN FACTOR OF PEOPLE BEING IMPERFECT! THE CHARACTERS ARE FLAWED AND CANT REACH THE STRICT IMPOSSIBLE STANDARDS OF GENDER AND SEXUALITY CAUSE PEOPLE ARE NOT ABLE TO BE NEATLY BE SHOVED INTO LITTLE BOXES, OR COFFINS IN THIS CASE. THE PRINCESS AND WITCH DICHOTOMY IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE IMPOSSIBLE STANDARDS THING AND-
Imagine being Charles Martinet and having to just sit there and watch as someone else does the character you've voiced for decades in the big movie they're finally making and they're just bringing absolutely nothing. Giving the most lifeless, zero effort performance to your character as you're relegated to a cameo.
I think he should get to strangle Chris Pratt to death.

How is that capitalism?!
They don’t even understand capitalism.

By giving you a free item, the business has created subconcious good will towards them. Additionally, every time you view the item, it may bring the business to mind, serving as a free advertisement. It also increases your chances of discussing the business with others, as well as the chances that said conversation will be favorable to the business.

Unlike billionaires, pickpockets often recognize they have a lot in common with the potential victims of their crime.
This reminds me of Rhys Nicholson the comedian who got mugged and the mugger said "I promise this isn't a hate crime, my sister is a lesbian im pro gay rights"
It’s actually very simple: all cartoon characters have Schrödinger’s junk. They exist in a quantum superposition of smooth like a Barbie doll and hung like a horse, and when you collapse the waveform it resolves to whichever option makes the joke land.
Other possible quantum states of what’s in a cartoon character’s pants include the following:
Red-and-white polka dot boxer shorts
Fur
Fig Leaf
Hovering black bar that is insubstantial yet blocks all forms of electromagnetic radiation
Pixelation Field
Comically inadequate pixelation field that leaves very little to the imagination
Sign saying “MADE U LOOK”
Blinding white light
An unfortunately positioned stick of dynamite with half an inch of fuse left

HOLY FUCK THE AMAZON WORKERS WON THEIR UNION VOTE
im running so late to this but holy fucking shit this is historic
last thing - while unions are obviously a collaborative effort and this incredible victory is the result of the hard work and sacrifices of many different people i think it’s absolutely essential to highlight the role of ALU’s founder chris smalls rn
chris was fired by amazon in 2020 for organizing a walk-out in the wake of their absolutely criminal handling of covid protocols in staten island. in a meeting with bezos and other amazon execs amazon’s lawyer was caught bragging that he wasnt “smart” or “articulate” enough to organize against them…now he’s helped facilitate the first successful union vote in amazon’s history - eat shit!
People in MCU movies got to keep saying shit like "well THAT just happened" cuz the actors don't have any context for their scenes
Thor: *points at green wall*
“You take the little guy, I’ll take the big guy”
*both guys in question are 5 months away from completion in the studio*
fucking this tho
Elizabeth Olsen: "This time, they actually decided not to give us scripts. They gave me my pages, then they explained other things that are happening." When she actually sees the completed film, Olsen admitted, "I'll be so shocked and surprised." "I'll be like, 'Oh, I see!. That's what was happening to the world at that time." (x)
Sebastian Stan didn’t even know that Bucky Barnes was one of the characters who was snapped away. He was just told to “fall,” and he had to ask both of the Russo brothers before either of them gave him an answer.
Brie Larson: “I had no idea what I was shooting, what the movie was. I didn’t know if anybody else was in a scene with me. I didn’t know anything. And it’s not until you show up that you get your pages for the day. But you only get your part. So it was like a scene that was completely black redacted, and then just my one line.” (x)
"RDJ was probably the only one to actually read the entire script," Joe Russo told Rotten Tomatoes, adding: "I think Benedict [Cumberbatch] got the script that included his scenes only. Maybe [Chris] Evans might have read the script."
“Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it," Joe Russo revealed at an Endgame event. "He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite of. We’ll just, we use like very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.” (x)

This isn't right, it isn't quirky, and it's not something any journalist should be praising (if you read the articles I linked they seem to be happy with this behaviour? WTF). It's unacceptable.
this is just bad filmmaking
I refuse to believe this did not happen in canon
Aang consistently forgetting he's the most powerful human alive will never not be funny to me
Tatiana Maslany was literally insane for playing like 12 different people with the same face and then interacting with multiple versions of herself for five whole seasons
she really Did That™ and we are all incredibly grateful
No! No, but here's the important thing! She did it so flawlessly, that you would actually forget these characters are the same actress.
I found myself feeling bad for the actor who plays Alison's husband, because "he never gets to work with Maslany," because in my head I kept equating her with Sarah, when literally he only worked with Maslany!
The special effects were so seemless, and her performances were so flawless that we have never seen this gimmick done this effectively, this naturally. And I don't think we ever will again.
She deserved that emmy.
It’s impossible to describe how phenomenally good a job Maslany did with these characters. Like, it wasn’t just that she played every one of these characters so genuinely and distinctly that you forgot they were the same actress. It was also that the characters, being clones, would deceive people by playing each other.
Alison would be on the screen, and you’d be like, “that’s Alison”. Then Sarah would be on the screen, and you’d be like, “that’s Sarah”. Then someone who looked exactly like Sarah would be on the screen, and you’d be like, “Oh, Alison is pretending to be Sarah.” And some of the clones were better at pretending to be each other than other clones were. And you could always tell who you were looking at and who they were trying to imitate.
#we have no choice but to stan#i miss orphan black it was such a wild ride#there will never be another like it
You are correct but also Orphan Black was just a TV version of 90% of scifi written for teenage girls in the 90s/’00s. Tatiana Maslany is unparallelled but if it’s this genre specifically you’re looking for then just go grab a teen scifi book. The only difference was that the main characters were teenagers.
